Cierah Sitko- Sunglass Sunset

The title of this image is Sunglass Sunset. It was taken in Ross Bridge, it was taken at dusk in mid sunset. It was taken with my nikon camera. I did a lot to edit this photo. The lens of the glasses were filthy, so i cleaned them a little. I enhanced the colors of the sunset, and brightened them. There was one major problem though, one of the nose pieces was missing. In order to fix it you had to copy it, flip it, and move it to the other side where it should be.

Alice B - After the Rain

The title of this photo is After the Rain, because it was taken after a day of rain during school. It was taken right after school in my front yard. I had a hard time focusing because it was so small, but I finally took a good picture with my Nikon L830. I created the saturation, vibrance, and contrast of the picture higher. If I had focused a little bit better, or I found a better position of water droplets to take a picture of, it would have been better. I finally took this picture after around 20 failed tries to take the droplets picture. I really liked this photo.

Lara M - Shared Curiosity

I named this picture “Shared Curiosity.” I took it about two weekends ago, I was with two of my friends and it was taken on their front yard. It was taken with a Nikon D3200. I edited it with photoshop, i changed the mood of the picture by adjusting the hue and saturation and also playing around with the color balance and the blur effect to create an airbrushed look. The lighting could have been a lot better due to the fact that we only had one two small candles and one big one.

Allie B - Untitled

I have not named this picture yet. This was taken about a week ago and it was taken in downtown birmingham. It was taken with my nikon camera. I cropped it a little bit and increased the contrast and used auto color on photoshop. I think it could be better if the first part of the picture, really the letter B wasn’t so blurry

Josh B-My F150

The photo this blog statement will be about is Josh B-My F150.  I took this picture the first weekend we were allowed to take pictures for the about me assignment at about two in the afternoon.  I took it my house in my drive way which I pulled out of the garage real quick to snap some photos.  I took the photo with a Canon EOS Rebel SL1.  I did not do that much to the photo but I did use the enhance tool.  I also cropped it a little bit, saturated it a bit as well as changing the shadows about since the sun was not all the way up in the sky.  To make it better I could have pulled the truck completely out of the shadows before I took my photos and used the ‘cooler’ feature as well when I edited the photo.  When I first came in to edit the photos I realized how much of a difference the shadows make when at the time I didn’t pay much attention.

Maricela J- Best Uncle

This picture is called “Best uncle”. It was taken in his car about a month ago. It was taken with my iPhone 5s. I used an app called VSCOcam to edit the picture. I used the F2 filter, exposure to one, shadows to seven, highlights to seven, and sharpened it to two. It could have been better if it was more focused on our faces.

Joicelyn R- PhotoBlog 1

This photo was taken on August 25, 2014 in the front parking lot of Hoover High School. It was taken with a FinePix camera. I edited the picture by enhancing the exposure, contrast, and saturation. I also added definition and highlights to the picture. I also slightly adjusted the temperature. To better the picture, I could have taken it from a different angle and also focused more on the object in the photo. I love taking pictures of people and I love to have pictures taken of me. I plan to develop a skill in photography as a way to make extra money in college.

Hannah L- About Me

The photo i am discussing is About Me #5, this photo was taken August 18 in my room, at my house.i edited the photo by cropping the photo to get rid of some of the extra carpet in the picture , i also retouched and enhanced the photo. i then put the photo on boost 1 and lightened the photo, i also contested the picture. Finally on the picture i put the exposer to 0.39, the contrast at -10, the saturation at 51, the definition at 35,  turned highlights all the way up to 100, and the shadows at 47, and i didn’t touch the sharpness or de-noise. the picture could be better if it was shot with a better camera and if my purse wasn’t in the picture. these are the metals i earned from doing gymnastics which i started when i was 2 years old and i did it up until i was 14. i have enjoyed this assignment because it taught me a few starter tips about my camera and how to angle a shot.

Javon W- Go Bucs

I always look forward to the Hoover High School football games every Friday.  Last year, Hoover won all their games and also won the state championship!

Cross J- The Bike

I took this picture in my garage about a week ago with my nikon camera. i could have edited it better, used a better quality camera setting, or used a better angle for the shot.

Ashley B - Car Wreck

The title of  this image is Car Wreck. This photo was taken the night after our car accident about 6 months ago. i edited the image by adjusting the amount of blue in the photo, and by increasing the definition slightly. . it could’ve been better if i got more of the truck in the photo, but overall, i believe it is decent.

Zayn D- Balcony

I took this picture on my apartment balcony about a week ago. I took this with my digital sony steady shot camera. I adjusted the sharpness and highlights. I think the lighting would’ve been better if I took the picture in the morning rather than the afternoon when it started to get cloudy. I don’t think that there should be so much edge blur.

