Zach F -Pianist

The title of this photo is “Pianist.” I took the picture in my house in October. I compressed the image and added a black and white Enviromental Nik filter. I then brightened the image and gave it a white frame. While I quite the picture, I wish it could be less grainy and a bit more focused. I actually snapped this photo in secret while my mom was concentrating on her playing so the photo looked more natural.

Carmen V- Views

I took this picture with my phone. I took it of my friend and of the Clift where we were at. If it was sunnier it would of look better. I edited it by making the grass a bit brighter and cropping it out.

Betsy B- Toby

The title of this image is Toby because that is his name. I took this image in my room awhile back. It was taken with my hone which is a Galaxy note. I edited the image by cropping it and making it black and white. I could have taken the picture from a different angel.

Kimya M- Apartment Scene

I call this pic the Apartment Scene. This is the back part of the apartment complex. I took this pic with my iPhone 8 plus camera. I used the Analog Efex pro in the niks collection. I just darkened the image a tad and used the filter called Classic camera 1.

Hayden H- Windy Woman

This Picture was taken in my room with my photo studio. I used one of my soft boxes at 50% brightness on the right of the sculpture. This was taken on my Nikon D7100 with a shutter speed of 1/90 and an aperture of 1.8 and an ISO of 100. I edited this on Lightroom and added some contrast, brightness, and clarity. I really don’t think that I can mane this any better

Carmen L.- La Raza

The title of this photo is called La raza, which means the race. This was taken in the studio, on February 6, 2018. It was taken with a canon camera. I edited this picture by lowering down the exposure and rising the curves a bit. I think this picture could have been better if the necklaces weren’t too far apart from each other.

Lauren T- Old Ballet Shoes

The title of this photo is “Old Ballet Shoes”. It was taken in my room around December. This picture was shot with my Cannon Rebel T3. I edited it using the NikCollection Analog Effex Pro. It could have been better if I had taken it from a different angle. My 2 favorite types of edited pictures are ones with a ton of color, and those that look like they are old photos from the early-mid 1900s. I’ve always thought older-looking pictures give off a really nice, vintage vibe. Plus, I love ballet! These were my first pair of pointe shoes. The title has 2 meanings. The first being that they are old pointe shoes because of time, and the second being that the picture is supposed to look old.

Anna Kate L- Friends at State

This photo is called Friends at State. It was taken at Bryant-Denny Stadium on December 6th, 2017. I took this image with a Nikon D3400 DSLR. I edited this photograph by turning down the brilliance and bumping up the amount of exposure, highlights, shadows, and brightness. My goal was for the final product to look clear and for Hartleigh and Lydia to really stand out. This could look better if the guy to the left of the girls wasn’t such a distraction. It would also looked better if the photo was cropped inward more. I have made so many great memories at the Hoover High state championship games and I cannot wait for many more. Go Bucs!!

Alexa M- Mood Child

This photo was taken with my Canon SL1 in the studio at Hoover. Before I edited this photo, her face was originally all lit up, but I darkened the background to make half her face look like a silhouette. I think it could be better if her face was a little brighter.

Katherine P. - Fuji

The title of my image is Fuji. This was taken at at house a couple weeks ago. It was taken with a Nikon CoolPix L120. I edited it using the Analog Efex Pro 2 from the Nik Collection in PhotoShop. I turned up the contrast and turned down the exposure so you could see the lights better. It could have been better if the camera as brighter than the rest of the image.

Fahima M- A Beautiful Pink-Pruple Sunset

This was taken from the driveway of my house on November 29th 2017. It was taken with my iPhone 7 camera. I edited it with the Color Efex Pro in the Nik Collection Plug-Ins on PhotoShop, with a little of the apple photos editing software. It could be better if I add more dimension and adjust the angle of the picture taken and make the purple blend more straight not just built up on the left side making the photo look uneven. I love this photo because it reminds me of the Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer.

