Gabi B - Slopes

This picture is titled “slopes”. I took this picture last month in West Virginia when I went Skiing. I took this with my friend’s iPhone 6s. I edited this picture by increasing the contrast and brightness, I also cropped it. I think this picture could be better if It was a bit warmer and had a bit more sunlight and also if it was sharper. I like how you can see all the fog in between the trees and how far back the trees go.

Matthew R - Hulkador

This image is titled “Hulkador” because that’s what the owner named the car (It’s a Lamborghini Aventador). I took it last year in Atlanta on a parking deck for a photoshoot. I took it with a Canon T3i and a 50mm Lens. I edited it in lightroom, darkening the left, and adding some warmth, tint, and exposure to the right side of the image. I warmed the car a bit, and also sharpened it. It could’ve been better If I’d done a cleaner job editing it, and also had a better lens to shoot with, but overall I think it’s a cool photo.

Tanner R- Converse

The title of my image is converse. I took this for an assignment in my room. The camera I took it with is a nikon 3500. It could be better if I could make the converse a little brighter although I really like this image because the light and dark spot make the image unique.

Zack C- Rosa Blüten

I called this shot Rosa Blüten because I’m currently learning German (at least trying to). This shot is of the flowers outside my Mom’s house, of some flowers. In reality, these flowers are red and orange, but through some shady editing, they have become pink. By boosting reds and lowering greens in both Color Balance and Channel Mixer, and as a final touch, I slid the pink slider in Selective Color up two-thirds of the way. Then I messed a bit with Contrast to get it to where it is now. Overall, I like this shot, though its problems are as numerous as its wins. For example, the foreground really pops with pink and green, a great set of complementary colors, but the blue background sucks out a lot of the complementation. Also, while the foreground is sharp and contrast, which give a very strong image when paired with such complementary colors, once again the background is not up to par: out of focus and very blurry (which doesn’t mesh well with my heavy editing). But still, its good, and like always, give me some feedback please. I need it to validate my existence. ;)

Ryan F- ENO Opens Worlds

The title of this image is “ENO Opens Worlds.” It was taken at Moss Rock Preserve on June 13th, 2015. It was taken with my phone, a Samsung Galaxy S4. I edited this picture to be a composite by adding another picture I took in the woods of a sunset as a layer and erasing everything of that layer below the line of the Eno straps. I also changed the levels, brightness and contrast, hue and saturation, and then I ended up adding a filter to top it of. It could be better if I took more time editing it, and if I had a better picture to place above the Eno for a composite.

Peyton R- Cookies

I took this photo in my kitchen about 4 weeks ago. I took it with my Cannon Rebel. The only editing I did to this photo, was taking away a distraction that was in the background. I feel this photo could be better if the reflection of the cookies showed up better. I think being able to really see the reflection would be cool.

CJ G - Coke

The title of this image is ‘Coke’ because that is what the image is focused on. I took this on a shelf in my room and I edited it by making it a composite with 3 other images. I messed around with colors and added masks as well. It could be better if the bottom left corner had color in it instead of blackness but over all I like this picture.

Ryan M-Jango's Revenge

The title of my selected image is “Jango’s Revenge.” I took the photo on January 18th, 2016, in my bedroom with my EOS 1200D digital camera. I edited the photo by duplicating the photo in Photoshop and applying a motion blur filter to it to create the hazy effect. I also adjusted the exposure to better illuminate Jango Fett’s helmet. The photo could be better is the camera had focused in on the arm of Jango that is pointing a blaster at Mace Windu because it appears to be a bit hazy like Mace Windu and unlike the rest of Jango Fett. This photo is a narrative still life photo featuring two of my Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones action figures: Mace Windu and Jango Fett. I shot the photo in a way that it is over the shoulder of Mace Windu from the back and the focus is Jango Fett. It is a interesting photo for fans of the Star Wars lore because that could be Boba Fett wearing his father’s armor on a quest to avenge his father’s death at the hands of Jedi Master Mace Windu. It is also interesting for people not familiar with the lore because this in my opinion is a very cool action narrative shot done with just toys.

Drew F- Gold Porsche

This picture was taken over the summer both in Orange beach and Mercedes Dealership. This picture was taken with a Nikon. I edited it by merging two images and putting a black and white layer.