Michael P- Room Light

The picture i chose was a picture of my light in my room. I used a lot  of editing and stuff like that. I like this picture because it show out the light and i made it like a purple or pink color.

Hunter F- Kota

This is a photo I took of my dog, Kota, with her tongue sticking out.

Matthew M- Champions

The title of my picture is Champions. I took this picture a couple of weeks ago in my dads basement. I took the picture with a  Sony Cyber Shot. I put a black and white filter on it and adjusted the sharpness and saturation. I tried to alter the original image a lot so the fuzziness of image wouldn’t be as noticeable. The way this picture could be better I shooting the subject with a better camera, and make it more clearer. My dad taught me how to box so boxing was a really big part of my life when I was younger.

Zoey E- White Balloons

I took this photo, White Balloons, about to months ago in my house. I took it with a 35 millimeter film camera and after i got the pictures developed I, I took a picture of that developed picture. As far as editing, I just slightly brightened it. The picture could have been better if the camera was positioned farther away instead of close-ip.

Zohra P- 14

This picture was taken on my 14th birthday with my younger brother. when we were at home, with our parents, approximately at 5 or 6 pm. This was taken by my sony cyber shot 12.1 megapixels camera, I didn’t edit the picture at all because I like the way it is. I could have blemished it a little, and it would have been much better.

Will K- Mirror

This image was taken at the Hassinger Daniels Mansion in the Five Points South district of downtown Birmingham. I edited it using the iPhoto Application. I used the "boost" filter and tweaked the definition, sharpness, exposure, saturation, and the contrast slightly. I think that it could be better if I had used a UV lens filter on the camera.
This image represents me because I always feel like life is nothing more than a mirror. You can stare into it all day long but no matter what you will always have imperfections that are out of your control. The fact that the two busts are the same but have "aged" differently shows that no two things are the same even when they are created equally.

Taylor T- WBRC

This photo was taken on August 10 with my Nikon D200. I was in Downtown Birmingham by The Club with my friends. When i edited the picture i decreased the exposure and contrast a little bit. And I increased the saturation. I could have made the picture better by not cutting off the top of the C. And getting less of the dirt under the sign.

Madeline V.-BEST PIE EVER

The picture I chose was “ BEST PIE EVER”, and I took it in my kitchen on December 25, 2013.  I took the picture with my Nikon D3200.  I edited it by boosting the saturation to 64 and blurring the edges a little bit.  I could’ve made this picture better by focusing more on one pie instead of one and then another in the background, or I could’ve set the pie in a different light.

Peyton H- Homeless Chair

The photo is a picture of a Homeless Chair, this chair was seen while just walking around my friends neighborhood with her. Me and my friend, her name is Jesus spotted this Chair just all alone. We began to walk up to the Chair, such a sad sight. The Chairs legs were broken and it seemed to have a focused pink tattoo on its face that reed “Someone once loved me” , our hearts dropped to the floor. I just had to get a picture for the sight was just so hard to bare. Then this women charged from the bushes and with great emotion said “get away from my **** chair”, and we did just that of course with no problem. The chair wasn’t homeless turns out the pink stuff was just spray paint, The Chair wasn’t  homeless just was crazy bush lady, and we are good friends with the crazy bush lady now. The end (:

Tizoc J- Morning Moon

This photo of the moon was taken at 6:12 am,in my back yard. The tittle of this photo is “Morning Moon”. My ISO was set to 100, and was taken at 4.3m and for the camera, I used the Nikon Coolpix P530. I edited this picture by using the blemish remover to remove part of the tree, I left the exposure on zero and put the contrast to 20, while putting the saturation to 56. I also put the shadows slider on 16, and the temperature on 14. This photo could be better if i would have gotten up early to take the shot.

Braxton B- Ceasar

This is a picture that I took at disney world about two years ago. We were riding on the huge safari trucks in the animal kingdom when I took this picture. I call the picture “ Caesar’s picture” or really any picture of a monkey i call Caesar because when ever i see a monkey or ape I think of the movie Planet of The Apes.

Maria V- Roses

This picture was taken about 2 weeks ago at a friend’s house. It was taken with a Nikon D3100. I like the way the picture is how it is and the way the background came out, but If i would’ve taken this picture at a different angle and without flash it could’ve been more dramatic. I chose to use this picture because it’s one of my best and i adore red roses.

Bailey d- Josephine1

The photo I am discussing is Bailey d- josephine1. It was taken over the summer in the town where my beach house is, called Josephine. It was taken with my fujiflim digital camera. I edited it with iPhoto and made the exposure higher. It could be better if there was more greenery in the back ground.

