Kevin T- Death Stare

The title of the selected image is “Death Stare”. I named it this because it was just funny how the baby was looking at my brother. This was taken in my brothers house on the 6th of December. I took this with my brothers camera. I edited this by darkening the background and increasing the focus on the baby staring at my brother. I think it would be better if I could’ve made my brother brighter and more detailed.

Sophia C. - Vintage

This photo is named Vintage and was taken in my backyard for the night and day assignment with my Fuji FinePix XP60 camera. I edited this picture using Nik Collection : Silver Efex Pro. It could be better if the sun wasn’t so bright in the photo, but overall I like this photo.

Jamari j- Start

The tittle is start. It was taken at a track meet at the Birmingham crossplex and it was taken on the 4th of January. It was taken on a iPhone 11. I used contrast to edit it.

Carlos G.- Apollo

The image is called Apollo. It was taken in my friends house, It was taken with my rebel T-6I, I edited  a couple of colors and turned the exposure up. I really enjoy this picture because this type of fish has legs and arms. The are called axelotol, these creatures only come from Mexico.

Trey B. - Gray Day

I took this image in Mentone AL over Thanksgiving break. I really like the way it turned out. It gives off a sad, eerie kind of vibe which reminds one of death. I think it could have been better perhaps if it was a bit more centered and focused. I edited this picture just a bit by lowering the exposure, lowering the contrast just a bit, decreasing the vibrance, and decreasing the color. Overall though, I think the photograph maintains its darkness truly capturing the beauty of a gray day.

Kilee M - Tattoo Parlour

This photo was taken for the About Me Assignment. This was the day I got my septum pierced the second time, taken with my Nikon L820. I really love this photo, the contrast is striking. I love how dark and rainy the background is.

Destiny P.- Unrealistic Nature

I took this at my bus stop on August 22, 2019. Taken with my Sony Camera. I edited by making a duplicate layer and changing the first one to black and white. Then I changed the color of the left on the second layer. I then put a mask on the first layer and started just coloring the left back in and leaving the rest of the image black and white. I feel like it would have been better if I took the picture a little further back just for distance purposes.

Jaiya D- Floral Arrangement

The title of this is Floral Arrangment, and it was taken on Thanksgiving of 2019 in Virginia. It was taken on my Canon T7. I edited by using Photoshop and increasing the saturation and also using the filter from the Vintage Nik Collection. It could be better if I did different shots so that I could have variety. I love the I warmed up this picture and made all of the colors pop.

Emma H- Little Puppy

This was taken on my bed at night when she was supposed to be sleeping. I edited it with putting a dark film on it then lighting it around Molly. This could be better with a bit less of my brackets in the photo and more of Molly and her body. Molly likes to chew on things so when we gave her her own blanket to chew on she was more then happy to chew it and destroy it in a week.

Jayla F- Gold

The title of this image is gold . This was taken over thanksgiving break at bumps middle school. This was also taken with my iPhone XR. The way I edited this was In photoshop with a filter . The way I would make this better is by cropping out more of the background

Kenyon S- Silver Arch

I named my image silver arch because the image is of the torii at the front of the Japanese garden in the Birmingham botanical gardens and it was edited in silver Efex 2. The picture was originally taken on November 10th 2019 at around noon. In Silver Efex 2 I used the fine art preset while and got rid of the frame while increasing the contrast in certain areas to add clarity. The picture could have been better if I took it either earlier or later in the day so light couldn’t be as blocked by the trees nearby.

Jerusha K- The Globe

This is “The Globe” I took this picture one morning in December in my house. I edited this picture by adding a filter to make it more warmer and homey. I then decreased the exposer and increased the brilliance to make the countries on the globe more noticeable. I also increased the saturation a little bit for a color pop. This picture came out alright but I would make it better by fixing the glare on the equator..

Kaleb E- Josh

The title of my photo is called josh. Its called josh because thats the guy that I took the photo off. I took it on his iPhone 8 cause my phone died. I edited it through photoshop by brighten by clearing up his skin and enhancing and played with the lighting. I wished I had my rebel t6 so the image could be less blurry.

Elijah B- While on Vacation

I took this picture while on vacation. I was walking around with my family and I noticed the trees In a pattern so we walked over and I looked up and thought it would be a great picture. I took this picture with my phone. -Elijah Briggs

Emilee T- Ella

This is an image of my friend, Ella, that I took about a month ago. It was taken in my driveway with my Cannon camera. I edited this with photoshop and I added a filter and did some touching up around her face and the garage door. I really like this image and I really like the way that the camera is set up to capture the leaves in front of her.

Merit O- Stark

I named this image “Stark” because that is the name of the dog in the photo. I took this picture in the preserve on day when I was hiking with my brother and Stark. At the time I only had my phone on me so I took this picture with my Iphone. I edited this picture by making it more saturated and making the green pop more. I also put a color filter over the picture which made it a little warmer but did not take away from the greens and blues. I feel like it could have been better if I used my camera or I angled it another way.

