Sasha F- One Lit Candle is better than a Cursing Darkness

This picture is called One Lit Candle is better than a Cursing Darkness. The Picture was taken on November 27 in Nashville, TN. I took it with my Iphone 11. I didn’t edit it because it says so much especially what’s going on with our country today. I could have made it better by getting the dark spots off the road and make it a little brighter.

Mary B- Surrounded by Corn

I titled this photo “Surrounded by Corn”. This is a photo of my brother in a corn maze at the pumpkin patch this fall. I took this photo with my Canon camera. I edited this photo by messing with the colors and turning down the brightness. I think this photo could be better if I cropped the image.

Joe K- Security Camera

This photo I like to call “Security Camera”. I took it downtown and wanted to make it very grainy and similar quality to that of those security cameras. I took it during the night, because I wanted it to seem very ambient and scary because of the angle and the way the dude was standing under the light, making him seem ominous.  I took it with my canon and really enjoyed this photo. I edited the photo by making it darker, but also messing with the RGB curve to make it pop better, since the photo was so dark, but it also helped make the photo more grainy adding to the aesthetic. I think it would have been better to maybe increase the sharpness of the photo. I just love how ominous the photo is, especially with the dude just standing there in the dark.

Ila H - Moon Child

This image is called Moon Child. It is a picture of a makeup palette with a holographic cover. I took this on my iPhone XS. I had my LED lights turned on in the background to have purple lighting and I shined a flashlight on the palette to get the holographic casing to reflect. I edited it by increasing the saturation and blurring the carpet in the background. I think this image could have been better if I used a black background instead of carpet, but I love the lighting I used.

ANTHONY R- 7 PM

The title of this photo is “7 PM”. I took it in downtown bham around 7pm with some of the homies. It was taken with a canon camera with a tripod. Me and my friend used an editing software on iphone to change some of the qualities in the photo to make it look more appealing to the eye. I don’t think there could have been anything done to make the picture better as it was a very good shot in my opinion, one of my favorites.

Ella K- Roses

The title of this picture is “Roses”.  I took it in my backyard in April of 2020. It was taken with my iPhone 7. I edited it by applying the Dramatic filter to the picture. It could be better if I increased the vibrance and contrast of the picture.

Logan W- Red

I call this image Red because of how I edited it. I took this photo around noon at vestavia hills baptist church with a canon 20D. I set it so that the shutter speed was really high. I then increased the reds in the image while decreasing the rest of the rest of the colors. I also created a layer over the shoes and erased the red. I then edited the brightness and the curves so that they could be as white as possible. I did this so that they would pop.

Ella F- Emilee

The title of this image is “Emilee”. This is a photo of my friend Emilee at the parking lot of the Hoover lacrosse fields. It was taken in November of 2020 an hour or so before sunset. I took this picture with my canon 60D camera. I edited this image by cropping out some of the parking lot around her and turning the brightness up slightly. I also turned the saturation up slightly to make the image less dull and more colorful. This image could have been better if I had taken it with a nicer background and if it was a little bit clearer.

Luke F-Owl

This photo was taken at my Grandparents on 11/4/20. It was taken with a Nikon D60. This photo was edited by lowering the brightness and increasing the contrast.I feel like the image could be better if the shelf wasn't in the background.

Myke E- Pink Bloom

I call this photo “Pink Bloom”. This photo was taken right outside the Hoover Cafeteria on october 27, 2020. This was taken as I was walking by with my iPhone 11 and I had to get the shot. I edited this by cutting out the flower in photoshop and adding a black and white shadow background. After playing around i decided to bring down the opacity in the background, giving the background a faded green appearance. I also used a blue color effect on the flower. I dont think I can make this photo better than it actually is.

Erik S- The Pillars

The title of the image I selected is “The Pillars'', as the photo that I took was of wooden pillars at Destin, Florida. I took this photo in June of 2020 and I took it with my Google Pixel XL at dusk. The original photo had people and hammocks around the pillars, so I had used the “Spot Healing Brush Tool” and the “Clone Stamp” tool to edit the people and hammocks out of the photo. This photo could’ve been better if I had taken it with my digital camera, where I would’ve had more adjustable settling to make the photo look less noisy.

REGAN F- Fall

The title of the image chosen is Fall. I took this about a month ago in Old Town Helena over by the park. I took this picture with my Canon camera and decided to edit it with light and saturation enhancement as well as some tinting to the photo. Overall this is one of my favorite images I have shot, although, I do wish it was slightly clearer. Either way I am happy with the way this picture came out.

