Alexia T - Past

I took this picture in the studio at school during my eighth period class on Friday, November 5th 2021. I named it “Past” because the pieces shown are a direct link to my old life and my position with my old school/program. To edit this photo first I auto adjusted then I slightly adjusted the curve to darken the tones. This picture may have been better if the ribbons weren't as worn and the team pins were polished.

Janae J- Candy Apple

The title of the picture is “Candy Apple”. I took this picture on November 1st in the studio. I took several shots of this subject with various lights and from various different angles. It was taken with a Canon t-6. I edited this picture by dodging and burning the light and dark areas of this picture. This photo would be better if the background was a little more consistent, but overall I really like the outcome of this picture.

Jack L-Clear Roads

The  title of my image is clear roads. This picture was taken the day of the volleyball tournament in huntsville. The picture was taken on the way home in Hartselle. It was taken with my Iphone 12. I edited by bringing the saturation, vibrance, bringing the warmth down, sharpness up and the noise reduction up. It could be better if it was taken inside of a car with a windshield in the way.

Ayla S- Twix

This image is titled “Twix”. This was taken November 2nd outside of my house. I placed the twix bars on a piece of construction paper in my backyard. I took it with my Canon Rebel T6. To edit this photo, I healed a few distracting elements in the background, and used a filter to manipulate the image. It could be a little better if the colors of the neon outline reflected the true colors of the twix bars.

Yori D- Blue Skies

The name of this photo is called Blue Skies. I don’t remember when I took this picture, but I took it outside of pet smart. It was taken with my iPhone 11 and I edited it by darkening the whole photo, but I really didn’t do much to it.

Brandon B- Operation Amber Sky

This photo’s title is Operation Amber Sky.  It was taken during the Auburn vs Georgia game this year on October 9th, during the pregame flyover, and the helicopter flying directly over my section happened to be a Chinook helicopter.  The photo was taken in daylight, but since it was at an Auburn game I decide to make the sky an amber/orange color. The photo was taken with my iPhone 13 Pro.  I edited this with the color replacement tool for the sky and the burn tool for clouds or a smokey look.  For the final touch I used the dodge tool to brighten up some parts of the image.  I believe this photo could be better if I had used the zoom on my camera instead of just cropping it.

Caroline M- Fire

This picture (Fire) was taken September 25, 2021. At DeSoto state park, AL.  I used the Nikon D3300 and we bought a fire color and depending on the temperature of the fire the color would change. I made the vibrance stronger so you could really take in the beauty of the fire and we have blue LED’s on our camper so I toned them down because it was overpowering the fire.

Megan H-Day Car

The name of this image is Car, because this is a picture of my car. I took this image on September 4th, around 7 am. This image was taken with a Nikon camera. I added a black and white filter to this and lowered the exposure. Think I could have gotten a better angle on the car.

Maddie T- Holding On To You

The title of this image is “Holding on to you” and it is a still life picture of a necklace I have. It was taken in october of 2021 in my backyard. It was taken with a canon rebel t100 and edited in photoshop. I applied a black and white filter and brought the contrast up, as well as some dodging and burning. I think it could be better more focused. I love this picture because the phrase on the necklace is the name of my favorite song by twenty one pilots, the band that has had the most impact on

Madison S- Confused Bee

I took this picture in my front yard one day. I edited the color and cropped it.  It could be better if it was sharper.

Elizabeth C- Black and White

The title of this image is Black and White. This photo was taken on the stairs of my back porch in the middle of the day. This picture was taken with my digital camera. I edited this photo by increasing contrast and decreasing light. I then changed the photo to black and white. This photo would be better if all the words outside the lens were b;urred out.

Emily B - Mini Camp Fire

I named this photo Mini Camp Fire. I took the image with my Nikon DSLR camera on September 30, 2021 in my front yard. I re-touched the image so there wouldn’t be any weird shadows. I also increased the orange tint. I think the ground is a little distracting because some parts are blurry while other parts aren’t, so I could have fixed that to make it better.