Willie R - Joey

The title of this image is “Joey” , I took this on halloween at a music festival in New Orleans of a rapper named Joey Bada$$, I added exposure to this and played with the colors, it could be better if the photo was just more clear and not taken with an iPhone, they didn’t allow cameras inside the show.

Jacob H- Trash

I named this picture “Trash” because that’s really all it is, but it’s still kinda deep to me. I took it in Kampsville, Illinois with my Nikon D-90. I put an overlay layer to darken some of it, but then brought back some color to bring out some more detail. It could be better if it was more clear, but i like how dark it looks.

Molly B- Kenzie

The title of this image is Kenzie. All of the images were taken earlier in the year for other projects. The  picture of the girl was taken downtown, the blue picture was taken in my kitchen, and the bush was taken in my front yard. The picture of the girl was taken with my real camera but the other two were taken with my phone. I edited it by just blending them together. It could be better if the thing to the left wasn’t there.

Tajane C- Saxophone

The title of this image is Saxophone, it was taken back in the studio on January 25, 2016. I edited it through photoshop and iPhoto. I don’t feel that this photo could have been better and I edited it to the best of my ability. I really like this photo because it really grasps the beauty of the saxophone and the details in the engravings and the music.

Mychael O- Teardrop

I took this photo a few days ago with my Nikon D360. I edited it by lightening up some of the dark shadows and adding a little bit of contrast. Also, I darkened the image a little bit to make the mood a little bit darker.

Isaac N- Pretty When I Cry

This picture was taken in the studio a few days ago, and its of my friend Camille, and she wanted to make herself cry so she could get a good picture so she started playing a sad song and just started crying. I edited the picture by putting a filter over the tear and making it more defined that it already was. I love this picture because of how sharp it is!!!

Wes S - Checkmate

I named this photo Checkmate. I took this photo during the Still Life assignment. I edited this photo by painting out the background and the boxes within the chessboard and hen applying a filter. I think it could be better if i could have lit the pieces in the back better.

Jacob C- Yogisms

I entitled this photo “Yogisms” because the caption is one of my favorite Yogi Berra quotes. This photo was taken about a week ago at my house and I took it with my Nikon. I increased the brightness and the vibrance. I also messed with the levels and curves adjustment in the photo. Then I added the water color filter and the text. I think it could have been better if the top of the photo was more in focus. Other than that I like how the photo turned out.

Emily F- Shoes

I titled this picture “shoes”. It was taken at my house on a mirror. I took the picture with a sony DSC-H300. I edited it in photoshop by painting it different colors and I made the background darker.

Nicole T-Piano Keys Manipulated

This picture is a composite and it is called Piano Keys. The keyboard was taken a few weeks ago at my house, the ocean with the sunset was taken at Santa Monica Beach during winter break. and the lights are taken at the Griffith Observatory in LA also during winter break. They were all taken with a Canon Powershot Sx 150 IS. I edited it by adding the lights and sunset to the keyboard and using different layers with different blending modes. I could be better if I took more time to edit it.

Briggs A- One Ring

This picture is titled “One Ring”. It is based off of “The Lord of The Rings”. The actual ring was a gift from my dad and is a replica made of tungsten. This image was taken in the studio last week for the still life assignment. I edited this image by creating a vignette with the burn tool and I made the ring seem to glow by using the dodge tool. I also cleaned the image by removing the blemishes in the background. Overall I don’t think that I could have made this image better.

Alex Z - A Musician's View

This is a photo of my Horn, as I am a musician in band. I am asked a lot about what I see in music, and I see in a music point of view. I feel like music relates to a person’s inner self and tells a lot about the person. I chose this one as my best, because the horn in the photo is my baby. I used my phone’s light and covers (With different lights) to make many different colors in the photo. Overall, I loved doing this assignment because I got to take photos of still things, and I got to see what I really love, and that is music. Music is artistic, and for that I chose this as my best. I feel like the only way this could be better is if I did not bump into the tripod because that is why it is just a LITTLE blurry (If you look at the verse numbers); however, I am overly proud about my creation and really enjoyed putting this piece together.

Caroline N- Flower

The title of my picture is Flower. This picture was taken in the studio with the a Pentax K-5 camera. To edit this picture I darkened around the subject and lightened the subject I also sharpened the entire image. This picture could be better if I had used better lightning.

