VINCENT S- “Camera Jumpscare”

This picture of my friends was taken in my second-period Spanish class sometime near the beginning of the school year with a Canon EOS 2000D (Rebel T7). I didn’t edit it, but it probably would have been better if I had taken a picture of someone else altogether. I think the subject would have liked that as well.

Dylan B- Friends Cousin

The title of my image is “My y Freinds Cousin.” It was taken at my friend Laurins house and it was taken on January 1st. It was taken on my phone (iPhone 12 mini.) All I did to edit this image was turn the brightness down and cropping the picture.

COURTNEY L- Pepperoni Pizza

The name of my image is titled “pepperoni pizza”, this pictures was taken one night in my kitchen as obviolusy we were having pizza for dinner that night. This picture was actually taken on my phone as a quick shot before everyone dived into the pizza. It was edited through the photo’s app and to edit the photo i increased the brilliance, exposure, shadows, brightness and light exposure, contrast,  black point, and decreased the highlight of the image. The saturation and contrast was also increased.  Feel like this image can be better if some effects were added to the photo.

Kate M- Ignignokt

The title of my photograph is “Ignignokt” which is a character in a show. It was taken at my work in the month of November on the dumpster behind the building. It was taken with my phone camera and I didn’t edit it because I just enjoyed the colors. The lighting and position could be better. I see this written all over Hoover and downtown Birmingham and I love taking pictures and finding as many as I can.

Anthony S- My Hat

So the name of this photo is called my hat had it for 2 years but i barely put it on and when i was in my room taking random photo i saw my hat then i just took a photo of it change the brightness to 0.32 and made the color 0.08 then on vignette strength to 0.25 and radius to 0.50 but overall i like it but tell me what you think i should change about it.

Peyton K- Montana

I took this image in the summer in Montana. I really liked the way the horses were together. I cropped the photo and adjusted the brightness/contrast. I love the lighting in this photo and the scenery with the mountains in the background.

Jamie T- Fire Place Tools

This was taken at my house in November. I took this picture with my phone. I  edited it by sharpening it and making it black and white. I feel like it could be better if I had the actual fireplace in the background. But overall I thought this picture came out quite good.

Crystal V- Bed

The title of this photo is bed. I took this photo at my boyfriend’s house on new years eve. I took this photo with my phone. I edited this photo by just putting a color filter on it. How this photo could be better is by it being a bit clearer and not blurring and a bit brighter.

Kaylee O- Sunset

This photo was taken in Cherokee Hills, as I was coming back from Louisiana. The sun set looked so pretty I had to capture the picture. The time was 16:27 and sundown is 16:44. This photo was edited and I changed the color balance and the hue and saturation to make the blue and the pink more of a vibrant color. I think it could be better with how dark the sides are. Lighten it where I can see the limbs of the trees and it's all kinda dark. This image reminds me of all the fun we had in Louisiana and how my family pretty much took in my best friend and the crazy stuff we did.

Reagan B - drive way kitty

The title of this is called Driveway Kitty and it was taken in Mississippi on December 22nd of 2022. This was taken with my iphone 11 pro max because it was the closest on hand. I edited this picture by adding more saturation to really bring out the eyes, as well as I cropped it because their was a car in the top left corner. This photo could be better if i had moved back a little and got more of the cat in the photo.

Taylor D- Pink

The title of this image is pink because the image is overall pink & I like the color pink. This was taken in my front yard 1+ years ago. This was taken with my iphone 11. I focused mainly on the flower. I dont think there is anything i couldve done to make it better.

KENN J- Freedom Reader

The title is called Freedom Reader. This was taken late last year when we wwere working on an assignment for the class. Te picture was taken with a camera borrowed from Mr. Rigsby. I darkened the brightness and toned the image. I think I could have made the pages brighter and sharpened the edges specifically.

Kameron P- Rainy Day

I took this photo at a red light just left of the Riverchase Galleria and this photo was taken about a month ago but I said to myself it's a nice rainy day and there's a Porsche right there so why not take a quick pic of it. Lol but I edited this photo by just making it a little dark because it was already kind of dark because of the rain so I said lets put a shade on it. In my opinion it could be better without the 4runner in front of me in the way it would've been better to see up ahead .