Will B- Overflow

The title of this image is Overflow because of all of the dice pouring out of the bag. I took this picture during class with the Canon EOS Rebel T6 in the studio on November 5. I retouched a few places, but for the most part this image is unedited except for that and the added text. To improve the image, I could have tried to reduce the glare from the light on the one black die in the middle and maybe played with the image in photoshop a bit more. Overall I think it still looks great as is. I think the quote is really inspiring. As much as I love hanging out with my friends online, it is an entirely different experience to do something in person, and that's something that I’ve been lacking, especially since the pandemic hit. My hope moving forward is to start interacting with friends in person more often.

Hellen A- Pink Reflection

The name of the image is “Pink Reflection.” I took this picture in my front yard September 27, 2021 during the day. I used my Canon Rebel T7 to take this picture. I added a grey filter and made the pink stand out more. I also blurred the second rose so it can reflect the top one. I feel like I could’ve made the flower brighter so it can make the rose stand out more.

Britney P - Visible Web

This was a picture I submitted for the Night&Day Assignment. It’s called “Visible Web.” This was taken on September 20 in front of my apartment. I edited this photo using the burn, dodge, and sponge tools in Photoshop. Originally, I was only planning on taking a photo of the tree, but then, I saw the spider web. I decided to take photos of the spider web instead because I thought it would be a more interesting subject. I also liked the glares that the light source produced. There are many things that could be better. For example, the editing of dark and light areas of the leaves could be much better. However, overall, I’m satisfied with this photo.

Akelsa N- Ship in March

This photo was taken at the ship in like March.  Taken with my canon t7. I just adjusted the color.

It could be less blurry

Jackson B - View From The tracks

The title of this image is The View From The Tracks. This was taken from the train tracks near my house. It was taken on my Canon EOS 6D. I edited this picture by cropping down the frame and darkening the foreground. I think this picture could be better. I had done a better job focusing the camera.

Madilyn B- In The Race

This image is called In The Race. It was taken at Helena Hollows on October 2, 2021. I took this photo with a Nikon D40. I adjusted the definition, sharpness, and vignette of this image. This image could be sharper and cropped more in order to focus the image on the child.

Grace A- Notebook

This photograph is titled Notebook. It was taken on November 4th, 2021, and the scene was set up in my living room. This was taken with a Nikon D50. I edited the photo by playing around with the dodge and burn tool, darkening the shadows on the map and other areas, and lightening the lamp, tassels, and parts of the flowers. I added a filter too, for a vintage look. I wish that I could have made some of the shadows not so dark, so the details could still be visible. Adding a few scratches and dust would have been cool too, contributing to the old look I was going for.

Adam T- Bright Highlights

The title of my image is called “Bright Highlights.” It was taken in the studio behind the classroom and it was during our current assignment, still life. This was one of my narrative pictures and it was taken with a Canon Rebel T-6. I edited the definition and the color just a tad to bump up the highlighter color in the book. I feel like it could be better if I were to make it less funky looking and more to its original photo that was taken before I shifted the color but overall, I really like the vibe the colors give.

Martha Claire D- Forgotten

The title for my selected image is “Forgotten”. This photo was taken in the Preserve on September 25, 2021. It's a photo of a fallen tree in a rather untraveled part of Moss Rock. My friend was off trying to climb a tree… and failing, while I was admiring the growth on this fallen tree. It was taken with my Nikon D5100 camera. It was edited by increasing the saturation, definition, and contrast of the image. I wish that I had been able to sharpen certain parts of the image in order to s

Alexia T- Backyard Drop

This image was taken in my backyard on September 28,2021 on my iphone 6. To edit, I set the exposure to -0.16, the offset to 0.0816, and the gamma correction to 0.5. The sun was my light source for this picture. The picture was originally taken for the night and day assignment and it's labeled “2” because it was edited second. This night and day led me to realize that natural lighting (from the sun) is pretty and looks better than artificial light, especially when edited.

Ani W- Black&White

The title of this picture is called Black and White because I used this for a Still Life assignment. I took this photo in my room with my Canon EOS Rebel T7 camera on Oct. 27th this year. I edited this photo by adding a monochrome filter and adding a blur effect. I could have edited this differently by un-cropping the photo to where you can see his whole body in frame and also enhancing the lighting in front of him. But I think the black and white filter really made all the shadows stand out, and like how the light is positioned behind him.