Blakely w- Rosie

I titled this picture Rosie because that is my dogs name. I took this in the fall on our front porch. I love how she isn’t looking at the camera and all of the different colors and shades. I added contest and exposure to this picture.

AaniaC- Gears

I titled this image Gears. I took this during the still life assignment. I didn’t do much editing to it. I did brighten it  up and sharpen it a little bit, other that that I kept everything very simple/ I think it could be better if I had explored a little bit with this image and maybe cropped out some of the top.

Ashley W- Winter Wonderland

This image is a composite shot of four images I took, all In different places. The main image of the boy was taken in my backyard at night with a couple of flashlights as the light source. The Pic in the middle is a super heavily edited image of the ocean and the border surrounding it a picture I took of my christmas tree and then I added a top image of some christmas lights I had laying around last fall. I changed the Levels and exposure of each pic a bit individually and then I added some stuff to the picture as a whole. Overall I really like this picture cause I think it looks cool and I like how all the different images fit together well.

Annemarie K- Shoes

This picture is called shoes. It was taken last week for the still life assignment. It was taken with my Samsung WB1100F. I edited it by putting picture over it of rocks and then changed the blending mode. I then put the glowing edges filter on it. It could be better if there was a better background but I like how it turned out.

Abby U- In the Clouds

This picture is called In the Clouds. I took this picture when I was leaving New York City.
I edited this picture using saturation, brightness, and sharpness. This picture could be better if it was cropped differently.

Katie R- In Montgomery

This was taken in downtown Montgomery about a month ago. This picture was taken with an iPhone 6. I darkened the picture so the colors would stand out more and increased the saturation.
This picture could be better if there was more detail in the shadow area.

Dayne M- Nikon

The title of the image is “Nikon” and it was taken in my house around two weeks ago. It was taken with my Nikon D5500 and I edited the image by adding a layer, setting it to overlay and then darkening the area around the lens. It could be better if the some of the colors were more interesting. Overall, I like the picture and the simplicity of it.

Alena D- Wonderland

I titled this ‘Wonderland” because I thought it fit with this image. This photo was one I took for the composite assignment. All the images I took was from my Canon Rebel T5, I have green leaves, a flower and the band with the hand photo. I edited this photo in photoshop. I added the difference layer and soft light to have a nice touch to the image in Photoshop. I did this photo because I literally tried out different images with different effects to see what I could get out of the picture. I personally like this because it has different ways viewers can see and I honestly think it has a good but creative vision. I think its a very cool photo but people have different opinions.

Daniel M-"Dying"

I call this photo “Dying” because the tree is dying and the buildings are old and grown over. I took this photo in Greenville, AL a few months ago. I took this photo with my Nikon D40.
To edit this photo I turned the exposure up a little. To make this photo better I think I should have in zoomed a little to get less of the upper branches in the photo. This is probably one of my favorite photos i have taken this year.

Caitlin G- Bottles

The title of this picture is ‘Bottles’. It was taken in the studio about 2 weeks ago. It was taken with Pentax K-5. I edited it with adding layers and masks making certain areas lighter and darker. I also added saturation and contrast. Iy=ts could be better if it was more focused.

Dejon F- Eletric Sound

The title of my image is called “Electric Sound”. It was taken at my home on January 21st. I took this with my Canon PowerShot SX130 IS. I edited this image by adjusting the curve because before it was really whited out by the light. It could be better if there wasn’t so much light in the middle of the image.

Jacob H- Composite

The title of this picture is composite because it is from the composite assignment. All 3 layers of this photo were taken in Kampsville, Illinois a couple months ago. They were taken with my Nikon D90. I layered them and used different filters and stuff an colored in the handle to contrast with the red background. It could be a little neater, but other than that love it.

Ryan M- The Flower Pot

The title of my selected image is “The Flower Pot.” I took the picture on the back deck of my home on September 20th, 2015. I took the photo with my EOS 1200D digital camera. I edited the photo by cropping the image as well as adjusting the saturation, contrast, sharpness, and definition. The photo could be better in my opinion if the green trees that are blurred in the background were not there due to how they somewhat detract from the green of the plant in the flower pot. Some additional information is that one can notice the suspended brown leaf to the right of the pot, which I believe is being held in the air by a spider web. I thought that was really cool and do not think I noticed it until after I took the picture.