Emma B- Teddy Bear

The title of this picture is called Teddy Bear. This picture was taken in my room on February 12. It was taken with a NIKON D5000 camera. I made the image black and white. I could’ve added things to the image by applying color to the lasses of the baseball.

Gracie C - Mom at Auburn Game

The title of this image is “Mom at Auburn Game” because it is a picture of my mom at the 2017 Iron Bowl. It was taken on November 25 in Auburn, AL. I took this picture with my CANON EOS Rebel T5. I am not sure how I edited it, but I think I brightened it and upped the contrast. The picture could better if I took the picture from a different angle or adjusted my subject a little bit.

Austin C. - Hospital

I named this picture “Hospital” because I took it in a hospital. It was taken at Caraway Hospital and I’m not sure when it was taken. It was taken with my Nikon D3300 and I put a filter over the image. It could be better with the lighting and the camera position.

Dalton C. - Accessaries

The title of this image is Accessaries, it was taken on top of a pillow case in my room. I took this image with my Canon EOS T1i camera. I edited this image by centering the subjects in the frame and sharpening the image. I also made it a little bit darker just so that it was easier to look at. I wish that I would have gotten a little bit closer so you could see more detail in the watches.

Maura P- IZZE

I named the photo IZZE, because the flower is in an Izze bottle. It was taken in my room on top of a dressor in front of my white wall. It was taken with an Nikon COOLPIX L310. I edited it by darkening the photo, adding a black and white layer, then rising the opacity. I think the flower color is a little dark.

Danielle M - Jaune

The title of this photo is “Jaune”, which means “yellow” in French. I took this picture in the studio with Mr. Rigsby’s camera and tripod. I took all of the items in the studio that were yellow or yellow-looking and put them all in a single shot. I edited it by increasing the saturation and vibrance, then took out some of the fuzz on the background sheet by using the clone tool. It could be better if everything was more in-focus.

Abby W- Blue & Empty

I took this picture in the downtown Homewood in between two storefronts. To edit, I increased the brightness and contrast of the background layer, added and Nik filter (analog), then added a second brightness and contrast layer on top of the Nik filter- increasing both. I painted a vignette to increase the drama and used the dodge tool to brighten the chair.

Braxton S- "Merica"

The title of my image is “Merica”. It was taken as a still life on a chair in my house on February 12th, 2018. I took this with my Canon EOS 50D. I edited it using Analog Efex Pro 2. I put a motion blur on the middle of the picture to make it look like the eagle was sort of flying. I think it could be better if there wasn’t so much negative space in the image

Anna H- The Anonymous

I titled this image The Anonymous due to the fact that I have no idea who I was photographing, but I would recognize her by her skates. This image was taken at Skates 280 in November with my Canon T2i. I feel that the image could be better with a brighter flooring and a better angle of the design on her skates.

Presley G- Red Antique Flower

I titled this picture red antique flower. To edit this photo I used analog effects and darkened it a little bit. I took this image in the court yard of Hoover High school. I took this on my iPhone 7 plus. I chose  this picture because of the sharpness of the flower and how analog effect made it look like an antique.

Charis H- Rainy Days

This picture was taken on a rainy day during a road trip later in the day. We were stuck in traffic and I used the break lights of the cars in front of us to illuminate the rain drops on the windshield. I increased the saturation and contrast. I also played with the shadows and highlights in this picture.

Alex H - Snow Day

This picture is named Snow Day. I took this on the snowy in December. This is a closeup picture of a maple tree in my back yard. I edited it by turning up the contrast a little bit and turning up the brilliance. This image could be better if I was more focused on the snow.

Will C- Walk With Me

This is a still life I took called Walk With Me.  I used my Canon Rebel to take the picture in the studio of the photography room. I used my boots, shirt jacket, and Zach’s glasses and arranged them on the table and edited them mostly by adding and taking away some shadows. I also made the side of the boots a little more vibrant and warm to match the rest of the picture.

Taylor C- Light Show

I took the picture of a light show I went with my family to see it was fun and it was cold. My little cusin loved it. she would stick her head out of the sun roof and look at all the lights as we drove . And the coolest part was that the music matched with all the lights as they blinked .

