Nathan E- Hunger Games

The title is Hunger Games. I made this for a composite assessment . I think I should’ve blended it better.

Wendy S- Bella

 No Statement Provided

Yasmin H- Calmness

This photo was taken on our field trip at the Birmingham Zoo. I took this photo off of my phone. I edited it using studio light, highlights, shadows, brightness, and a little of saturation and vibrance. I think this photo could be better by adding less saturation or vibrance.

Vincent S - "No Way Out, One Way Forward"

 No Statement Provided

Patrick C - Another World

The image I choose is a heavily edited photo of trees in a type of kaleidoscope edit.  I named it Another World because of how I edited it with the purple leaves and the symmetry that is made from the kaleidoscope effect.  The original photo was taken in my backyard and was cropped to exclude anything that wasn’t a tree.  I then changed the contrast and coloring so that it has an otherworldly feeling.  The way that the photo could be better is with how the sky turned out, I would want it to be one single color instead of the 2 shades of blue.

Dylan B- Composite Picture

This picture is just called composite picture (it was for the composite assignment.) Their is 3 different photos in this picture and they were all taken at different times this school year. All these photos were taken with my phone. I’m not quite sure how this picture can get better if im being honest.

Reagan B - Aged

This photo is titled “Aged” and was taken April 6th of this year at The Birmingham Zoo. This photo was taken with Canon Powershot SX500 and to edit it I added more color and clarity to bring out the details on the elephant in this photo. I think I did an overall good job on this photo and there isn’t really anything that I wish was different about this photo.

Jamie T - Flamingo

The title I have for this image is called flamingo. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo about a week ago. I took this picture with my phone. As it is right now it is unedited. I really like the fact that it is unedited because it shows how this photo could look absolutely amazing if i edit it, since it still looks great unedited. While taking this image I, unaware, was almost pecked by a different flamingo unexpectedly.

Emily K - Golden Leaves

This image is titled “Golden Leaves” and it was taken in my backyard on August 28, 2022 with my Canon t7. I honestly didn’t edit it that much because the natural lighting from the sun was pretty by itself. I think it could be better if I brightened up the background, but at the same time, I like the contrast. I also like the
natural imperfections on the leaves and the unfocused light in the background.

Nakeeya M- Flights

This image is called flights. This image was taken on my way to either disney or jamaica, I really can't remember, but I really like this image because of the way I edited it and made it look honestly, the only way I think this image would be better if it were turned a little to match up with how the wings of the plane look, but over all, I really love this image; it just stands out to me and makes me feel happy because it combines two things I love in one image.

Ashton T - Pink Trees

The title of my image is “Pink Trees”. It was taken on my way home from school sometime in 2022. It was taken with my iPhone. I edited it by adjusting the colors and using a color filter from the NIK Collection that made the image brown/yellowish which looks very pretty in my opinion. I also made the image a kaleidoscope by copying and pasting the image 3 times and rotating them. I then added a greenish-brown border color picked from the trees to tie the colors together. The only thing I would change about the image is probably the center, as it looks strange and bothers me for some reason. In all, I really like the filter I used in this image and I want to use it again in the future!

Helen S- Lion Fish

I titled this image Lion Fish. I took this picture last week while on the photography field trip to the zoo. I took this picture with my Sony A6500 using a portrait lens. I think the picture could have been sharper if the glass was thinner or less dirty. I feel like thoes things did inhibit the image quality a bit but overall I really like this picture.

Ayda M- June 10

I took this picture last summer at my grandparents house. I took this picture with a Canon Rebel T7i. I edited this picture to look like an older photograph taken on a film camera. I increased the grain, adjusted some of the colors, and added a white border around the picture. If I had been able to make this picture look authentically old I would have liked it better but overall I really like the photo.

Nikolaus H- Stitching

The title of this image is “Stitching” and it's a kaleidoscope photo. It was taken in my living room a few months ago with my Pentax k1000 camera. I edited it by taking a clip of the original photo and duplicating it to create this. On top of that, I put a red filter and used the Silver Efex Pro filter. This image could be better if I got better lighting when taking the photo along with cleaning the film before scanning.

Emma B- Penelope In Nature

This image is of my dog Penelope! She’s a Chihuahua Yorkie mix and is 6 years old. I took this photograph on April 5, 2023, in the backyard of my new house. I took the image with my iPhone 11 in portrait mode. I edited this image by adjusting the contrast, highlights, shadows, black points, structure, warmth, tint, and sharpen. It could be better if when I took the image it didnt blur her crazy fur since thats her best feature. Since shes half Yorkie all we wanted was for her to have hair on top of her head so we could put bows in it but she got it on her neck instead!