Abigail P- Winter Nights

This picture is called Winter Nights. I took this picture with my iPhone when I was going to eat dinner in Wilkesboro, North Carolina in December. When I edited my picture, I increased the exposure and decreased the brilliance to bring focus to the light and colors of the flames. I also decreased the saturation so the picture would appear darker giving the picture a cold and dark feel. I wanted the picture to have a feel of a cold winter night sitting by the fire. When I was taking the picture I wish I would have focused the picture more so it did not seem so fuzzy and I wish I would have taken it at a different angle where I did not have anyone in the background.

Anna D- Sunflower Patch

The title of my image is “sunflower patch”. I took it at my house about 2 months ago. I took the picture with my camera and I edited it so it would fade a little from the sides but have a powerful light in the middle so you could see it. The lighting could be better, but I was trying to test the lightning out with my camera. I love sunflowers a lot so I really liked taking this picture and I liked how it came out.

Dalton D - Nature's Walk

The title of this photo is called “Nature’s Walk”. I took it at the Preserve’s main park on October 29th, 2020 with my Canon Powershot SX40. The way I edited this was by taking up the highlights while dramatically decreasing the highlights. I don’t have many complaints, but one would be that the path was clear and not full of leaves. There was a very large storm the night before, so it was very messy. Nevertheless, it’s still a fun photo.

Madison R - Parrot

This photo was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on the first of November. This photo was taken with my Nikon D3400 camera. I edited this photo in photoshop by bringing up the saturation and moving the curve to make the photo brighter. This photo could be better if the background was darker and the parrot was in better focus.

Hannah B- Summer Nights

I call this picture Summer Nights. I took this picture on August 31, 2020 on the band practice field after practice at around 7:30 p.m. I took this picture with my Iphone X. I edited this picture by increasing the brightness of the clouds. I like the way this picture came out so I don’t think I would do anything to change it except I wish I could have taken the picture a little earlier so I could have got more bright clouds instead of dark ones.

MaKena C- Jak

The name of my image is Jak. It was taken in my backyard a few months ago. It was taken with my Canon g9x. This picture has not been edited yet. I could have focused the camera on him more. I really like this picture because it showcases his personality.

Allie S- Christmas Light

The title of the image is Christmas Light. I took this photo December 7th 2020 in my front yard. It was taken with a Canon Rebel XS digital camera. I edited it by bringing up the brilliance and saturation. I also used selective color to mess around with the blue of the bulb. I also brought up the strength and radius of the vignette. I feel like I could have brought the focus a little closer to the bulb and the lightning could have been a little better. This photo is of Christmas string lights on a tree in our front yard.

REDEZEL L- Welti Falls

The title of this image is Welti Falls because I took this in Welti Falls last year, May 2020. I took the photo with my phone, iPhone 11. I didn’t edit anything. But I think it would be better if I edited some parts and took a picture from a different angle.

Emma J - Green Bridge

The title of this image is Green Bridge. It was taken at railroad park in Helena, on June 9, 2020. It was taken with a Canon Powershot ELPH 180. I did not edit it, however, I used the miniature setting that was provided by the camera. This is one of my favorite images that I’ve taken and would not change anything in the photo.

Maddie R- Ballerina

This photo is called Ballerina. This was taken at the Botanical Gardens last month. I took this photo with my Nikon D90. I edited this by taking away some exposure and adding more yellow and green tints. I also added some contrast. This photo could be better if there weren't green bows hanging from the arch.

Bess H -- Beautiful Bloom

The title of this photo is “Beautiful Bloom” and the reason I named it this is because it is the prettiest flower that I have at my house. I took this photo on October 29, 2020 and it was taken outside in my front yard. I took this photo with my Canon 4000D. I increased the exposure, brilliance, and contrast. I also deepened the blackpoint and saturation. I think that could have taken the photo at a better angle.

Mary Ryan M- Take a Look

The title of this image is Take a Look. It was taken on the 1st of January in the afternoon in a neighborhood near my friend’s house. This was taken with my Canon camera and a reflective glass sphere. I did not edit this photo, but if I did I would probably lighten the darker areas that the trees have created. I would have liked to make the photo a little more sharp to enhance it.

Shae M- Jerry

The title of this image is Jerry. This photo got its name when I was taking this picture at the Zoo and decided to name this Chameleon Jerry. This photo was taken at the Birmingham Zoo back in November. I took this photograph with my Nikon D3500. I edited this photo by retouching a few blemishes, but not all of them because I wanted it to look pretty natural. I also brought up the saturation and brilliance to give the photo a brighter look. This photo could be better if it was a bit more focused on the Chameleon, but overall I really like how this photo turned out.