Kimya M- Happy To Get Homework Answers

I called this one Happy to Get Homework Answers. On this day the teacher has to check our answers to see if we did it or not and if they look like the right answer. I helped him copy my answers and didn’t get caught. It was taken with my galaxy s7. I edited it with photoshop. I dimmed down the hue and the saturation and used the curves.

Marshall H- "Happy Birthday"

“Happy Birthday” was taken at my Grandfathers house with an Iphone X. I changed the tint and the saturation of the picture to make it whiter. It could be better if I got my grandfather to make a better pose. This was a picture of his 90th birthday.

Carmine C- Winter Day

I took this picture on the doorstep of house. I took this picture with my iPhone 6+S. I didn’t edit this image at all. This image could maybe be better if I edit it.

Christian P - The Story of Stories

This image is called The Story of Stories, it is a composite of two pictures which were both just taken in my bedroom.  I took both of these with my Nikon D3300 and edited one of them to make it black and white then blended in the other picture of my book shelf to make it look like the books are coming out of the pages.  I think it could be better if I had a more interesting background or just a slightly better picture of the bookshelf.

Mariam T - Jewelry

This is a picture I took of jewelry. I used Mr. Rigsby’s Pentax K200. I think this picture would be better if the background wasn’t so dark and empty looking. I do like the tassel in the back because it adds a random pop of color. I also wish I straightened the beads at the bottom because one bead is standing up.

Savy G- Dark

The title of this image is called “Dark” I just named it that because I didn’t know what to name it. This is from the composite assignment so the pictures were taken all at different times. My canon Rebel t6 was taken with these pictures. I edited it by taking 4 different pictures and layering them in different positions. it could maybe be better if it wasn’t so red or purple but I like the colors together. In the top right is a spider on a web that I thought looks really cool.

Annalisa P- Cards

The title of my image is Cards, I took it with my Canon T6, It was taken in my room and I am using it for the still life project. I edited it using photoshop, all I did was enhance the vibrance of the photo and messed with the hue and saturation. However I think this picture could have been better if I used a different background, or maybe If I put the cards and dice on a checker board.

Carter S- Goofy

I like this photo because it displays an accurate representation of the goofiness and fun me and my friends have in our 7th period math class with our favorite math teacher Ms. McClean. I took this photo with my iPhone camera and I do not think any edits would be necessary to be made because as a natural unedited photo is best to show what is happening in the photo. I am the fellow on the left, Landon is the fellow in the middle, and Beyeron is the fellow on the right. There used to be one other person who sat at our table but we had exiled him to another table for not coming to school one day. Thank you for taking the time to read about the best photo on the blog, I appreciate your time. Have a wonderful day.

Yovani T - Helena Lake

I took this photo in Helena behind some houses and I thought it was a nice relaxing view. I didn’t do much to this Photo but I increased the amount of light and color in the photo because it looked too dark and thought it looked better the way it is now.

Amber T- Hands

The title of the image that I choose is Hands. This was taken during Christmas Break in the neighborhood playground area. It was taken with my Nikon D70. I edited it b merging 2 pictures of her face to blend to make one picture and I also added a background and made it black and white. It could be better if I aligned the face and lightened some of the shadowed areas. I wanted to share this image because I thought it was a little weird and interesting to look at.

Diego M- At Night

I took this photo at night. We went to the parking deck next to the City Federal Building. What I like about the picture is how the blue lights came out but its also what I don’t like about the picture is that they came out too bright .

Omar S- Sophia

The title of this photo is Sophia. This Photo was taken at the Pelham Civic Center December 9,2017. This photo was taken with a Nikon D3300.I increased the Saturation a little bit, raised the Brightness of the photo slightly and decreased the Highlights. The Photo could be better if she didn’t have as many loose hairs all over the place.