Samuel C - The Joker

This was taken at the school’s halloween dance. It was taken with my iPhone 6. I used the healing tool so that I can fix up blotches on his face and makeup that started to runoff on his jacket and shirt. It could of been better if it was a full body shot as the rest of the costume was good as well.  I wish that I would have asked him to do his joker laugh, would have looked a lot cooler

Alex Z - Primal Instincts

The name of this photo is Primal Instincts. This is a composite photo of three photos, my cat, the great outdoors, and ducks. These photos were taken last semester. It was taken with a CANON camera. I edited the photo in photoshop and iPhoto. In iPhoto I added a vignette and matte to the photo of the cat, and made sure that it is full, and not faded at all using Photoshop. Using Photoshop, I used the duck photos and the forest photos to fade into the layer of the cat. It could be better if the Cat wasn’t faded out as much, but sadly that is the best I could do. I chose to do this photo because I wanted to see things at my cats point of view. My cat loves the outdoors, and he loves to hunt, sometimes he shows up with a gift (Although we don’t eat it because it’s normally squirrels). I just chose to make a composite photo all about him.

Bradley C- White Cloud

This Picture was taken over the summer walking around with Eric. It was taken by my Nikon D7000, I had a high exposure to make the cloud stand out more so no editing was needed. Overall thins a good picture I like it.

Grant S- Nicarde

The title of this photo is Nicarde. I titled it this because it is my brother’s name. I tooth photo of my brother over Christmas Break on the bottom floor of an apartment complex. Then I cropped him out and put him in front of the Birmingham skyline. I took it with my Nikon L840. I auto toned the picture then lessened the exposure. It could be better if I maybe blurred out the background to focus it more on my brother but I like how it came out.

Josh C- Copter

It was taken on my Cannon powershot ELPH on a vacation we went on a few months ago. I did not add any edits. the picture would of been improved if I had a tripod.

Areez L- Red Roses

The name of this photo is red roses. I took this picture at my house for the pick a color assignment. This was taken with my phone, and I edited it by adding a background copy and using the brush tool to paint over the table. I later added a mask and increased the vibrance color in order to bring out the red from the roses and the plate. I think I could have taken the picture at a different angle to make it look better.

Henry S - Banners

I titled this picture “Banners”. It was taken on December 29, 2015 at the airport when I went to pick someone up. It was taken with a Nikon D3200. I didn’t edit this pic. It could be better from a different shot and I’m open to opinions or ideas.

Sydney G- Rachel

I named this picture Rachel and I edited this by turning the brightness up and this could have been better if I edited it a little better. I took this at old baker farm during october for the portrait assignment.

RereH- Mysteries

My photo is called mysteries. I took this picture with my Fujifilm FinePix S8600I chose this picture because it reminds me of a tropical forest. I blurred out the background to make the color of the tree’s pop. i also darkened the orange on the tree and turned the brightness up.

Seth W-Atmore, Alabama

The title of my selected image is Atmore, Alabama.  It was taken over Thanksgiving break on our way home from my Grandparent house in walnut Hill, Florida.  It was taken with my canon EOS Rebel T5.  I think it could be better if the power line and traffic light were not in the way.

Jonathan T. - Buffalo Army Wings

The title of this image is “Buffalo Army Wings”. It was taken several months ago near Fort Benning, Georgia while my brother was on leave to spend time with his family. His friend was there, too, at the time because his family wasn’t able to make it. It was taken with an iPhone. I edited it by increasing brightness a little and using the ‘cutout’ filter. It could be better if my brother’s Army friend wasn’t moving his hand, creating blur, or if the shutter speed were quicker. The levels of the cutout filter could also be a bit better if I manually edited some parts, but I didn’t have much time to spend on this photo.

Megan S- Lake

I took this picture a few months ago at Smith Lake with my Nikon camera. I edited it by turning up the saturation and cropping it a little. My favorite thing about it is the sun glare, this photo could be better if I hadn’t zoomed in so much.

Eric H- "Da Beach"

This was taken last Christmas break in Destin, Florida. I took this on my iPhone. I edited it by adding shadows and contrast. It could be better if it were more focussed.

Ifeanyi M- Great Green Grapes

This photo is titled: “Great Green Grapes”. It was taken at my house a few months ago with my iPhone 5s. I turned up the exposure, definition, highlights, and sharpness, and also up the contrast, shadows, and saturation a bit. It could have been better if I applied the rule of thirds to this picture instead of venturing the grapes.
