Mary L- Prelude

This picture is titled "prelude". I took this for the composite project. I added pictures of my piano, sheet music, and some tree to give it more texture. I also added another layer with just black stripes. I am very pleased with how this turned out.

Reed W- Every Rose Has Its Thorn

I took this picture for the Still Life project. The rose is originally a marigold, but I increased the contrast and altered the hue and bumped up the saturation. I also used filters and texturized the background and used the Dark Strokes filter.

Kayla B- Holly

I named this picture Holly because its of a holly bush outside my house.I sharpened this picture and I increased the saturation. This picture could have been better if it wasn't as blurry in the background.

Will C- Glow

I took this picture for my still life assignment. It is of a bottle of brandy covered in wax. To edit this, I used a filter which only shows the outlines and makes them neon. To further enhance the picture, I used the history brush to color the background to its original state. It isn't in its full state, but I think it looks cool. It isn't one of my favorite pictures, but I think its alright.

Madison P- Sunrise

I took this picture from my front porch one morning. I was taking pictures of the leaves on the tree for the color assignment. I turned on the flash while I was taking the pictures even though it was light enough outside to take pictures without it. I really like how dark parts of the picture became and how much the orange and red of the leaves and sunrise were emphasized. All I did to edit this picture is to adjust the levels a little bit.

Jennifer L- Sunny Tree

I took this picture in the courtyard at Hoover. I like how the tree looks dark because of the sun behind it. But i wish the sun wasn't as bright. Over all I like this picture.

Matt A- Guitar

This is a picture of a guitar I got for Christmas. I took it a few nights ago while working on my assignment. I edited it by adjusting the curves and changing the contrast.

Justin H-New World

This picture is of the moon and was taken on New Years Eve. I edited this photo by selecting different parts of the picture and changing them all different colors. This is called New World because it almost looks like a huge piece of land or a map for a different planet.

Haley Y- Flower

I took this photo in my neighbors front  yard. I was looking for something to photograph when i noticed the flower. I really like how The orange stands out against the white petals. I also like you can see the small details in the orange ruffles of the flower.

Katie W- Walking into the Sunset

I took tis picture of my friend Victoria on a lake trip we went on. On the way to the lake we had to drive down old country roads and we noticed this hill that had a really pretty sunset, so we went to go take pictures. I really like how this picture turned out. I played with the curves and made the trees in the background darker. I also enhanced the sky to make it stand out more.

Katelyn H- I'll Say I'm Fine

For this image I brought in a watch and added the flowers to make it look more complete. The used the text tool to add the text to it.

Jessica P- James at Night

I took this picture of my brother over Christmas break at South Shades Crest elementary school.  I had a hard time getting a picture that had enough light to see him well.  The only lights were the street lights and the lights from the wheels, so I had to brighten it up a lot in Photoshop.

Dkota W-Book on Life

I chose this picture for my photoblog because I really like how it turned out. I used this picture in the "Still Life" assignment as my narrative picture. This pictures describes a big part of my life. When edited i sharpened the image and used a filter as well. I kind of brightened the image too.

Mariah M.- Burnt Snow

This is a picture I took from my front porch on our snow day. I call this picture "burnt snow" because it reminds me of a marshmallow on a s'more. I honestly have no idea what I did to get it to look like this… All I know is that I was trying to make a composite picture and this is what I ended up getting.. it was honestly a mistake making this. I love this picture more than any other picture I made.. But I never could re-create it.

Victoria D- Glass

I took this picture of a bowl full of different glass items. I took a close up of the glass items and then edited the photo to where the black parts of the picture poped more. I also contrasted the colors and enchanted the whole photo. If I could change something about this picture i wish some of the glass pieces were more in focused.

Jenna S- Love of Cappuccino's

I chose this photo because I love cappuccino's. I drew with black on the back ground to cover up the things in the back. I used the Clone tool to edit out some spots on the island and coffee filter.

Hemin N.- Composite

This image emphasizes a reversal of the Manifest destiny idea that justified the expansion of humans across the US. In the picture, we see the angel, who is a representation of nature, take back the land that was originally stolen by the humans. This image is a combination of about 4 different images. One image was of the ruins of a temple, one was a image of a sunset, another was an image of the sky, and the last one was an image of an angel. I learned a lot about photoshop from the assignment. I got a better understanding of the different blending modes that exist in Photoshop. I also got a better understanding of how I can combine different images into one image. Overall, this was an extremely fun assignment.