Emmanuel M - Hat Collection

The title of this image is “Hat Collection”. This photo was taken on Aug 23, inside my room with my Nikon D5000. I edited this picture by putting a vivid cool filter on it and cropped it so that the image was straight. Lastly, I think to improve the photo I could put the brightness down because I do think it's just a little too bright.

AHMAD J- Moon at Sea

This photo is called the moon at sea. It was taken in clearwater Florida around 8pm. This was taken with my iphone 11. I modified the image by removing various boats and lights at sea. I also increased the exposure somewhat. I would like it if the photo of the moon was clearer so you could actually see the moon itself and not just the glow it emits.

Layla Q- Meyers Plants & Pottery

The title of this photo is Meyers Plants & Pottery. It was taken in Pelham at Meyers Plants & Pottery (thus the title), on December 27 during winter break. This one was taken on my Canon PowerShot SX500 IS. I decided to edit this picture quite a bit, especially focusing on the brightness, contrast, as well as warmth and hue- attempting to bring more of a tan tone to the photo itself. If I had taken it from a different perspective and lowered the ISO then I believe that it would have turned out way better than the result. Though I do really like this as is. :) Also, this place is beautiful- definitely give it a visit some time!

Nakeeya M- Cloudy Peace

This image was taken on Spring Break last year while I was on my way to Disney World. This image was taken with my phone because I couldn't find my camera in time. I didn't really edit this image much because I wanted a more natural look, but I did turn the brightness up just a little. My image could have been better if I didn't have my big hand in the way of the clouds, but I like it how it is.

Logan S- Sponge

The title of this photo is Sponge. I took this photo in my kitchen at night. This photo was taken with a Kodak AZ252 digital camera. For the editing, I made this image sharper and added more contrast and glowing edges. This photo could have been better if I had focused more on the sponge.

Patrick C - Pumpkins

The title of the image is called Pumpkins as its a picture of pumpkins.  It was taken in my backyard in September 2022.  It was taken with a Nikon D40X.  I edited it to be brighter and changed the contrast to make the colors show more.  I don’t know how it could be better other than removing the hummingbird feeder in the background.

Lana Q- Citrus

The title of this image is “Citrus”. I took this picture in my room in early November. I created a background with brown packing paper and a ring light. This picture was actually taken with my Iphone actually. I edited this photo with saturation and contrast.ni wish this photo were slightly more focused.

Diana P - Lights

The title of this image is “Lights.” This picture was taken in my room on September. I took this picture with a Canon Powershot SX520. I didn’t edit this picture because I liked how it came out without editing. I think it could be better if it had more detail to it but other than that I think it’s pretty good.

Ryan G- Twix and Copper

This is a picture of my dog and my sister's dog. They were just chilling and I thought it looked cool. I really like how their colors look together along with the gray and blue.

Maddox D- Spiderman

The title is Spiderman. It was taken in my house. It was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T6i. I removed the stand the figure was on to make it seem like it was moving in mid air. I could’ve focused the image better so the hand was not so blurry

Muriithi M - Circle Rectangle

No Statement Provided

Wendy S- Muse

The title of my image is Muse I took this photo in the backroom. It was taken with the Canon camera in class. I edited it by cropping it and blurring some of the background to make the flute pop out more. I could’ve been better but I could've removed the numbers that are seen on the sheet music but those numbers do have a meaning.

Helen S- The Cat and The Car

I titled this photo “The Cat and The Car”. I took this during Thanksgiving break in Jacksonville Florida. I took this photo on my Sony A6500 with a portrait lens. I started off editing out a car tag that was in the window, and used the burn tool over the whole image to make it a bit more darker. I think that if there weren't cat hair all over the car, the image would look better.

Kamron Y - Lego 911

The title of this image is lego 911. This was taken for the about me project at my house. It was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T6. To edit I tried to bring out the brown interior and also bring out the details in the lego bricks because I think it adds a nice effect to how each piece goes together to make a nice car. I feel like it could be better by having a more interesting background like having more cars back there and I even could have put it on the road. This specific model is a 1976 911 Turbo.