Carol A-Saturday Night

The title of this image is Saturday Night, this was taken 10/23/21 it was taken with my iPhone 11 and I edit it by cropping the picture and just putting a black filter in it, I think it could have been better if I did more than just cropping it and put a bla

Betsey S- Sunset Car Jams

The title of this image is Sunset Car Jams. I titled it this because I put a picture of my friends singing along to the radio on top of a sunset photo I had taken. The photo of my friends was taken at night when we went to dinner on the way home. The sunset photo was taken the next weekend driving home from an event. They were both taken with my phone because they were in the moment shots and I was not prepared to take the shots so I just got my phone out in the moment. I edited the sunset by bring out the saturation and when adding the friends picture I turned down the opacity of the photo so you could see the sunset in the background. I think It could be better if It started out at the top blurred and then got clearer as the photo of friends appears more.

Marshall F - Lamp

The title of this image is The Lamp. This was taken in my grandparents front yard one night. This picture was taken with an iphone 12 pro. I edited this picture by bringing down the lighting a bit so It looked darker outside. I think this picture could be better if you couldn’t see the sky, and it was just the lamp.

Alex B- Maple Tree

The title of this image is Maple Tree. The photograph was taken at my dad’s house in Hoover at around 5:30 in the afternoon. It was taken on September 30th. This picture was taken with my Iphone 11 Pro Max. This picture was edited to intensify the shadows and outlines of the main focus and increased the saturation and contrast and cleaned up the image of any distractions and other small features in the grass or sky. This tree is special because it was always in my back yard and was one of my very first experiences with natur

Emily B- Dream On

This is a picture of my friend's cat Natasha I took when I went to her house last week. She was so peaceful and relaxed and I thought it would make a good picture. I titled it “Dream On” because she was half asleep. I took it with my iphone and I edited it by increasing the contrast and brilliance as well as decreasing the lighting a little to make her stand out more. It could be a little better by not having as much stuff in the background but overall I think it turned out good.

Alexander M - Cooking

I titled this photograph “Cooking” because my friend and I were boiling water for backpacking meals. This was taken near McDill Point in Talladega National Forest in September of 2021. I took this photo with my iPhone X. I edited this to make the reds of the fuel canisters, box, and dry sack pop out more as well as the fire while also editing it to make the forest a bit more lit up. I think this photograph could have been better if I had taken it when it wasn’t as dark out.

Matthew B- The Fabulous Chief

The title of the image is THE FABULOUS CHIEF It was taken in front of my house and it was during the summer. It was taken with my moms phone. I really don't remember how i edited it its been awhile.  If i was driving it.

JANAE J- The Blues

This photo was taken outside of my house in my driveway. I took this photo with my iPhone 11. I edited this photo by decreasing the light of the photo and increased the contrast of the photo. This photo could have been better if maybe I cropped the photo a little closer or changed the position of the camera or the subject.

Courtni D- In The Tree

The name of this image is In The Tree. I named it this mostly because I couldn’t think of another or a better name. I took this picture at the back of my apartment complex on September 28, 2021. It was taken with a Canon EOS 2000D. To edit this photo I adjusted the lighting (brilliance, exposure, highlights, brightness, and contrast), color (saturation, contrast), curves, and vignette. I like the photo just the way it is and have no idea how it could be better but I would love some feedback.

Sidney A- Butterfly

The name of this image is the butterfly. This picture was taken at my house in early September. This was taken on a Canon SX540 HS. I edited it by changing the filter and the brightness on it. I am happy with the result but it could have been done a lot better.

Isaiah M- Brotheres Backpack

It is an image of my brother’s backpack it a Mario theme so I took an image of it because I like Mario and my brother does too. I made the background blue the backpack blue and made the color more vibrant.

MAry Mason P- My Dog at the Lake

This picture is titled My dog at the lake. This picture was taken on September 5 2021. It was taken with an iphone 12. I edited just by cropping the picture. I could have added better lighting. This was taken at Smith Lake on one of our boats.

BRADLEY B- ATL City View

The title of this image is called ATL city view. It was taken on March 27,2021,In downtown Atlanta at night. I changed the brightness and the tone of the picture and I left the picture how it was because It really didn’t need any editing done to it because of how bright the colors were.I love this image. I enjoy taking pictures when I’m out of town or just going somewhere in general.