Eduardo M- Pink Shirt

Title of my picture is pink shirt. It was taken back to August it was taken with my DSH Sony camera I edited using a filter. In my opinion I think it could be better with a nick collection filter but I really liked it the way it came out.Eduardo

Chris A - "Water Fall"

The title of this image is “Water Fall”. It was taken over Thanksgiving break at my friends house. I took this with my Canon Eos Rebel. I edited it by sharpening it up and adding some scratches and dust overlaying the picture. I also added a filter. I could’ve taken a little bit of a better picture but other than that I think its really good.

Anna K- Leaf

I took this photo over Thanksgiving break when my family was visiting the mountains. This is my favorite photo I took. I took this in front of a blue house for a pop of color. I edited it using the nik collection. I also blemished it a little. To make it better I would bring out more detail  in the leaf.

Evelyn C - Lensed Art

This one is called lensed art. I did not draw nor color this all credit of the actual art goes to Advika. This was taken in the Engineering Computer Lab on October 31st. It was taken with my Canon Rebel T5. I edited this photo using one of the Nik filters by adding a lense, darkening the corners, lighting the center, and adding some surface details. I believe this could have been better if the art was focused a bit more towards the front. I like that it’s blurry farther back but the front seems a bit blurry as well. Nevertheless I like how this came out.

Kay P- Lane Park

I call this picture Lane Park. It was taken in Lane Park Birmingham with my iPhone 8 at the time. I edited the image by increasing the brightness and making it a little more sharper. It probably would’ve been a better shot if I took it with my Canon but it wasn’t available for me at the time. I just had to capture this photo though because it’s such a pretty scene.

Colin D - LA Nights

The title of this image is LA nights. It was taken above the shoreline in Los Angeles. I took it with my phone out the plane window. I didn’t edit it besides cropping it and it could’ve been better quality.

jonathan o- fire

This photo is titled fire. The picture was taken over the break at my friends house. I took it with my iPhone 8 plus. The only things I did to the picture was change the tone. Color, and contrast.

Cam M - Fence

The title of this image is Fence. It was taken in my friends backyard in Bessemer, Alabama. This Photo was taken with a Canon Rebel T6. I edited it by adding a little bit of saturation and some contrast. I think it could be better if the photo was a little bit more lighter.

Ethan N - Tyler

This photo was taken first semester here at hoover. It was taken with my Nikon camera. I edited the brightness to make it pop and the color. It could be better if the curtains weren’t wrinkled.

Abdul M- Backyard flower

I took this picture a while Ago it was taken in my backyard. It was taken with my camera it was a cannon. I edited this picture by putting in more color and fixing little things. It could be better if I did a little more editing.

Jack J. - Chromophobia

“Chromophobia” was taken on November 25th in Birmingham near Sloss Furnace. It was taken with my Canon REBEL T3 and I edited it by putting it through the Nik Collection and adjusting the black and white of the image. I think the image could be better if she was more aligned with the lines of the poles and railing. Chromophobia is the persistent and irrational fear of colors.

Samuel M - Backyard Forest

This is Backyard Forest. I used the Silver Efex Nik filiter. Change it to a black and white filter, added border came out good. I feel like the black and white feel like you in a different world that why I mess with it. Somebody might want the color wild be nice with it but I think it turned out great.

Sade' W- Untitled

This picture was taken with my iphone 8. I took it in my front yard. I edited this picture by using a filter in the nik collection. I really like this picture because of the vintage vibe it gives off. It almost looks like the clouds are bleeding through the image. The only thing I would of changed about this image is to lessen the amount of grain on the image.

Kendall O-Evening Sky

The title of this image is “Evening Sky” and was taken on my back porch on a sunset afternoon. This photo was taken with a Nikon Coolpix L820. I edited this photo by turning the brightness down just a bit and increasing the black point just a bit and also adjusting the saturation. It could be better if there was more time to edit.

Ethan F - Golf Light

This image is called Golf Light.  I took it at a mini golf course in Florida.  I turned up the contrast to bring out the light more.  This image was captured with my Kodak and I chose it because of the way that the light reflects off the ball.

Sasha C- Hoover Sunrise

This picture was  taken at hoover high school , it was take in the morning before JROTC Drill practice , the way I died is bringing the brightness down, the way it could be better if I took it little bit later in the morning .

Nema H- Lotus Hala

The title of this photo is Lotus Hala. It was taken on November 28, 2019 in the dining room by the window to lighten it up. This image was taken with my Canon camera and I like the way it turned with this orange sunflower. The colors of the Hala and the sunflower correspond each other which made me glad with the after results. When editing this picture, I used the tools in Photoshop. Like brightness and contrast to make the colors warmer and more brought out, used color balance to match the colors together to look put together, and lastly used the vibrance tool to brighten up the colors a little bit. Also, cropped some parts of the image. There is nothing I could do better about this picture because I like everything about it and the way it looks. Overall, I am glad about the way I took this image.

