Allyson C- Schloss Neuschwanstein

This picture was taken on the Tegelberg Cable Car near Hohenschwangau, Germany when my family visited Neuschwanstein Castle. The entire trip the area around the castle was foggy, so when the sun came out for a little bit I took this picture with my Canon. I just added a little bit of saturation to this picture and straightened the image a tiny bit. If I took this again, I would fix the sky’s exposure because I think it’s extremely washed out, but other than that I’m very happy with this picture.

Vincent S - “Choose, and Suffer, and Suffer”

I took this ominous photo using my Canon EOS 2000D (Rebel T7) at my church in October of last year. We had a fall festival and near the end, after the gym was no longer being used I thought it had a cool creepy, backrooms-type feel so I took a picture. I didn’t edit this photo but if I did I would definitely make it to where only what is visible under the wall lights is showing so it would look even creepier being just doors under lights.

Patrick C - Medication

The photo I took is titled medication as the tubes are part of a lab in a box that is not used when I get my medication.  It was taken in my kitchen in October 2022 with my nikon d40x.  This photo could be a lot better especially where I took the picture, I could have still kept it in my kitchen but without the line going across it.  The focus of the image could also be better along with the lighting.  The reason why I have a lab in a box is because I have JRA or juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and get medication for it every 4 weeks.

Ryan G- Carson

Here is a picture of my nephew Carson at my dads lacrosse tournament in Florida. I took this in portrait mode so it would blur the background and focus more on him. For editing I mainly just adjusted the colors. The only thing I would change about this picture would be taking the hand out of the frame.

Jamie T- Mr. Rigsby

I call this image Mr. Rigsby. It was taken a few weeks ago out in the courtyard near the rear gates. I took it with my phone. I cropped this image some, sharpened it, and added a darkening around the edges. I feel like if I took it with a real camera it might be better, and I still think it looks pretty good.

Dylan T - Studying

I took it sometime last year, maybe in November or December for our still life project in Mr Rigsby’s studio. I didn’t really do much but mess with the brightness and contrast some and crop it in on the sides. If I could retake it i would try to get the lighting to be more from above or from the other side so it mimics a lamp shining down on the notebook and stuff but besides that i think it came out nicely

Logan S- Boba

The title of this photo is Boba. I took this photo in my kitchen at night. This photo was taken with a Kodak AZ252 digital camera. For the editing, I made the picture black and white and added more background blur. I think this image could have been better if I had cropped it closer to the Minifigure.

Will M- Work

The title of this image is work, this is because the photo is of my apron that I wear at work. I took this photo using my dads camera and I took it during the start of this class. I edited the photo to try and make it so the apron didn’t blend in with the background. The photo was also dark so I brightened parts of the apron to make it stick out more. The photo could have been better if I just got a better picture in general and I could have changed the background and lighting so I didn’t have to edit the apron so much.

Mohamid S- Honda Civic

The title of this photo is Honda Civic. This photo was taken at my uncle's house it was taken on a weekend. To edit this photo I did some simple stuff like changing the contrast, highlights, saturation, and shadows. I personally think I could have focused the camera more making the photo look a lot cleaner.

Peyton K- Candle

I took this photo for the night and day assignment. It is of a candle in the dark. I like the light it gives off. I would crop it. I really think this photo captures the candle well. It was taken in my kitchen with the lights off. This was taken in September with my Nikon camera.

Kate M- Quiet Please

The title of this image is “Quiet Please” because this was taken at a punk show that was in the Birmingham Library. It was taken with my Nikon D5600 and I edited it by turning the saturation up, black point up, and messing with the curves. I wish the flag with the band's name, B.O.R.N., was hung up better so the name was showing. Great show 10/10.

Layla Q- Basement Rehearsals

The title of this image is Basement Rehearsals, inspired by the image itself. This photo was taken on Janurary 28, around 4pm at Joey’s house. The image was taken with my Canon PowerShot SX500 IS with the flash on. I edited it by increasing the hue, saturation, cropping the left side a bit, and decreasing the exposure as well. I think this could have been better if I had taken the photo at a different angle and captured a few more moments. I enjoyed taking it though :).

