Allie B- Where I Ate Lunch

This picture was taken downtown where I ate lunch about 2 weeks ago. I like how the sky is really bright. I think it could have been better if the lights and the umbrella weren’t in the picture

Crossan R- Night Moves

The title of this image is Night Moves. I took this picture of my friend downtown on the bridge at sunset. I took it with my Nikon d60 using my 55-300 mm lens and a 1/15 shutter speed. To edit this I used photoshop to make the colors more vibrant and to black out the color of his shirt so that all the colors would be in the background. I also put in the lens flare to add something interesting and outlined his face so it would stand out more. It could be better if more of his body was in the picture, and it didn’t just all become black at the bottom.

Alex H- Sloss

The name of this photo is “Sloss.” It was taken last weekend at Sloss Furnace. In Photoshop, I edited this image by making it black and white and adjusting the colors. I like this picture a lot because it looks old, like it was taken a long time ago.

Nick A- Blue Baby

This is called, “Blue Baby.” I took it using a Canon 7D with an aperture of around f.11. I edited it by adding the lights and also replacing the sky. I put a little blur on it and also adjusted the colors. I took this at a local car event a few months ago.

Rachel P- City Lights

‘City Lights’ was taken last week at The Club looking over Downtown Birmingham. It was taken with my FujiFilm, and all I did to edit this picture was darken it a little bit and crop it. I think this picture could be a little bit better if it was a little more clear.

Justin C- Walks

This image was taken in Downtown Birmingham. Only things I did to edit it was raise the contrast, added a filter and added a smoke effect.

Carmen V- Curiosity

I took the background picture in downtown and the other one in my friends room, a few weeks ago. I used my Canon T5 to take both pictures. I edited by blending in both pictures together. I think it could’ve been better if I would’ve edited the picture more, like added more filters to it.

Chris C-

I took this photo around the ross bridge area with my father  to get a good shot I used a wide angle lens and i had to leave the shutter open for 35 seconds and my aperture was on f/3.5. I did edit this photo at all because I’m cool like that.

jacob M- Town Hall

The name of this photo is town hall. I took this picture on teusday at the preserve with my canon. I used the clone tool to fade out my friend and make him look a little ghostly.

Meagan M- Downtown

This is a picture of a building downtown. I really loved the symmetry in this picture. I didn’t edited this picture much i only added a black and white layer and then darkened the light flowing from the window. It could be better if i dimmed the light down some more and it wasn’t so bright.

Madeline V.- Purple and I know it

This picture is called purple and you know it and I titled it that because the purple just really pops out to me.  I took this picture with my Nikon D3200 and I really didn’t edit it much except for just making it vibrant and saturated twice.  I’m really happy with how it turned out and I don’t think I would change anything!

Brianna S. - "Carmel-By-The-Sea"

This image was taken in Carmel, CA and I took it with my iPhone 5. The area right on the beach is called “Carmel-by-the-Sea,” hence why I titled the image what I did. I edited it by reducing the noise and defogging it, then enhancing the color. It could be better if I took it with an actual camera so the details of the image came out and it wasn’t blurry in some places also if I took a wider angle of it or got more of the beach and sand part, but I’m fairly happy with the way it turned out.

Katie J- Ground View

The title of my image is Ground View. It was taken this past weekend in Birmingham.
It was taken with my Nikon 3200 DSLR. I edited it by manipulating the
brightness and exposure as well as the vibrance. It could be better
if I took it at more of a straight angle.

Kerry M- Alabama Theater

The picture I selected for my 6th photoblog entry is called, “Alabama Theater.” I took this last weekend downtown.  I took it with my Nikon, the same camera I use for this class. I put a picture of the sign outside of the theater on top of it and used the overlay effect. I raised the contrast and brightened it. It could be better I took a picture of the sign at a different angle.

Davis D- The Shadows

I call this photo “The Shadows”. I really Like this photo due to the lighting of this photo. This photo was taken in downtown Birmingham on Morris Avenue. This photo is my favorite shot from the architecture assignment.

Matthew M- Aged

The title of this image is Aged. I took this a couple of weeks ago at the antique shop in Bluff park. I took it with my nikon D-50. I sharpened it and took at some plants in bottom part of the picture. It could be better if i took with a better camera.

Derek T - Lake Adventures

My photo is titled Lake Adventures and was taken Midday, Sunday at Oak Mountain. I increased the contrast to make the overcast more vivid and lowered the brightness because it was a little over exposed. The subject is in the middle but I think it the placement leads the eyes to the subject.

Grace H- Universe

I titled this photo “Universe” because I think it looks like a portal to another world. I took this photo about a week ago at Sloss Furnace. I took this photo with my canon t3i and edited it using photoshop. In photoshop I lightened the background but darkened the hole on the other side. I also adjusted the highlights, and shadows. Please feel free to comment constructive critcism about my photo!