Katie G- Sunset

This is an image of a sunset I took at Pensacola Beach over Thanksgiving Break. This photo is called Sunset. I took it with my Canon camera. I edited it with the Nik Collection. It could be better if it were brighter and the moon was not blurry. I really like the image and how it turned out.

Ramzi M- Abdul

I took this picture during the environmental assignment. It was taken with one of Mr. Rigsby’s cameras. The subject in this photo is Abdul.

Jonathan S. - Flower

The title of this photo is Flower. I took this picture with a Canon in my backyard during the daytime. I edited this picture by lowering the color a little and the adding a blur around the flower so all of the focus is on the flower.

Julien F- Purple

I call this picture Purple because I edited my sister eye to go from green to purple. What inspired me to edit the photo this way was remembering how my sister would tell us her eyes where purple instead of green. I took the picture with my camera and the original photo was used for a previous assignment. To get the purple color changed the hue of the eye. I didn’t make any other changes to the photo and I’m really proud on how the photo came out.

Mariana G- Old Style

This picture was taken in Helena on September 24, 2019. I took this picture with an iPhone XS. I edited it by retouching some little details and with the Silver Efex Pro 2 filter from the Nik Collection. I used this filter because I wanted the picture to look a lot older than it is. To make the picture better, I would have liked to fix the balance.

Mitchell C - Madelyn

This image is called Madelyn, named after the model. It was taken in Peyton, Colorado which is where I am from and it was taken on November 7. I took this image with my 6d Canon camera body with a 85mm 1.8. I converted this image to a black and white to add depth and meaning and create a more impactful piece. Increased the contrast and made the blacks darker and the whites brighter. I wish the houses in the background were not there but unfortunately, when I looked at my location, it seemed to be the least distracting background, and I really like the way I used my light to my advantage. This is a family friend and I really enjoyed the opportunity to have a photoshoot with her, especially considering that she lives so far away!

Destiny P.-Madi

Taken on November 4, 2019 at school for the portrait assignment. I took it with my Sony camera. I adjusted the light levels. I changed her eye color by just making the color a little brighter and edited the hue/saturation. I also added vibrance to her cheeks. I honestly think I couldn’t have made it better.

Cameron Y - Lights Out

This photo is called Lights Out.  It is taken of a streetlight outside of my house in the middle of the day.  I took this with my Nikon D50 on the Sunday before the project was due.  I edited the cast, contrast, brightness and shadows of it.  I am very very happy with how it turned out and I love the worm’s eye view aspect of the photo.  I don’t think I could’ve done much better in it.

Taha M- High in the sky

The title of this photo is high in the sky. I took it last weekend on my way back from Dubai. I edited it by increasing the sharpness, contrast, and the warm filter. I also decreased the lowered the exposure and the brilliance. It could be better if I enhanced the photo.

Jiya P- Flower

Title of my picture is flower. I took this picture in front of Tutoring Center. Iy was evening time when I took this picture. It was taken from my camera, Canon Rebel EOS T7. I did not edit this picture it just natural.

Bryson S - Cool Rails

I took this image with a zoom lens Canon DSLR by train tracks near my house. The image itself wasn’t anything special, but I used it as an opportunity to work on editing with color. I put a color filter and a channel mixer with a slanted gradient on the image to get the desired effect. I’m a fan of contrast, so the areas where pure color hit the monochromatic rocks hit the colorful trees looked cool to me.

Caleb S - Posed Cat

In this photo, I have my cat posing for the camera. She naturally has beautiful streaks of black across her golden fur. I increased the saturation to really highlight the gold, as well as bring out some light in her eyes. I increased the definition to make the whiskers and smaller features more crisp. The cat had some trouble staying still, so if I had increased the shutter speed, this picture would be more in focus. I took this with my Nikon D3400.

Antonio K- Details

I really like this photo I took. The angle was perfect and the lighting showed some of the small details on the shoe. There wasn’t much shadowing. I feel like this picture could easily be an advertisement for the shoe. Overall I Love it.

Diana H- Sunset

Title of my picture is Sunset. I took this picture in the middle of the road at a red light. The time was around 4 or 5. It was taken in my iPhone camera. I increase the amount of the light. I really love the way this picture turned out:)

Kaitlyn R- Old Times

The title of the image is called Old Times. It was taken by a window, sometime around August 2019. It was taken with a Canon camera. I did a lot of editing to the image, the thing that I used for most of the image was the Nik Collection (Analog Efex). The way it could be better is if I made the image a little more bright.

Clay K- Untitled

This picture has no name. I took the photo on my back porch. I edited it by using the correction tool and also sharpening the image. The picture was taken when we were working on the day night project.

Alex P. Bull Horns

The title of this image is dark tusks. The picture was taken on September 5th, 2019 at calera highschool. The picture was taken with a NIKON D3200. The picture was edited with the Nic collection using Color Efex Pro 4. The picture could be better if I would have taken a picture of the entire bull skull instead of focusing on the rope wrapped around the bull tusks.
