Hemin N.- Wooden House

This is a picture of the wooden block that is suppose to represent homes that are built in 3rd world country. I took the photo at Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham. I edited the image by cropping the background. Also, I changed the curve to make the picture darker. I used the sun as my natural light source. I think that this picture could have been better if my picture did not include my friend in the background. Also, I wish I had taken an ariel shot of the subject.

Zach C- Ready To Strike

I took this picture of my pet snake as she was moving around. I like how it looks like she's about to strike.

Matt A- NASCAR Race

This is a picture that I took at Talladega last month. It is a picture of the racetrack during driver introductions. I did not edit this picture, I did not really need to crop it and I thought the lighting was okay. I took this on my phone, so the focus is not perfect.

Ryan T- MPH gauge

This picture is the MPH/ gas gauges in my 2005 Toyota Celica car.  It was taken during the day early in the morning, plus this was part of my Night & Day project.  I enhanced and lighten the picture; and darken the picture a little.  I really like this picture; and the effects I did on this project.

Josh V- The Face of Halloween

This is a picture of an artificial pumpkin that I zoomed in on the mouth. I titled it "The Face of Halloween". This was a picture for the "Names with Pictures" assignment and it was my letter U. I consider it be my best image because I used my experience with the last assignment "Night and Day" to take this picture. I took this image from the top of my stairs just looking for letters of my name. I edited the image by getting rid of shadows with the stamp tool and by giving some layers to the image.

Victoria D- If I could go back in time I would

I took this picture in Lafayette Alabama where i was basically raised and spent most of my childhood years.  My family built this town back in like the 1800s.  I really like this picture just because when i look at it it takes me back.  I named in "if i could go back i would."  if i could change nothing about this photo i wish that it was more like focused and you could read the street signs.  I edited this picture by booting the contrast and boosting the highlights with more of a warmer feel then faded the color a little.

Ken C- Dusk

I took this last week  before i went to the game , i added a focal glim and darken the sides.

Emily W-My Little Cross

This a picture of the cross on top of this little wooden church we have outside our house. I loved this picture because of the beautiful color in the bushes. And I adjusted the contrast, levels, and the selective colors tool to bring out the bushes. It might be a bit better if there was a little more detail in the leaves.

Reginald K- Foggy And Cloudy Day

I took this picture one morning out side my house right before i went to school. it was really foggy as you can see and cloudy. For some reason, i really like this picture a lot. I think it looks pretty cool.

Nick E- The University of the South

I took this photo on my visit to Sewanee University. It's of the bell tower and dining hall. I edited it by saturating it and adjusting the shadows and highlights. I like the way the colors look as well as the bell tower in the background.

Tim H- House

I like this photo becouse it was my first edit in Photoshop ever.

Jordan M- Bird Bath

For this picture I took a picture of an old bird bath in my back yard. I liked the age and the character of it. I didn't do much to edit this, just increased the saturation a bit to bring out the greens and I slightly increased the contrast to show the lighting change at the bottom of the bird bath.

Mary L- Candle Reflection

This is a picture of a candle in a mirrors reflection. I took this picture for the night and day assignment. I really like how you can see the reflection and believe it turned out pretty.

Joerdan K- Burnout

This was originally taken as a apart of my Night & Day project one morning before school. The candle is actually lavender but after adjusting the brightness, contrast & saturation I messed around with the color and liked it best in this somewhat golden color. I really like how it turned out in the end.

Maia S- Molly

This is a photo of my cat molly she was sitting in the driveway and she hate cameras in her face so i was really happy when she let me get this close enough to take the photo. it could be better id=f the chair wasn't in the back ground.

Lakeshia.B - Light of the Land

Light of the Land was taken in a garden park. I just changed the levels , boosted the colors and used the cropped tool. I changed the contrast and played with the color levels to make some of yellows and greens.

Jennifer L- Pink Flower

I really like this picture. I took this one day in my front yard after school. I like how the pink in the photo stands out from everything else. But I think I could have focused in more on the flower itself. But overall I think this picture is good.

Justin H-Preserve Field

This picture was taken in the preserve a couple weeks ago. It shows the town hall and the green field. I like the photo because of the colors of the sky and the field.

Brian M- Reflection

I took this picture on the way to school. I took this picture because my car is one of those things that i can't live without it. For editing what i did was that i made everything outside the mirror black and white. another thing i did was bring the saturation out and darken the picture.