Evan S- Downtown Alley

I call this image “Downtown Alley”. It was taken on Feb 7 in downtown Birmingham. It was taken with my Nikon 3000. It is not edited. It could be better if I edited it.

Nakeeya M- Late Night Drives

This image is called Late Night Drives. I took this image in the middle of a conversation with my mom while we were on the way home. I've always enjoyed watching the sun set because it makes me happy. Honestly, I just love how beautiful it looks. This image was taken with my phone. And I didn't edit this image, honestly; I just loved the way it looked. I think it would be better if it wasn't blurred, but I still like it either way. Plus, we were driving, so it still would have been blurred.

Matthew H- Two Tone

This picture is called “Two Tone”. I took this picture of my friend for the portrait assignment using a Canon Mark II camera. This was my first time using the studio so I played around with different color lighting and ended up getting this shot. I made very few edits to the picture because I really liked how the colors looked straight out of the camera, but I did brighten the picture up a little bit and slightly increased the contrast. I think I could have made the picture a little better by having a brighter light on the right side of his face so that it wasn’t so hard to see that side (but I also think it looks cool with only the left half visible).

Lana Q - Untitled

I don't really have a title for this photo. This is a picture of my twin sister Layla and we took this photo in the art hallway right outside of the photography classroom. I took this photo with my Canon Eos Rebel T3. I edited this photo by changing the tone completely. I made it very warm and red and made it a little black and white. This photo was also posed. If it were slightly less blurry it might be better.

Jade S- Orlando Views

This is an overhead view of Orlando, FL I took on my iPhone 11 Pro Max back in July of last year. I thought it was a really cool picture with how the lights looked from how high we were. I tried to saturate it a bit so the lights could stand out a little more but it didn’t really work. Overall, I think it's really cool.

Emma B- Dog Walk

I took this photograph on January 9, 2023, when I and my friend Kauan were walking our neighbor's dog who was on vacation. We were just in our apartment complex walking her. I took this image with my iPhone 11 in portrait mode. How I edited this image was first cropping it to focus more on Kauan, then I adjusted the saturation, hue, contrast, temperature, highlights, black points, and shadows. I wish the quality was much better and I got more of the beautiful sunset in the background. The dog's name is Cookie and she is a very stylish dog as you can see by her wearing that bright pink sweater. :)

Nathan E- The Drive

My drive is a photo I took as I was driving home on Sunday afternoon. Was my idea safe? Well some would say no but the photo did turn out pretty well so was it worth it I say would yes. What I mainly did was up the color contrast to make the colors show up better and I messed with the warm tone scale to give my hand more of a natural color. I really wish I had my middle ring up right but other than that I liked the photo as it is.

Milan S- Outside Of The Camera

This is called outside of the camera, I chose this because of the angle and I like the way it looks. It was taken in the courtyard of the school on the 20th. I took it with my iphone and I edited it by darkening the picture slightly then getting rid of some blemishes to make it look smoother. Lastly, I sharpened the camera lens and the sky.

Josmary L- Highlighting Colors

I took it on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Ned Bearden Stadium during my boyfriend's football game, I took it with my iphone 13, I don't need much editing as the colors came out perfect in the photo, it was only necessary to add a little of lighting, I liked everything about it. The photo would not change anything.

Courtney L- Golden Goose

The title of this image is called “Golden Goose” This picture was taken at a football game of my little sister’s shoes while were watching my younger brother play. It was taken with my canon camera. I didn’t really edit this photo I let it be normal as is due to how good the lighting was and the way the photo came out. I feel like this picture can be a little better if the shoe was moe focused and blur in the background of the picture.

Emily K - Soaring

This photo is called “Soaring” and it was taken on January 10, 2023 with my Canon t7 in my front yard. I cropped and darkened the pictures a little to make the sky stand out more. I think it would be better if I adjusted the brightness on my human subject because you would be able to see her better.

Diana P - Traffic

The title of this image is “Traffic.” This picture was taken sometime in July in Hoover. I took the picture with a Canon Powershot SX530 HS. I put a filter on the camera when I took the picture so that’s why it looks purpley. I didn't edit it because I liked how it had cme out already. I think it could be better if it was more focused.