Emily A.- Still life Composite

I really enjoy making composite images. These pictures are from our still life project. I took them all with a black background so all the focus would be on the images in the center. I edited the brightness and contrast to make the picture stand out.

Danny J - Aunts House

This picture was taken at my aunt's house in Mobile two weekends before Mardi Gras. For editing, I only cropped out some wood at the bottom; the lighting was perfect and didn't need work. However, I did darken the picture to bring out some detail. The results were beautiful. The camera was the first camera she ever got. She saved up and bought it when she was seventeen, in the fifties. There is a picture of mobile bay in the background and a… telescope? My uncle likes boating so this is relevant to both of them.

Samantha Dudley- Anna Composite

This is one of the composites i made for that assignment. This one is my favorite because of the dark colors and the images kinda fit with the words if you look at my friend's expression. The main thing i used was contrast and i brought the lettering out more using a layer mask.

Joerdan K- Roses

I took this picture of some dead flowers for the choice assignment. When I took it, the flash was a little bright so i used a warming filter to tone it down a bit. I also adjusted the brightness and contrast. It's one of my favorite pictures I've taken.

Jenna O - Leather Shadows

Leather Shadows was taken in class but the exposure on the camera was turned all the way down. I like the darkness of the black sheet in the background and the shadows the exposure made with the lighting. I just made the picture black and white because the tones of the color are really deep.

David M- Toy Car Trio

The title of my image is Toy Car Trio.  I like this photo because there are a lot of shadows and highlights in the image and even though it is black and white, the cars really stand out. To edit the photo I turned it black and white and used the color dodge and burn tool to darken and lighten some areas of the image.

Brianna B- Snowy Day

I really like this photo because I like how I blended it well, in a way. This is a photo of three different photos. I edited this by basically, cutting off parts of certain images, and then Turning the Opacity down. I had to duplicate and fill places so that they would look normal. I spent a good while on this photo trying to make everything look as natural as possible.

Cole G - Flower Composite

This image is a composite of many different photos. The focus is of course the blue flower, and then other pictures like one of pine straw and one of a gutter are blended next to it. There are also light streaks blended at the corners, and a picture of a glass to add some texture. I also blended in a white circle around the flower to draw focus to it.

Andie C- Emma Faye

This is a picture of my cousin Emma Faye. We were in Disney World over Christmas break, and this was taken waiting on my grandparents to get out of a show that they really wanted to see. She was always wanting me to take her picture or to take a picture with her. I really love her eyes, but they didn't show up as blue in this picture.

Ryan T- 3 Castles

This was my composite project which I took the three castles into one picture.  The Magic Kingdom castle, Hogwarts, and Belle's castle from the new Fantasyland  (Magic Kingdom).  I really liked doing this project putting pictures into one.

Blake E- Head Turning

No statement provided.

Ashley P - Coal Mine

I took the main picture of an old coal mind one day when I went out hiking with my family one day, and that is also when I took the picture of the  branches. The Third picture I took out at Camp Winnataska when I went for my senior pictures. I really like this picture because of how far the bridge goes back and how the branches cover the building. I also like the exposed brink on the top of the coal mine.

Amelia S- Snow Day

I took this picture on the one snow day we had this year. This picture is a tree in my backyard. I like this picture because it really focuses on the snow. I edited it by sharpening it and changing the levels and curves. If wish my neighbors house wasn't in the picture.

Emily W-Tire Composition

I made this during the composition assignment, and I don't know I think it looks kinda cool…This is a composition of a tire, bricks, and some plants. I used a difference and overlay layer.

Ashley C- Days Like These

took this picture at Little River Canyon towards the end of summer.  One of my favorite things about this picture is that I didn't realize there was a second ladybug until after I took it.  I titled this picture "Days Like These" because that's the name of one of my favorite Jason Aldean songs, talking about enjoying each day and living in the moment.  I edited this by adjusting the levels and curves.

Alyssa Y-Ferret Love

This picture was taken of my baby ferret when he was hyper and playing in a tunnel. I chose this picture because he is so dang cute! I like how he is just peaking his head out and I got the picture at just the right moment. Ferrets will be ferrets.

Ashley V- Cupcakes

I chose this picture because I like the detail of the cupcakes and it makes you want to eat them. I took this picture for still life because sit shows me, therefore I like to eat.

Catherine S- Fruit Still Life

I took this image in our digital photography class for the still life assignment. I like it mainly because of the bright colors in the picture. I edited it by bumping up the saturation and brightness.