Bray M- Cowboy Reflects

I took this picture while on break at my job let me know what could be done to make it better.

Kenn J- Untitiled

The image I created doesn't have a title that I think truly its it for me. These were taken during March and was taken in the Photography studio. These were all taken with an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I cropped in one each picture of the area of the image I wish to use and from their I applied a filter from Photoshop to transform it and make it into a more neon brightness. I think the pictured turn out well the only thing that would make it better for me is if their were more willing people to participate and take pictures for this composite.

Ally C- Flags and Flowers

This photo was taken in Brussels, Belgium in late afternoon. This was outside of a belgian fry place and I thought it looked cool. This was taken with my iPhone 11. I added some contrast and vibrance when I edited this picture. I think I could have made this picture better by taking it from a different angle.

Dori H - Arcade Fever

The title of this image is Arcade Fever. I suppose you can say that it depicts the overstimulated environment of a flashing arcade. It was taken at the Homewood bowling alley which had an arcade connected to it. I took the base image of the arcade almost over a year ago. I like how I was able to twist such an old image into a unique piece months later. It shows me that even bad shots can be turned into art.

I mainly overlaid many random cuts from different images, like for example the time I went to this really fun rock concert and I took a picture of the graffiti in the bathroom there.(The bathroom was super cool, it has stickers graffiti, and colorful pinatas everywhere!) I used the cut words from the graffiti and liquefied it to make it wavy. Then I added more cuts and then added a filter that enhanced the blue and red colors to give it a sorta eerie effect.

This assignment showed me that even a picture of a pencil can enhance the beauty when overlaid on a completely different object. The layers and filters were really fun to play with, it really sparked ideas for future projects. I did dislike how picky I was with the placement and colors of everything. If one aspect of the image was off, it was difficult to figure out how to alter it to a way of my liking. Hopefully, I will be able to practice finding the flaws in my images early on so that I will not become as frustrated with flawed work. Very fun assignment!

Diana P - Flamingo

The title of this image is “Flamingo.” It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo in April. I took this picture with a Canon Powershot SX530 HS. This picture isn’t edited, I don’t know how it could be better.

Cooper G - The Light of God

I took this picture on an airplane on the way to Miami for Spring Break on my iPhone 13, of course, the sky doesn’t naturally look like that. This photo was used for the kaleidoscope assignment, I used the analog effects filter from the Nik Collection tab. This photo could have been better if I took a little better of the photo originally.

Maddox D- Bridge

It was taken downtown. It was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T6i. It was a panoramic image and I slightly raised the contrast. I could have blended the lighting in the images a little better.

Benji H - Church Kaleidoscope

The original photo was taken inside a church in downtown Montgomery with my phone camera. I used the arches and colors to my advantage when creating my kaleidoscope in order to give it more symmetry and visual appeal. I feel like it gives off Scooby Doo vibes. However, I do wish it was less grainy but it was hard to get all the details due to the ceiling being so high up. Regardless, I had a lot of fun with the color adjustments and I believe it really created a cool result.

Amelia G- Garden Child

The title of this image is “Garden Child”. It was taken at my grandmother's house sometimes during spring break. I took it with my iPhone 13 and I edited it by lowering the exposure, adding contrast, and adding a bunch of layers. There is a flower layer, a layer with string lights, and a light reflection from a CD. I honestly wouldn't change anything about this image.

Ken P- Random

I called this picture”Random”. It was taken a while back on a family trip. It was taken with my iPhone 11 at the time. I edited it by adding more highlights to the picture so the green can pop out a little more. I dont think it couldve been better. But I tried.

Muriithi M- A Little Too Harsh

This was taken around the Galleria Mall, it was afternoon and I thought that it looked nice with the other buildings and such surrounding it. And just to entertain my amusement I thought to myself “Hmm, what if I went into photoshop and cranked the brightness of the sun?” And I did just that. I also buried parts of the background to drive that home and make it look a tad bit more 3d which I’m pretty happy about.
I think the one thing I could change is crop it just a little bit more to focus on the sun because there is just a white empty space to one of the corners that looks quite ugly.
Aside from that, happy with how this turned out

Evan S- Potential Album Cover

I call this image “Potential Album Cover” It was taken in Downtown Birmingham a few weeks ago,and had the Analog effects pro as editing. I also added orange highlights, and cropped it down to be square.I think I could have provided more details and colors, but overall, it's alright.