Teniyah M- Day1

This picture was taken in Atlanta Georgia at six flags on July 12 2021 with my iphone. I added color and turned the brightness down a little bit. I photoshopped the sky to make it bluer. I think it could have been better if I just had added more colors to it and if I added more brightness.

Sam M- New Shoes

This image is titled, “New Shoes”. I took this in my backyard on october 3rd, the day after my shoes came in.  I really like these shoes and have been wanting them for a while. I brightened the pineapples a little bit using the dodge tool. I probably should've healed or cleaned the scuff marks on the front of the shoes.

Matthew B- Upbeat

The title of this image is called “upbeat.” This image was taken on october 4th, on my back deck in my backyard. It is taken with my galaxy nine. I edited it by raising the brightness and exposure, while lowering the contrast. I think an improvement could be the cropping being straighten out to where my cat isn't at an angle.

Maddie T- Punisher

This photo is a photo of Phoebe Bridgers at her concert in Birmingham on October 4th 2021. The title of the photo is punisher because that is the title of one of her albums and it is the album she is touring for. I edited it by adding a black and white filter and turning the brightness down and the contrast up. It was taken with a canon rebel t-100. I feel as if this image would be better if the focal point was more precise and eye catching.

Floyd G- Night And Day 4.jpg

The Title of This Image Is Night And Day 4 I took this picture in my room at 3 am in the morning. I took this picture with my Iphone 12 pro. I edited this picture by increasing the sharpness so the designs in the shoe pop out more.

Tyler G- Night

This image is called Night. This picture was taken at a concert at Sloss Furnace on September 29th. I took this picture on my iPhone and I edited it using Photoshop. I think it could be better if I had a DSLR camera and if I spent more time editing it. Otherwise, I love this picture and it was one of the best nights of my life!

CAEDEN H- Friends of the Forest

This photograph was taken on September 19th at Smith Lake. I took this picture with my phone which is an iPhone 11 pro. To edit this picture I increased the exposure, contrast, shadows, saturation, brightness, and vibrance. I also slightly decreased the warmth and the highlights. This picture could have been better if I had made the background of the photo less noisy and focused more on the actual mushrooms. The background of the photo pulls away from mushrooms, and that is what I wanted my audience to focus on most.

JONATHAN FIGUEROA P- Waterfall

The title of this picture is Waterfall. I took this picture on October 4, 2020. The picture was taken at a park in Gadsden. I took this picture with my phone. I edited this picture by bringing the contrast just a little bit down since the original picture was too bright. I then set the color green to be more exposed so the background wouldn't be so dry. I think the picture could be better if I took multiple images of it. I only took one and never thought to take another one. It could also be better by doing a different angle. The waterfall looks kinda slanted.

Tyrick H - Funeral Candle

The picture I chose is called a Funeral Candle. This photo was taken in my living room on the top of my fireplace. I took this picture with my phone which is an iphone 11 pro.  I edited this picture using the photoshop app on my computer. I used the burn tool around the edges of the flame. Also I added some blur around the background so you can focus more on the sun=bject of the picture. I honestly think this was my best picture i have ever taken while being in this class, it might even be my favorite. I don’t really think there is anything for me to change about the image.

Martha Claire D- Burning Love

The title of the selected image is “Burning Love”. This photo was taken in September of 2021 in the backyard of my dad’s house. To take this photo I used my Nikon D5100, I also used a red light to illuminate the bear. I edited this photo by increasing the saturation to enhance the color of the fire. I also increased the contrast to help focus the attention of the bear. I think this photo wouldve been better if I had found a way to sharpen the words on the bear without creating too much noise. The only other thing I have to say about taking this image is that everything smelled like burnt plastic after taking this photo, which was not fun.

Marshall H- Foggy Day

The title of this picture is “Foggy Day.” This was taken on my back porch a few weeks ago now; a strong rainstorm passed and it left me with a stunning foggy atmosphere. It was too pretty to not capture. At the time of me taking this picture, I didn’t own a camera, so I took it with my phone. Even though it wasn’t the best device, it still managed to capture nature in its essence. To edit it I added filters to the sides to darken them, I really wanted to make the sun pop as much as possible. I really wish I had a better camera when I took this picture. I also wish I was able to make the sky more vibrant to really make the contrasts I like so much.