Davis D-Photoblog 1

The title of the selected image is Davis D-Photoblog 1.JPG. This photo was shot at the Brookwood Mall Parking Garage on a Saturday morning. This photo was shot with a Nikon D5200 with a 18-55 VR zoom lens. I edited this photo with iPhoto and I saturated it slighty and added some definition. To improve this photo I could have been in a better position to get a better perspective of the subject.

Sara W- Lightning

The title of the image is called Lightning. I took this picture in the target parking lot in hoover sometime in July. I took this picture with a nikon DS4 with a tripod. I didn’t need to edit this photo because it was dark outside and I didn’t want to make the lightning look unrealistic. I think the picture is kind of blurry and I feel like if i secured it better on the tripod it would have been a lot better.

Noah B.

This photo is called IMG_0104.JPG . I took this photo on August 16th, 2014 right buy an abandoned house. I took it with my Nikon DSLR. I edited it with the app VSCO using a filter. This photo could be better if I focus in on the plant a little bit more and I would put more contrast in the photo.

Samantha A - The Lake

It was taken at the lake behind my house on August 17, 2014. It was taken with my Nikon D2500 and edited with iPhoto. It would be better if the houses in the back were black and edited out to blend in with the black, so they wouldn’t be as visible.

Erin R - we're the beginning of the end

Joe Trohman, of Fall Out Boy, during one of my favorite songs, “Young Volcanoes”.

Natalie S- South of Chile

This picture was taken in the south part of Chile during my christmas vacation last year. It was taken with my digital camera. I edited it by making it a little bit brighter and enhancing it. I could have used a different angle showing the entire mountain instead of just half of it. I like how the sign is in the picture because it makes the viewer not just focus on the mountain but other objects as well. It has a lot of colors which I like a lot.

Peyton H-Happy SKy

This photo is a picture of the sky, the sky seems to look pretty cool at the moment. This picture was taken with my iPhone while in the car. This photo was edited with mostly shadow, a little saturation  and exposure. I am not  satisfied with the photo completely and think many things could be improved of which taking the picture outside the car, more of the sky and a lot less tree at the bottom.

Jacob M. Tree House

The title of this photo is Tree House. It was taken August 17 2014 in my backyard. it was taken with a cannon rebel XS. I edited it with a little retouch, contrast lot of sharpness and definition and a little saturation. It could be better if the fence in the back was gone.

Nick A- Curves in All the Right Places

This photo is titled “Curves in All the Right Places,” because of all of the extreme detail that goes into the car.  The photo was taken a few weeks ago at the Brookwood Mall during a weekly event called Cars and Coffee. This was taken with a Canon 7D with a 28-135mm lens. It would have been better with the use a tripod to get a little more clear. This is my favorite car currently and is very rare to see. This car is worth about $550,000.

Sydnie M- Pier in Panama City

The title of my selected image is “Pier in Panama City.” The picture was taken of The Boatyard Restaurant of the Bay. I took the photo with my iPhone. I put an enhance on it but that is all i did. I think it could be better if a got more of a wider range of shot. This is one of my favorite photos I have ever taken!

Meagan M.-Dexter

This photo was taken on August 17th, 2014 at 4:38pm. It was taken in my front yard while i was playing with my dogs. I edited this picture by adding a little saturation and making it black and white. This photo represents me by showing the love i have for my baby, Dexter. I own a zoo of pets at my house. Dexter is not really a family dog, but my dog. This photo could be better by not cropping out his feet(so i fixed that). In this assignment i loved working with my dogs to get the best pictures. I love to take pictures of my animals and nature. I can’t wait to learn new tricks to take the best pictures.

Leah B- Any

This picture was taken in my back yard at my house. This picture was taken with a Nikon D3200.  For this picture i changed the exposure, contrast and saturation the most. I also changed the definition, highlights, shadows, sharpness and de-noise a little also. To me, this picture has a little blur to it, but not much. That is the only thing, personally, that i would change. In this picture, the digs name s any, and she is a Austrailian Sheaperd, Lab mix.

Emily D- New York

The picture I have chosen for this assignment is labeled “New York”. This picture was taken of my sister, Maggie, while we were visiting family last year on December 28th. We were all on a tour-boat going to see the Statue of Liberty. I took this picture with my new Canon PowerShot SX50 HS, that i had just received that christmas. To edit this picture I increased the exposure and saturation. I also blurred out the people in the back. In order to cover-up the fact I blurred out part of the picture I added the blurring corners effect. Overall these effects, I believe, improved the quality and gave the picture a “different” look. This picture could have been better if the people in the back were not there and the sun was not so bright. I really love this picture because it is a great photo that reminds me of our wonderful family trip, along with many others.