Dylan T- Caesar

I called this photo Caesar because it reminded me of Rome. I took it in Mr Rigsby’s photo studio for the portrait project a few weeks/months ago. I took it with my Canon Rebel T7. I actually edited it with some of the NIK Collection editing things with the noise and sharpness but thats about it

Taylor D- Pathway

This picture is of a random pathway around my house and I could've made it better if it were sharper and cool tones. This was taken on an iphone 11

Nekeeya M- My Dog

This picture is of my dog. I did not really edit this photo that much i just blurred it and messed with the lighting. This image was taken with my phone.

Mohamid S- Island

Island, the name of the photo, was taken outside of a house on the first Sunday of March. I took this photo using an iPhone and did some basic editing. I adjusted the exposure, highlights, shadows, temperature, tint, and hue of different colors. I am unsure of what I could have done better I would like to hear your thoughts.

Sophia T- Look!

The title of this image is “look!” because my friend is shown pointing towards something in the background. This image was taken on a small chunk of land behind my friends’ house which we had to canoe to. I edited this photograph by lowering the exposure (as it was a little over exposed) and increasing the light blue color saturation in order to make the sky more visible.

Yasmin H- The City

This picture was taken at my best friend's birthday party. We were on a roof at the City Club. I took this off of my phone. I edited this picture using highlights, shadows, saturation, and vibrance. This picture could’ve been better if I brightened it up a little bit more.

Anthony S- Car Meet

This photo was taken in february the 18 at 7:48 pm on saturday i took this photo with my sony a6000 camera i was with my friends at a car meet we saw a supra so i decided to take a photo and when it was the nest day i decided to edited by making it a little brighter by 0.35 and made the highlight by -0.28 but i think it looks pretty good but please tell what you think i should change about it.

Emma B- Matthew With The Milk

This image is actually two images put together! I took the first photograph on January 21, 2023, at Sadies and the picture of Matthew was taken on January 26, 2023, in the cafeteria. I took the first image with my iPhone 11 in 0.5 and the second image was taken in portrait mode. I edited this image by cutting Matthew out,  inserting him into the image in the background, and blending the edges to match the background. Then, I darkened the cut-out by adjusting the contrast, highlights, shadows, black points, and I added color with hue. I wish the quality were better but other than that I really love this!

Ryan G- Arthur Ravenel JR Bridge

Here is a picture of the Arthur Ravenel JR bridge in south carolina. I took this picture when I was on a Harbor tour. For editing I made it look like it was a better day out. I made it so the sky was more blue and the bridge had more color to it.

Layla Q- Saturday Afternoon

The title of this image is “Saturday Afternoon”. This was taken while me and my friends were walking through Josephs neighborhood in February. It was taken with my Canon PowerShot SX500 IS. I honestly did not feel the need to edit it, I think I cropped it a bit. It would be better if I had the camera on a tripod and could hold the camera a little more steady.

Lana Q - Witches Alter

The title of this image is Witches Alter. I took this photo in a metaphysical store which I believe is called Hex in New Orleans, Louisiana. I was taken with my Canon EOS T3 digital camera. I edited this photo with the Nik collection filters, using several different ones, actually. I messed with the saturation and contrast and blurred the photo. I believe it could be better if the natural lighting was better in the first place. I just thought it was a very beautiful thing to see and wanted to share it with other people.

Jade S- Creel House

The title of this photo is Creel House. I took this back in July in Rome, GA while going to different places where Stranger Things was filmed. This photo was taken with an Iphone 11 Pro and I edited it by bringing up the brightness and saturation. I probably shouldn't have brought the saturation up as much as I did and I should've used a different camera.

Reagan B - Frozen in Time

The title of this image is “Frozen in time”. This photo was taken in my friend Joseph’s room on January 16th of this year. This was taken with a Cannon EOS - 1D and I edited this photo by turning the brightness down to add more depth to the details in the items. I feel like in order to make this photo look better, I got more of the desk, to give it a longer feel.

Amelia G- Wimsical

The title of this image is Whimsicle. This photo was taken in some neighborhood in Birmingham. I took it a few months back when it was still gloomy and cold. This photo was taken with my Nikon D-200. I edited it by playing with the Dfine effect to get ride of some of that grain and i also also added contrast. I honestly love this image. I love how the sun makes the whole photo darker and gloomier. I love how it looks sort of angelic with the exposure and the amount of light that was let in.