Emma B- Lazy Night

I took this photograph on October 2, 2022 in my bedroom. I took this image with my iPhone 11 by taping it onto my ceiling and using a timer. How I edited this image was first cropping it to focus more on me, then adding in a blue light into the front of the image using the app Picsart and adjusting it to look like a TV was on and the light was shining in front of me like I was watching it. After that I adjusted the saturation, hue, contrast, temperature, highlights, black points, and shadows. I wish the quality was a lot better and my ceiling was higher so you could see more of the headboard. I did make my upstair neibors mad while taking this because my headboard makes a lot of noise when getting on the bed and I had to take a lot of photographs to get the right one so I was jumping on and off the bed and they started to stomp on the floor to make me shut up.

Cooper G - 4 Rings

This is a picture I took of my Audi A4 in November over Thanksgiving break. I edited this photo by first turning down the highlights and brightness while turning up the contrast I also turned up the range and black poiint slightly. Doing so turned what would have been a bland sky into a vibrant sky contrasting with both the leaves and the car. I think it could have been better by simply taking a better photo.

Amber H- Cotton Candy

This image is titled Cotton Candy because of the colors of the sky. This photo was taken at the beginning of December 2022 at Hoover High. It was taken with my Iphone 12 and it is unedited. I like this picture because i was preparing for a theatre competition and it was just a good time to see a pretty sky. I think this picture could be better if the light poles weren’t in the way.

Nathan E- The Vibe

This photo is called The Vibe because the photo just feels like Christmas time. I took this image in my bedroom a few weeks before Christmas. I took this photo with my iphone because i didn't have my camera with me. After I took this photo I upped the color and I made the back point darker. I feel like I should've focused on one part of this photo instead of having all of it blurred.

Ashton T - Nature Collage

The title of this image is “Nature Collage”. This is a collage of several photos I took over the year 2022, most images taken at my house while others were taken at a friend’s lake house. These images were mostly taken with my iPhone; only one was taken with my camera. I edited the image a lot by layering the separate photos and rotating them different ways and adjusting the colors slightly. I made the background a bright, warm orange to contrast with the greens and also match the mushroom colors slightly. I also added dots and squares around some photos to add pattern and more interest. I think I did well with making the photos work together, but I kind of wish I edited the images a little more and separated them out so the viewer could see more details in each tiny photo. This was also one of my first times making a collage, so I definitely think I could use more practice but overall I love how the colors turned out.

Ayda M- Alabama Theater

I took this picture last Christmas at the Alabama theater withCanon Rebel T7i.  I straightened the photo and increased the contrast, saturation, and warmth  I think if I had taken the picture from an angle where the floor looked less crooked I would like it more.

Nikolaus H- In My Room on Christmas Eve

The image I chose was taken in my room on Christmas Eve with my iphone SE. I edited this image by increasing the saturation a little and darkening it to give it a more appealing look. This photo could’ve been better if I chose the items in the image better and made it a little less busy.

Jade S- Vulcan

This is a picture of the Vulcan that I took while walking to an event that was being held there. I turned the brightness and the exposure up just a little and I brought the contrast down a bit. I brought the vibrance up to a high level since the original picture looked really dull. I changed the hue to a deeper blue color so the sky would lookmless gloomy. In my opinion it would look better if I was farther away from it but I think it’s a good picture.

Bray M- Reflect

The name of this photo is Reflect,  I chose the name because of how the candle light reflects off the ceiling of the room.  This was taken in my living room around christmas time, I do not remember the exact date but it's was during the school year.  I took this photo with my old phone that I had in 7th grade.  I edited it by lowering brightness and taking away the colors I think the focas is a bit off and I think if I adjusted that it could be better.

Milan S - Sahara's Land

This image was taken inside of my mom’s room during thanksgiving break. It was taken on my phone. I sharpened the image some so it wouldn’t be as blurry. Then I also took out a blanket on the ground with the retouch tool, then cropped the image some. I think it could be better if the photo was less blurry around her eyes and more focused.