Taylor D- Formal Portrait

The title of this photo is Formal Portrait because it was used in the assignment. I sort of looks as if I was going for a 3d theme because of the colors. I edited this by making it darker and sharper. This was taken in the studio on my iphone 14 pro max, it honestly isn’t a way to make it better.

Wendy S- Focused

My photo is titled “Focused” This photo was taken in an art class on a schoolday. This photo was taken with my phone, I edited it by adding color to it and I brightened it, I also blurred out the background so that the artist's painting would be the main focus of the picture. It could’ve been better if there wasn’t much going on in the background but overall I liked it.

Anna Gale H- Pose

This image is called “Pose”. It was taken while I was playing soccer at the met. I really like this image because of how ge was posing with the ball. I made the green brighter while editing. I think it could have been a little clearer.

Kamron Y - Heads Up!

The title of this photo is “Heads Up!” This was taken at the met turf fields while I was practicing soccer. This was taken with my Iphone 14 mini in portrait mode for the close up and regular for the kicker. To edit it I took another photo and cut out Anna (the kicker & close up subject) and put her behind the close up shot. I then blurred the kicker a little bit to make any imperfections a bit less obvious. I think it could be better with a better quality camera but overall i'm pretty happy with it.

Lana Q - The Thing You Think You Cannot Do

The title of the image I selected is “The Thing You Think You Cannot Do.” I actually took this picture at our school and it was taken in mid-January. I took this picture with my Canon Rebel T3 Digital Camera and I used one of Mr. Rigsby’s zoom lenses. I edited this picture's tone and brightness and contrast, I brought out a warmer tone and sharpened the photo just a little. I do think if it was focused a little more it could be better.

Reagan B - Salem

The title of this photo is “Salem” because that is the name of the kitty. This was taken in my friends room on January 12th of this year. This was taken with Canon EOS 1D and I didn’t do very much editing other than turning the exposure down. This photo could be better if I cleared out some of the clothes off the green chair.

Nikolaus H- The Modern Middle Class

This image is called “The Modern Middle Class”. I took this photo 9 weeks ago in North Carolina at a Dollar General. The image was shot with my Pentax k1000 camera. This photo was edited by reducing the saturation and contrast to give it a washed out, grungy look. It could be better if I took the photo later in the day for lighting.

Kenneth J- An Introduced Smile

The name of this portrait is called an Introduced Smile, the name came from when I was taking this picture I was introduced to my friend Dylan smiling for the first time. The picture is so nice and was taken around early January for a portrait assignment and the picture came out wonderful because it was taken in the photography room. This was taken with a digital camera using no flash and natural lighting to really capture the perfect contrast between light and dark. I decided to capture the best ways to change the picture to black and white then heighten the brightness up to make the skin complexion lighter. The picture is wonderful for me. My only change would have to be to keep it without the black and white filter to capture his natural skin.

Bray M- Book Smart

The title of my picture is Book Smart.  It was taken at Samford during Sadies with my Phone. I added more light and took all the colors away when I edited it.  I think I could have turned up the focas when I took the photo to make it better.  I took 5 different versions of this photo and this was the best outcome let me know on any improvements I could make.

Ashton T - Painting

The title of this image is “Painting”. It was taken in my kitchen in November. It was taken with my NIKON D80 and I didn’t edit it at all. I think I could have done a little bit of editing with the lighting and made it slightly sharper, but I still think it looks very nice. My mom has lots of art supplies and I would love to take more photos of them in my free time because I think they look very cool and used. I wish the camera was more focused on the paintbrush to show off the interesting texture it’s gotten over the years.

Helen S- The Hike

I titled this image “The Hike”. I took this in Blue Ridge, Georgia while at Lake Blue Ridge over the holiday break. I took it on my Sony A6500 with a new portrait lens. I only edited out a part of someones’ arm on the edge of the image, other than that I didn’t do any other editing. I think the focus could have been better and it might look nicer with more of the rocks in the image. Just to give the image more contrast. Overall I just thought this picture looked cool.

Benji H - Artist's Review

This piece is titled Artist’s Review. It was taken with my Cannon camera in a cleared out space in my living room. My friend poses as a colorful artist enjoying the fruits of their labor. To edit this image, I increased the contrast of lights and darks and blurred the background to heighten the focus on the subject. Regardless of the many tools I tried, none truly helped the lighting. So in the end, it did end up a little darker then I had intended. Nevertheless, I like the vibe I was able to give this as I was inspired by my favorite director, Wes Anderson.