Andie C- Kids at Heart

I took this picture while my family and I were on vacation in Turks and Caicos. My parents enjoyed running around the resort and acting like little children, which is why i titled it Kids at Heart. My parents also wanted to have photos taken because in their words they wanted "the memories to last forever."

Will C-Red bench

My picture is called "Red Bench". I took this picture for the day and night assignment. I took it in the day but the bench is underneath my deck so it was dark. I had to manipulate the shutter and aperture. To edit it, I cropped it, made it black and white, and painted the bench back to its original state. I like this picture because the bench stands out. It could be better if I had been more careful at the top of the bench when I repainted it.

Ashley V- Hot n Cold

This Picture is a picture of my Starbucks cup on my brothers car. I took this picture because I thought it was cool and it was a random picture I took, not thinking about the assignment. I enhanced the color and boosted the contrast. I blurred the edges a lot to make the cup and the water on the car the main focus.

Jessica P-Orange Attraction

I took this picture in the garden at our house one day.  We have a lot of orange flowers that attract a lot of butterflies.  I think it would look a little better if I had gotten the picture at an angle that shows a little more of the butterfly, but I do like seeing the front of the butterfly too.

Laura T- Idaho Tents

I took this picture while camping in Idaho during our cross country trip. I originally was taking pictures of the mountains but really liked the way the tents looked in front of the mountains, like humans are the reason for messing up nature. I cropped this photo and changed it to black and white to add to the effect.

Robert C- My Alvarez

The picture I chose was of my Alvarez. I took this picture in my back yard against my house. I softened the image around the door and hardened it on the sides of the picture. I also added some contrast to the image and desaturated it. I made it black and white as well. I think that I could have made less glare on the tuning board, but overall I think it turned out pretty good.

Meagan P- New York

This picture was taken in June 2011, This was the first thing I saw in New York and I was really excited. I was trying to get a clear view of New York and I wish that the plastic bag in the corner wasn't there but if I cropped it then I wouldn't get the Pepsi sign in it.

Samantha D-Day at the Preserves

I took this picture of my friend in the clearing at the Preserves when i did a photoshoot for her. I cleaned up some spots in the picture using the clone tool, took out one of the cars in the background, used some contrast and darkened it a bit. I like how there are different colors all throughout the image.

Ryan S-Snowy Mountain

This picture is called "Snowy Mountain." I took this picture last year on spring break at Snowbird in Salt Lake Cit, Utah.  I like this picture because of the view and the snow, not necessarily the quality.  I edited this photo by editing out the string from my glove that was in the clouds using the clone stamp tool.

Luiza L- In My Backyard

This picture was taken outside in my backyard for the Night and Day project. I edited it by changing the exposure, changing the curve, increasing the brightness and contrast, and adjusting the hue and saturation so that the picture was more yellow. The light source I used was natural lighting outdoors. It could be better if there was a clear subject in the picture. All of the grass and leaves in the photo can make it seem chaotic and overwhelming.

Jay J- Light Post

I took this photo for digital photography class. The assignment was about night and day pictures. It ws taken at my grandmother's house at night.

Alexis M- Fish

Fish- edited with iPhoto with the black and white effect and an increase in shadows. This was taken at the Gulfarium at Fort Walton beach. I like this picture because the it looks like the fish is looking up at the sky.

Brianna B-Under Deck

This is a picture of under my deck where we have a swing. I did nothing to this picture to edit it because I liked how it already turned out. I thought this picture was really cool because of how the shadows stand out, and how the light brightens it. If I could change something about this picture I would have probably taken a wider range of this scene.

Mariah M.- YOLO in Idaho.jpg

This is a picture of the river from on top of a mountain in Idaho! We were on the trip and decided "Why not climb a mountain in Idaho?!" so over half the cross country team climb the mountain in Riggins, Idaho. For this picture, all I did was enhance the color! this is one of my favorite pictures because this shows one of the memories I'll never forget, even if i was scared to death! haha!

Danny J - New Orleans Mask Shop.jpg

This picture was taken when I was in New Orleans to play Mandeville and Baton Rouge on September 29th. The picture was of a Mardi Gras mask shop, but the reason I took it was because of the impressive display of plants on the floors above it. I edited the levels to make the picture darker, and I edited the white value to be darker; the reason for this being the corner of the picture was very bright initially. I also increased the shadows to 100 to make an outdoor picture more lifelike.