Jeremy L- Longboard

this was taken in front of my house a few weeks ago with a Canon t5i. it is stock, but i could touch it up in photoshop. i wish it had less blur in shoes and shirt.

Lupita G - San Francisco

- It was taken on June 20 in San Francisco, California
- I don’t remember what camera it was I just know it was a Sony.
- I turned it to black and white. The saturation is 100 and the contrast is 30. Temperature is 6.
- The picture could be better if I had taken it in the middle of the road.

- The hill was high!

Kerry M- Bee on a Flower

The image I chose for my first blog post is, “Bee on a Flower”. This photo was taken August 17th at the summit. I took this with my Nikon camera that I am using for the class. To edit this photo I cropped it, raised the contrast and saturation, slightly lowered the exposure, made the temperature warmer, and increased the shadows to 20. To make this photo better I could of changed the depth of field.

Justin C- Memories

The title of the photo I chose is “Memories.” I took it in an abandon house on Park Ave on August 16, 2014. It was taken with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel. I edited it with an outside app named “Mextures.” I think it could be better if I was able to get more light from the window to create more of a silhouette. The image is of my best friend Matthew Olivier.

Cole M- Motion 14

The title of this image is “Motion 14”, due to the fact that the photograph was taken during the Motion students conference. During this last summer (2014), Church of the Highlands hosted a Christian students conference at the BJCC arena in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. When the photograph was taken, a band named Rend Collective, from Ireland, was performing.

The lights from the stage created an interesting dynamic to this picture. I decided to expand the presence of the light, rather than diminish it. I did this because I feel that the light displays the energy emitting from the band. As far as editing goes, I decreased the exposure to -.69 in order to make the light somewhat less blinding. In addition, I increased the saturation to 66 to enhance the blue color the light was giving off. Finally, I increased the highlights, shadows, and sharpness.

I took this photograph on my iPhone 5c. While the camera on the phone is not necessarily a great photo, it was sufficient for this picture as clear image quality was not the focus of the photograph.

Lara M- Seclusion

The name of this picture is called Seclusion. It was taken in my shower which is actually not as dirty as it appears in the picture. It was taken on Saturday last weekend. It was taken with a Nikon D3200. I edited it at home with photoshop right after I downloaded it. It could be a ton better with the lighting and the way I edited it. I could have made the quality appear a lot better but it was my first attempt at a “photoshoot” sort of thing.

kristin s - Iris

This photo was taken in 2010 in my back yard. I took it with just a little point and shoot camera, this photo has not been edited at all. I didn’t think it needed to be. I think i could make this photo better by maybe increasing the color a little bit more and making sure the bottom of the iris is in focus more.

Hannah W- Books at a Glance

The image I chose is “Books at a Glance”. This photo was taken August 16th, 2014 on the bookshelf in my family’s front room library. The photo was taken with the Nikon D3100. I edited this by lowering the exposure and contrast while increasing the saturation with the Black & White filter on. The definition and sharpness were increased all the way and the shadows increased to 21 while the de-noise was increased to 75. This photo could be better if I zoomed out a little and made the books, closer to the front more sharp. My favorite author is Nicholas Sparks and I have read all of his books except for three.

Allie B- Eyelash Curler

The title of this image is eyelash curler. This was taken about 2 weeks ago and was taken with my camera in my room. I edited it making it darker and enhanced the exposure. It could be better if i focused it in more on the eyelash curler and blurred out the background.

Elizabeth R- Photoblog-1

The image selected is titled Photoblog-1. This picture was taken a couple of weeks ago, on the way to the lake. The subject of this picture is just a random shed with a smiley face spray painted on the side of it. I found it interesting because its just so random. This picture was taken with my Cannon Rebel T3. I edited this picture by first cropping it then by increasing the saturation. Also I messed with the contrast level just a bit. This image could have been better by not taking this picture from a moving truck. I would have been able to zoom in farther and gotten a clearer image, had I done this.

Katie J- Double-Wattled Cassowary

The photo is submit is Double-Wattled Cassowary. I took this at the Birmingham Zoo on March 24, 2014. It was taken with a Nikon D3100 DSLR. I enhanced the color, and cropped it to give more focus to the bird. I also sharpened the picture and gave it more saturation.

Justin H- Untitled

I do not have a name for this photo yet, but I have been thinking about a name such as “A day in the shadows” or something like that. I took this photo recently with some friends in some woods behind the Fresh Air Farm around 6 in the afternoon. I was using my Canon T3 like always with a standard 18-55mm kit lens (works just fine for portraits and candids). The only thing I have done to this photo is add a B&W filter, because I love the way it turned out so much I have no need to edit it. The only thing I wish I could change is his stance. I would move his right shoulder back a bit.