Matthew H- Behind the Scenes

This image is titled “Behind the Scenes” and was taken for the Still Life assignment this past semester. This was taken in on the floor of my bedroom with my Canon Mark II camera. I edited the picture by increasing the saturation of it and cropping the image to create a better aspect ratio. My intention with the picture was to show all the factors that go into success in athletics. I showed my inhaler, water bottle, bands, running shoes and spikes, foam roller, energy gel, and jersey to convey that there’s more than just the medals you see in the center of the image. I think this could be a lot better if I had positioned the objects in a way that made them seem more important, and if I had a more interesting environment instead of just floor and wall.

Anna Gale H- The Ceiling

The title of this image is “The Ceiling.” I took this picture on my trip to Europe last Summer in the Vatican. I took this with my phone because we couldn't carry our cameras around. To edit this picture I brightened some of the colors and cropped out the walls of the building. I think this image would be better if it showed the whole ceiling, but it was too big.

Emily K - Spiderweb

This image is tilted Spiderweb and it was taken on September 24, 2022 at my lake house with my Canon t7. For editing, I brightened it up a bit and cropped the edges in. The only thing I would do to make it better is if I adjusted my camera settings to make it less blurry and more in-focus. I like this picture because of how much the web stands out on the nightime background. I also like all the imperfections of the web because it shows how nature isn’t perfect.

Steven L - Neon Sound

This image is called Neon Sound, and it was taken on October 29, 2022. It is a picture of my guitar with a “how to play a guitar” book and it was taken in my room at home. I edited this picture by increasing the colors of the image and the shadows of it a little bit. I also put this neon filter using photoshop to make it look more interesting. Not my best, but a good pic in my opinion.

Maci J- Record Player

The title of this image is Record Player. I took this in the studio when we were doing the still life assignment. I'm pretty sure I used the camera already in the studio for this photo. I edited this photo by making menial changes in brightness and lowering the highlights. It would probably be better if the record player was more focused. If I could go back in time I wuld probably use a different backdrop or different colored lighting.

Taylor O- At The Beach

I took this September 12,2022 this was taken at the beach. I took this with my phone. I edited it on the pictures app. I Could have improved the lightness in it also in the back.

Dori H - Valuable Collection

This is called Vaulable Collection. This picture it’s just an assortment of jewelry that I wear and like. I really like jewelry and I really want to show that in this picture. It was taken in my room during Thanksgiving break, I had a hard time getting the camera to focus since it was such a close-up shot but luckily I ended up getting it to work. I only edited it a bit to make the colors more enhanced. Other than that I didn’t really have to do much to the image since I already like the way it is.
Overall, I think jewelry is a great way for someone to express themselves and I’m glad this picture turned out the way I wanted it to.

Benji H - Ice Crystals

This was taken over in Arkansas over Christmas break on the outside of our car’s window. This photo was taken with my phone so I was impressed with the quality of it not being a fancy camera. I just edited it in photos and applied a filter to bring out the cooler tones. I do wish that the crystals were a little clearer because I think that would’ve enhanced the overall product. Overall, I think this was a rare opportunity to get up close to actual ice and snow.

Lana Q- Roses

The title of this image is Roses. I actually took this photo in the car in early October, the sun was shining nicely on these roses my boyfriend got me, so I decided to photograph them. I took this photo with my Canon EOS T3 Digital camera and it is one of my favorites. I changed the brilliance and highlights a little but mostly left the photo as it was. I really like how bright and dark this picture is so I suppose I would not change much about it.

Amelia G- Covet

The title of this image is Covet. I took this at a Covet show on December 9th at Zedico (downtown Birmingham). I took this photo with my IPhone 13. I lowered the brightness, added contrast, added highlights, and added saturation. I think it would be so much better if I had taken it on a better camera. The IPhone auto edits the photos that are taken and it makes them look kinda bad. It kinda looks crunchy. The bands that played that night were awesome. It was a mix of math rock and midwest emo and it was so cool.

Anthony SM- Action Figure

I shot this picture with my Sony a6000 camera while positioning the action figures up close. I adjusted the brightness to 0.33, the intensity to 0.12, and the color pink to 0.50. I like how the picture turned out overall, let me know what you think I should improve on.