Reed W-Lori

This is Lori, a girl that i babysit after school. I love this picture so much because in definitely describes her in a nutshell. I told her to be my model for my "Portraits" project, and her being a three year old, she made up all her poses and told ME what to do! I customized the black and white feature, to make her eyes stand out, and I also like how innocent the photo looks, which is how she can be… sometimes (;

Tripp W-Rustic

I titled this rustic because, not only is it rusty, but rustic means to be lacking in social grace. So while the grill is rusted and relatively unappealing in real life, it can be turned into something unique and pleasing to look at. I tried to capture as much detail and texture in the rust as i could. I ended up adjusting the colors to a more green and blue to make it seem colder on the left, but as you progress to the right, the feel gets a bit warmer.

Mylie U- Eye of the Will

This is a picture of Will Clifton's eye. I took this because I needed an "I' for the name with pictures assignment. I liked this photo because it is an "i" using an eye. I copped most of his eyebrow out. Then I added a layer. I made the green more prevalent and then I erased it around the eye. It was too bright so I turned down the ocupancy.

Daniel L-Colonel

This is a picture of my uncles dog Colonel. It was taken at my uncles house. I saturated the color of the grass to make it more green.

Katie W- Camera Lens

I took this picture of my friend taking a picture of me. I really like this picture because of the color that the lens reflects in the picture. I edited the picture by adding contrast, and increasing the curves. I also made the hand that was hold the lens black and white, and added focus to the lens.

David M- Rim

This picture I took is titled "Rim".  I took the photo of a basketball rim at South Shades Crest at around 5 o'clock.  To take the picture I used the manual setting of my camera.  I edited the photo by centering it, adjusting the levels, and adjusting the brightness and contrast in photoshop.  I also straightened it in iPhoto because the picture was slightly tilted.  The only thing I would change about this picture would be if I could have photographed the rim in focus, instead of just the hook.  Overall, I really like the way this photo turned out.

Stephanie P Buckingham Palace

I took this picture on my trip to London a few weeks ago at Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. It is a picture of one of the guards at the palace. I brightened the contrast of the picture to make the colors pop more. Also I made the picture a little darker because the original was so bright.

Kayla B.-Bird

I named this picture bird. I took this picture while I was on the beach.  My subject is of a bird that I saw while I was walking. I increased the saturation and contrast. I used the rule of thirds in this picture and the bird is is in the first third.

Jenna O -Cuppy Cakes

  • I took this picture at my house in my kitchen. I had just made the cupcakes and frosted them.
  • I at first took it with instagram and then I edited it in photoshop and changed the levels and curves.
  • The picture could have less noise and be less grainy.
  • The cupcakes make me drool. I wish I could eat them again.

Madison V- Grand Canyon

This is a picture, I took a couple of years ago, of the Grand Canyon.  The canyon is so large it's hard to capture all of it's beauty in a picture. I like the warm colors and all of the detail in this photo.  I edited the image by enhancing its features and using brightness and contrast.

Shannon A- Brave

It is Photo of me close up of my face. Its was taken in my room with only me lamp. I like the way i edited it. I work on it for a good bit so Im proud my work put in to this. I tried the best I could and I hope everyone likes it. ^_^

Haley Y-Neon Glow

This Image was of some neon string with a black light. I looped the string in a vortex form, this helped create a cool loop effect. I really like the way the string glows agianst the blue and black back ground. The only editing I did was to crop the image. I think this picture could have been better if the bottom where I taped it to the floor did not reflect so it wouldn't be blurry.

Katelyn H- Flame

I took this picture of a torch in my backyard for the Night and Day project. I saturated it a little so that there was more emphasize on the candle flame.

Madison P-Sunrise

I took this picture early in the morning around 6am. It was taken from my front porch looking across the street. I edited the picture by adjusting the color, the brightness, and the curves. I really like how the trees ended up being blacked out so the the focus is on the sky and the colors of the sky instead. I also liked how the sky has the orange, purple, and red hues to it from the sunrise.

Madhukar M -Christmas Snow

This picture is titled Christmas Snow. I took this picture over winter break a couple years ago, in 2010. My cousins and I were traveling to Pennsylvania to visit some family. On the way back, we had stopped at a gas station while my nephew went to play with the snow.

I edited this picture in photoshop and loved the way it turned out. First, I turned it black and white to take out discolorations in the background, but decreased the opacity to allow for a smooth contrast. Then, I added a mask to retrieve the color from the jacket. I then messed with the levels to enhance the image. Finally, I cropped it so that it followed the rule of thirds.

Rayna B- Country lovin'

This picture is one that I took of me and my brother's cowboy boots when we were at the pumpkin patch. I really love the country so thats why I chose this picture. All I did to it was antique it and then darken it some.