Chris B- Flowers

I took this picture at my Grandfather’s funeral after the whole ceremony had ended I grabbed my phone and took this picture. It was really cool with how they were all laid out.

Carolina M - Back in the Old Days

This picture is called “Back in the Old Days” because the skates almost tell a story ( and this was taken at an antique store). I used a black and white filter and made the opacity to only 40-ish percent to wash out the colors. I also added contrast and sharpened the image pull out the detail of the worn out skates. I like the angle and the details but I’m not too sure about the bear in the background. It’s a little random but hey, its filled with shark teeth. Overall I really liked the turn out of this picture.

Hannah W- Sunrise

The title of this image is “Sunrise”. I took it within the last week from my front door step. I used my Nikon D3100 to take this photo. I edited it by darkening the house to attract attention to the sunrise on the horizon. It could be better if I increased the saturation to make the colors more vivid.

Bella M- The Leaves are Changing

These pictures were taken in my neighborhood and at tip top grill with a Cannon T3i. When editing this, i put a couple landscape pictures together and pasted them into the leaf. I also matched a few colors and blended a bit. This photo could be tons better, especially if the landscapes went together better and the leaf wasn’t so harshly edited it would look more realistic.

Natalie S- Sunflower

This picture was taken in the studio last week. I took this photograph with my digital camera. I edited it by increasing the saturation, adding contrast and darkening it a little bit. I could have added a different background, not making it so green. I like the concept of the image and the tone it gives the viewer.

Nancy N.- French Toast and Raisins

This is a picture of my breakfast on Matin Luther King weekend when my family went to the beach. The photo was taken with my iPhone 5s. To edit the picture, I added a warm filter and changed the levels slightly. I was generally content with the way the photo came out.

Emily D- House Painting

This picture is called “House Painting.” It was taken with my Canon PowerShot SX50 HS last week with a view downtown. I edited it by increasing the vibrance, hue and saturation, the levels, and the brightness and contrast. I really like this picture because of the colors and the fact it looks like a painting.

Abbey S- Flying

I took this picture last summer flying to Vermont with my sister. I took it on my phone then got it off Facebook so the quality isn’t so good. I edited it a lot on the app Snapseed. It kind of looks unrealistic. I really like how the sky looks swirly and how it looks like I’m flying over the ocean even when I’m not. Overall I think its a really cool picture I just wish it would be better quality.

Ben D- Watching Sunsets

This photo is titled “Watching Sunsets”. I took this February 8th by Tip Top. I shot this photo with a Canon t5i using a 50mm f/1.8 lens. I edited this photo by slightly darkening it and increasing the contrast, and adding a cooling filter in order to make the sky appear more blue.

Alice B- Bamboo Doll

The title of this photo is Bamboo Doll. It was taken at the corner of my room when the class was doing the still life assignment. This was taken by my Nikon L830. The subject in the photo is my wooden doll and a bamboo plant. When taking it, I placed a flashlight pointing to the back of the doll. While editing, I made it a more brighter because it was really dark on one side at first. I also changed the color of the white to make the light pinkish and added one filter to make it not sharp. I thought that would be good for this photo. To improve this, I could have made the set-up, like the background and light, to a better area.

Brianna S- PhotoBlog #6

The title of this image is “PhotoBlog #6”. I took this a couple of weekends ago in my house when I was painting my room. I took this with my Nikon D3100. I edited it by sharpening the actual paint drop and brightening the image. It could be better if there was even more focus on the paint and less on everything around it.

Anyul M- Jewls and Shoes

I took this picture for the still life assignment. I used my Nikon D3200 and used photoshop to edit it. I brought up the brightness and then added more contrast. i then i played with the color options to make them brighter and to make them stand out more.

Sara W- Building

The title of this photo is building. I took this for the architecture assignment with a nikon D4s. I used a wide angle lens and in photoshop I darkened it a bit and brought the contrast up and messed with the highlights and shadows and color. I really like this picture and I wouldn’t change it.

Noah B- Yung Lean

I call this photo “yung lean” because the model represents the visual aesthetic that the rapper, Yung Lean, makes and promotes. It was taken a few months ago near some woods near my neighborhood. It was taken with my Nikon d3200. I edited the photo making her brighter and adding color to the background. It could be better if the subject did a different pose than that smh.

Cole M- Proverbs

The title of this picture is “Proverbs”, due to the fact that the scripture found on the page is from the book of Proverbs. I took the base picture of the Bible in the about me assignment, but later reused it for the composite assignment.  For editing, I placed a picture of a flower bush on top of the Bible and then turned down the opacity. In addition, I added two strips of the sky from another picture to create a faint cross.

Jeremy L - Air

This picture I titled “Air”. It was taken several weeks ago at Battle Ground Skate Ministry. I took it with a Canon T5i and edited the coloring, exposure, and balance of lighting. It could have been better with outdoor lighting.