Hannah J -Decay

This picture is called Decay, and it was taken in the dining room of my house on January 8th. I used a Canon PowerShot to take the image, then edited it with Analog Efex Pro, Dfine, and a photo stylizer. I also cleaned a little bit of the dust and grime up, but it might have been better if there wasn’t quite so much dirt. I had taken this photo because I thought the color drained ladybug looked pretty. There are a ton of ladybugs in our house during the winter.

Carson R - Waving in the Wind

The title of this image is “Waving in the Wind”. This was taken in Tybee Island right off the beach in early January with a Nikon D3400. I brought up the contrast and saturation and sharpened the grain-like plants. I think this image could be better if the ocean was more defined in the background than it is.

Emma B-Bubble Gum

The title of this photo is called bubble gum. It was taken on November 22 in the Preserve. It was taken with a NIKON D5000 camera. I pretty much just brightened it up. I could’ve taken the shot where there was not so much shadow.

Mia R- Jaquie

I took this picture in November at the art museum in the contemporary section. I took it with my iPhone 6s and the only editing I did was cropping the picture. I think it could be better if she was more in the center of the picture.

Tamoria F- The Tree

This photo is about the tree. The tree is very pretty and bright. The sunlight gives it a natural glow, so brightening the picture was unnecessary. This picture was captured at a very good moment being that it was currently going through a change in leaves. I could have embellished this picture in many ways, but I decided to leave it in its natural state.

PierceB- Charles

Charles is the name of this photo, because that is the name of the cat. The picture was taken over Christmas break in Arizona. I used a Sony DSC-H300, and the only editing I did was to crop the photo a tiny bit. If the Image was a little sharper I would like it a little more.

Joseph A- American Gothic

The title of the picture is American Gothic after the famous painting for comedic value. I took this photo in my aunts yard I the middle of the afternoon. I used a NIKON D3S. I used the depth of field to my advantage to blur out the background for a greater focus and sharper image. I Brightened it up a little and used the rule of thirds to center the image. There could be less blur in the white areas and could be sharper. I also darkened it a little bit to enhance it.

Yuliana Z.- Is My Hair Okay?

The title of this photo is “Is My Hair Okay?”. I took this photo on December 20th, 2017. It was taken with my Samsung Galaxy S8 of my friend Lara. I wanted to capture a photo of her doing something so natural without her noticing to get authentic feeling to the candid portrait. I edited the photo by turning the photo completely black and white, and then individually color different aspects of the photo.

Jacob T- OR Tree

This Picture is called OR tree. OR stands for Orange Red since that those are most of the colors in this Image. This image is made up of three pictures. The picture of the tree was taken in Gatlinburg Tennessee and I took it over the Christmas Break. The second picture was taken with a long exposure of a firework on New Years. The last picture is of some clouds and I took that near Tip Top Grill. All the pictures where taken with my Canon T6 Rebel. I edited it by using filters on the layers and having them merge. I think that this picture is very intense and very contrasted in some areas.

Mahogheny L- Court Yard Flower

This is a flower that grows in the court yard of Hoover High School.I took this photo with my iPhone 7 Plus.I edited this by increasing the contrast and adding a little sharpness.I think this photo could be better if I had put the flower in one of the corners.

Anna H- Elie

The title of this image is Elie because that’s the name of the subject. It was taken at Skates 280 on November 11th with a Canon camera. It was edited only in the photos app, but could have been better with a different or darker background that helped the subject stand out more, or if the photo had been planned.

Michelle A.- Baby's First Christmas

The title of this image is baby’s first Christmas.  This was taken in my bedroom on December 15th, 2017. I took this photo with my iPhone 6s. I edited by adding a warm filter and brighten up his face so it could be like the attention of the picture. It could be better if my brother wan’t moving so much.

Jacob T- Two Suns

This picture is called Two Suns because the main subject is two suns. The picture is made up of three different picture which where all taken next to Tip Top Grill. I took these with my Cannon T6 Rebel. I edited it by merging layers together and using layer masks. I think that it could be better if I used another close up picture because the light from the sun on the right seems more intense and makes it seem more like something was edited instead of it being real.