Jacob F- As they han

This photo was taken on 11/23/2020 at 11:16 am. I took this photo in my house while I was sitting in the living room.  I took this photo with my iPhone 8+.  I put a blue tent on this photo and I exposed it to -32 and the last thing I did was I put the shadows to -100. This photo could be better if I had a better angle.  Also, I could have taken it on a real camara.

Dalton D - River Pebbles

The title of this image is “River Pebbles”. I took this picture on November 1st at the Preserve Waterfall. I went up the waterfall to a smaller river to get this photo. I took this photo with my Canon Powershot SX40. I edited it by decreasing the hue and saturation of the blue and teal colors while increasing the hue on the red and green colors. I also took up the brightness and decreased the highlights and brightness. This is the first photo I’ve edited where I’ve changes the hue and saturation on individual colors, and I am pleased with how it turned out. I wish that the photo was less blurry, as it is a little rough on the eyes. I also think that the photo could be improved by making the top puddle blend in and be bluer to fit with the mini waterfall.

MaKena C- Night and Day Bulldog

The name of this photo is Night and Day Bulldog, because I turned this in for an assignment. It was taken in front of my house around 2 weeks ago. It was taken with a Canon Powershot G9x. I lightened the image and then I blurred everything surrounding the bulldog. Editing wise I think I missed a few spots with the blur tool and photography wise I think I could have focused on the bulldog a bit more.

Tabitha S- Moon Sunset

This picture is named Moon sunset. It was taken on Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 at Huntsville, TX.
I took the picture with my phone. I edited it by adjusting the hue and definition.
I could have used a tripod so there would be less noise.

Anthony R- Strawberry Peels

The title of the image is “Strawberry Peels”. I used this photo for my night and day assignment. It was taken at night by my living room. It was taken with my canon camera. I edited it with the spot healing brush, the select tool, and a bit of cropping. It could have been better by removing some unwanted background objects.

Michael E- Breeze By The Bridge

I took this picture in Mobil, AL while I was down in the bay last week. I took this photo last friday at 3:45 that evening on my iPhone 11 because I had to capture the moment. I edited this picture with exposure, brilliance, highlights, shadows, contrast, saturation, vibrance, warmth, tint, and sharpness. I think I could crop the picture one more time to make the picture more focused on the bridge. Overall I really enjoy the view of the picture. I will be taking more when I go back down.

Ragan F- A Falls Night

This photo is titled “A Falls Night”. I took this picture outside my uncle's house one night on the trampoline. I took this picture with my canon camera and decided to edit it with light enhancement and the vivid cool filter. I also added a darker ring around the image to give it some dimension. Overall I am happy with this picture.

Maddie R- Flamengo

The title of my image is Flamengo. This was taken 1 and 1/2  years ago at the Birmingham zoo. We went on a photography class field trip. I edited this with contrast, less exposure, and added color. I really like this photo so I don't think that it could be better. I like this image and it looks very cool to me.

SHAE M- Serene

The name of this image is “Serene”. I chose this name because when I am at this farm with these horses and everything else it has to offer, I really feel at peace and happy. This photo was taken in the middle of March in 2019 on a family friend’s farm in Georgia. I took this photo with my IPhone and I left the photo as is because I really liked the natural look of it better than the edited version. It could be better because I could have cropped it differently or even just taken it horizontally. I am honestly really happy with the overall photo and it gives me really good memories.

Julie H- Lake Crest Sign

This image was taken in Lake crest one morning before school. The image was taken with my phone. To edit the photo I played with the exposure and lighting. I also cropped the image so the surroundings of the photo would not be distracting. Lastly, I blurred out the address on the mailbox in the image. I think this image would be better if I cropped a little more of the house in the background out, I think it a little distracting because of how much room it takes up in the back of the image.

ila h - tree of life

This image is called “Tree of Life.” It was taken in my car one morning before school. I took this photo with my iPhone. The subject of the image is the tree of life necklace I have hanging from my rearview mirror. I edited it by increasing the saturation and sharpening the focus on the tree. I am very proud of the way this photograph came out, but I think it would look better if i had cropped it a bit more.

Allie S- Zebra

The title of my image is Zebra. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on November 14, 2020. It was taken with a Canon EOS Rebel XS. I edited it by bringing up the brilliance and saturation and bringing down the exposure and highlights. I also brought up the strength, and radius of the vignette. I also croppedit in a little closer to focus on the zebra. If I was to do something better I would have tried to get a little bit of a better angle and maybe tried to frame the picture a little better.