Chris B- Retro Guitar

I took this photo in my living room where the guitar I used to play is. I like the photo because it looks somewhat retro and the editing made the colors really complement each other well.

Ashley B- Painted Church

The title of this image is “Painted Church.”
This photo was taken of the steeple at Hunter Street Baptist Church. I wanted to do something a little different and give the photo a look that makes it appear to be drawn or painted, resulting in the given title. i adjusted the hue/saturation to give the building the bluish green color and to make the sky have several shades of white, yellow, and orange. i also brought up the contrast to make the picture look more grainy in some areas, just to top off the painted look i was going for.

Leah B- Colorful Composite

The title of this picture is “Colorful Composite”. I took these pictures all for the composite assignment. After combining these three images into one, I changed the contrast and saturation a good bit. Also, I changed the brightness a lot. One thing that I wish was different is I wished her eyes popped more.Other than that I am very happy with how this composite turned out.

Leah B- Smoke

The name if this picture is Smoke. I took this picture a few weeks ago, in the kitchen at my house. All I did to edit this picture is change the brightness and saturation a little bit.
Also, I changed the contrast some. The only thing that I would change about this picture is I wish it was a little more clear, but other than that I am happy with the photo.

Madeline V.- Building Trees

This photo is titled, Building Trees, and the reason I titled it this is because upside down it looks like a city, but right side up, it’s just a picture of trees with lights on them.  I edited this picture by doing the draw thing and setting it to neon and then I adjusted it some and made it black and white, and I just rotated the photo so it would look like buildings.  I took this photo with my Nikon D3200 and I took it in my neighborhood at night.  I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out, but I wish that maybe I had put at least a little color in there, like on the lights or something.

stephen b- In Alabama

I took this with a sony a300 at the high place in Alabama

Joicelyn R- Glowing Opportunites

The title of this image is “Glowing Opportunities”. It is a Photoshop edited composite of three different pictures. The first photo is of a house across the street from mine. The second photo is of one of my friends in the courtyard at school. The third, and final, photo is of a scarf I made with a lit candle in the middle of it. I like this picture because of the colors that you see. I think this picture really pops. Honestly, to change this photo overall I would just dim the candle a little in the middle of the picture so that you can see more of where the two different buildings combine.

Colton S.- Black and White Life

This image was taken at my friends house  in early November. I took it with my Cannon EOS Mk.IV and edited in iPhoto by making it black and white. I wish I took it earlier in the day where there is more light, since it is a bit blurry. I wish I could sharper the photo, if it wasn’t so blurry.

Christy N- Explicit Or Naw

I call this photo “Explicit or Naw” for obvious reasons, but lets not go there. It was taken in Cozumel, Mexico when I journeyed there last summer of 2014. I took it with my Samsung NX2000. I edited it on Adobe Photoshop, adding simple touch ups with saturation and exposure. I think I’m proud of the outcome, overall.

Erin R - The City Never Sleeps

I took this photo in Times Square in New York during the holiday break. i really liked how the colors came out so I didn’t do any additional editing, but I wish that the right side of the photo was less blurred.

Justin C- Reflections

The title of this image is “Reflections”
It was taken in Railroad Park in Birmingham.
I took it with my EOS Rebel and I edited it by slightly desaturating it.
I think I could have made it a little better if maybe the sun wasn’t like it is.

Grace H- Moon

I took this photo with my cannon t3i during the night. I used a tripod, cable release, and a 100mm lens. I set the ISO speed for 100 and the aperture as f/5. For the setting I used shutter priority mode. I edited this in photoshop by darkening the photo. I like it because it makes the sky blacker and makes the moon have a yellow tint. I also cropped it to follow the rule of thirds. Feel free to comment constructive critism about my photo!

Kerry M- At the Summit

I took this picture at the summit, at the beginning of the school year. I took it with my Nikon which is the same camera I use for this class. To edit the picture I made it black and white and increased the contrast. To make it better I could of brightened up the bottom of the building.

Samantha A - Homewood

I took this photo over christmas break on my iPhone 6 in Homewood. I edited it with VSCO, however it could be better if it was taken with an actual camera and edited on photoshop.

Rachel P- "Untitled"

This picture has no particular title. It was taken a few weeks ago behind my house during the Pick A Color assignment. The camera I used was a normal Nikon point-and-shoot. To edit this picture, I added some contrast, changed the red hue to were the red in the bricks popped out more. I also added some saturation. I think it could be better if I took this picture from a slightly different angle and he was slightly more off center.

Jeremy L- Tennessee Fall

I call it “Tennessee Fall”. I took this on a family vacation a couple of months ago, at a wild waterfall near Crossville Tennessee. I used a Pentax k200d. The colors, warmth, and exposure are corrected. It could be less pixelated and have a better focal range.