Laura T- Mardi Gras Composite

My photo is Mardi Gras Composite. For this picture I combined my Mardi Gras cowboy hat, Mardi Gras mask, and a neon green light to add a shining color. I used filters to overlap all three images to make this one by flipping through all the types of filters until I was satisfied with the final product. I wish the light was not so bright at the bottom left but besides that I am happy with how it came out and I was able to become more familiar with my pictures and how you can throw pictures together that you would never think look good together.

Andrew L - Filters-pictorialists

This is a photo that I took for the Pictorialist assignment.  I took it in St. Louis next to the arch, and the lighting seemed to be just right.  The main adjustment that I made to it was a charcoal filter, but the blending was the key to make the dark spot on the top with less near the bottom.

Amber A- Spools of Thread

I took this picture of spools from my mom's sewing kit. I took this image for the still life close up assignment. I added a filter to give more contrast to the subject. Also, I enhanced the colors for each spool.

Alex D- Still Life

I took this picture for my still life assignment. All i did was make it a little darker to make it more dramatc.

Abhay T- Reflection of a Tunnel

I took this photo at Ross Bridge, soon after school before it became dark. I really like the angle of which the tunnel is in the photo, and I really like how one can easily see the reflection. I like the black and white feature because it makes the picture seem sharper, which the original coloring of the composition did not do. I think the picture could be better if the reflection was more evident, and centered rather than the actual tunnel. I also think the picture would be better if there weren't as many tree branches that distract the viewer from the main subject.

Arisha L- Leaves, a Rose & Concrete

This was one of my pictures I used for my composite assignment. I combined leaves, a rose and concrete. I really like the way the concrete shows up in the flower. It makes the flower look really intriguing. I also like the way the leaves blur in the background. The flower is really bright which I also like. I think this is the best composite picture I had!

Anissa L- Birmingham

This picture is a compilation of a few blurry pictures i had. I just used the motion blur on the main picture I used, which was a blurry photo I took while driving past the UAB emergency room. I added a picture of the Harbert Building and the AT&T building behind it, and on top I added a layer of lights from the Greek Food Festival that I took. I like the orange colors used in this picture and how it looks like a streak across the screen.

Abbey W- Don't Play with Fire

I really like this photo for some reason! I desaturated the whole image except for the one match out side the box and I raised the "yellows" with the saturation tool. I added the text "don't play with fire" I wanted to make it look like it was already on the box. I wish the background was a little softer and not so spotty.

Taylor S- Cupcakess

The picture i chose for this photoblog was a picture of cupcakes in black and white. I chose this because the night of the Super Bowl i had a party at my house and i invited some friends over and of course me and my family were going for the San Francisco 49ers. We rooted for them because my mom was born there and they have a really great team! So i thought why not take some pictures for my still life assignment? So i did, there were 49ers cupcakes sitting on our counter at our house so i took the shot and then i edited it  and made it black and white and shined the light up a little. That's why i code this picture.

Tripp W- Drum Lug Nut

I took this picture of a lug nut on a drum for the Still Life assignment. The room it was in was giving off so much red, that my camera couldn't correct it fully, even on its highest setting, so I had to do most of the white balancing in PhotoShop. I set the F-stop to 4.5 or 6 for a shallow depth of field. I wanted to focus on the wear of the drum head and the metal rim. I think this picture could be better if it wasn't such a tight shot and the lighting was a little different. Overall, I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Stephanie P- Sloss with Cate

I took this picture for the portrait assignment. I really like it because you can see the rails and the griffitti. I enhanced the color to make her dress pop, and i also used the brush tool to make the graffiti darker.

Mariah M- Brothers

This Picture is a portrait of Jared and His brother Justin. This is actually a family portrait, but I enjoyed them in this picture more. I took this picture on Christmas Eve at about 5 PM, and in my opinion it turned to good. What I did to it is: crop their parents out and play around with the black and white levels. I think the picture would be better if it was a portrait of just them acting goofy. These pictures are very rare for this family, and these brothers, so I took the picture as fast as possible.

Johannes S- Fire Department

This is an image of a fire truck in my neighborhood on Christmas Eve. My favorite part of the image is the lighting in the night. I edited the picture by cropping it and focusing on the important parts and by increasing the brightness and saturation. Both helped the lighting of the image and the subject overall.

Jay J- Moon

No statement provided.

Matt A-Race Car Side

This is a picture of the side of a race car that I have hanging on my wall. I took it last week while working on my choice assignment. I edited it by desaturating the blues and saturating the yellows. I like the angle it was taken at.