Amelia G- Reagan

I named this image Reagan. This was taken for the Portrait Assignment and it was taken in the photoroom. I took it with the Canon EOS REBEL T3. I edited it by adding contrast and a little bit of brightness. I think it could be better if her face was more detailed. I really like the colors and the way that the light hits her face.

Amber H- Calm

This picture is titled Calm. It was taken in January 2023 at The Met playground. This picture is titled calm because it was moments before it started pouring rain. At the time it was just sprinkling and a little windy. I have not yet edited this picture because I havent gotten the chance to but I would try to fix some of the shadows around her and on her face as well as change some of the contrast and brightness in certain areas.

Ahmad J- The Pyramids of Giza

The photo was taken in Cairo Egypt, though I guess that's not hard to guess. It was taken during the summer while I was employed in Egypt. It was taken with my iPhone and I edited it by cropping it, bumping up the saturation, and editing out a few people. It would be better If I had been able to capture the 3rd period in the shot in my opinion. Rather pleased with the photo overall.

Steven L - Fighterz

This picture is called Fighterz. It was taken on November 2, 2022 and it was taken at the studio. I edited this image by increasing the definition of the image and also increasing the noise reduction to its maximum. I think it could be better if I increase the contrast or the brightness of the image.

Crystal V- Sisters

The title of this photo is called Sisters. This photo was taken at a farm on October 10 of last year. I used a Sony alpha a6100 to take this picture. How I edited this photo was cropping it a little and making the colors in the photo brighter. This photo could be better if it was less blurry.
.

Maci J-Robin

The title of this image is Robin. I took this photo on 02/5/23 and it was in a small field behind my house. There was at least 10 or more of these birds when I went out to take photos. This photo was taken with my Canon Powershot camera. I did a fair amount of editing to this photo. First, I cropped in a lot because there was a lot of foreground and background. Then I made minimal adjustments to highlights, vibrance, etc. I wanted the bird to be a lot more vibrant so I used a mask layer on photoshop to just make the bird more colorful. This photo might have been better if I got closer to the bird ( I was honestly very far away this was very zoomed in). I don’t have any particular feelings on this photo; the depth of field is pretty cool.

Maddox D - Crying Statue

Crying Statue. I took this at a national park in Florida. It was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T6i. I added contrast and changed the exposure. I made it black and white and put a slight tint on the photo. I could have shot it at a better angle with better lighting.

Dori H - Suppressed Emotions

This is a picture of my friend Anna gale and it is called “Supressed Emotion”. It was an easy shoot because it was taken in the studio. I took multiple formal portraits of her looking at different angles with similar facial expressions. I then took each individual image and overlaid a different color that represents an emotion. The final step was to overlay three of my favorite shots together with a lowered opacity.

This image can be perceived differently but my personal idea behind this image was to show people suppressed emotions through colors and overlapped faces. This was a really fun picture to edit and it is probably one of my favorite images so far.

Ayda M- Driving

I took this picture this past December in the car with my family on my way home from my grandparents house.I took this with my Canon Rebel T7i. I edited this photo by lowering the brightness, increasing the saturation and contrast. I think if the picture was taken from higher up I would like it more that way more of the car was in the photo.

Ken P- Positive Vibes Only

I called this photo”positive vibes only” it was taken in my home on my iphone 13 a little over three weeks ago  while I was doing a project for economics. I edited by making it blend more with the durag on top of my head( I tried my best to make it make sense lol). I personally dont think that their was anything else I could’ve done. I just took the picture just to remind myself that no matter how hard things get, always have positive vibes only!!!! 😀

JEREMIAH T- Red & White

The title of the picture is called red & white , it was taken in my room on my desk. It could be better in light instead of the flash light.

Dylan T- My Football Helmet

Pretty obvious but this is a picture of my football helmet that i took maybe in september/october. I really dont have much to say about this but I really like it most because of the colors. The red and pink brings out the mouthpiece and it looks great in my opinion. I took this with Mr. Rigsby’s camera so I don’t exactly know what type it is but it came out really well in my opinion. I didnt do anything really but crop it down a little bit so yeah.
