Madeline T - Merry-Go-Round

I named this “Merry-Go-Round” because it was a Merry-Go-Round that I found In my neighborhood.  I photographed this on the snow day before Christmas when my neighborhood was planning on having a festival.  This was taken with an iPhone 7 plus, and I also used the depth effect mode.  I enhanced the color on this image and also minimized the contrast.  I could’ve made this picture better my making more of the focus on just the zebra.

Fahima M- Pakistani Wedding Stage

I selected a picture I took at my relatives wedding. It was taken at the Wynfree Hotel by the Galleria. It was taken with my iPhone 6 with snapchat. I edit it with the Photos adjustments, re-touched a few spots, and sharpen the picture. It could have been better by keeping the angle leveled and focused. The picture was taken before the bride and groom walked in, it was night time.

Kirsten H.- Climbing to the Top

I named this photo Climbing to the Top. I called it this because I had to climb several flights of stairs and ladders in order to take this picture. It was taken in Quito, Ecuador with my iPhone 6s. I edited this photo by making the photo overall brighter and trying to define the colors. Although, I think I could make it better by centering it and crop out some of it. I love this photo because it reminds me of how fun this trip was.

Zach B. - The City at Dusk

This photo was taken on December 29th 2017 at the parking Deck by Redmont Hotel. I was with my friends Cameron and Ashley. We were discovering down town and found this cool parking deck for great photo shots of people and nice scenery of down town Birmingham with old abandoned apartments, hotels, and companies. I added just a little bit more brightness to the photo, but not to much to take away from the drastic lighting in the photo. This photo could have been better if the outline of the buildings that were in the dark could have been more visible giving a more clear area of where the photo was taken.

Caroline K- Sunshine

This image was taken this past weekend as I was coming back from West Virginia. It was about 4pm and the sun had been in the perfect position for it to come through. I edited this by turning up the saturation/brightness just a tad. I wish that this image was not as shaky, but I was on a moving bus. I took this photo using my iPhone 7.

Emily R- Gloomy Dayz

I titled this image Gloomy Days, because this picture looks like it was taken on a very cloudy/rainy day. It was taken close to hoover in a field in the woods. It was taken with my iPhone 7+. I edited this picture with VSCO. I wish that the background was a little more uniform.

Abby W- Coil

I took this photo around eight in the evening. I shined a flashlight near the top of the coil to reveal the shadows on the wood. To edit I increased the brightness slightly and increased the contrast. I also increased the saturation to make the warmth of the coil stand out against the cool wood. I painted a slight vignette around the edge.

Sara A- Masked Lover

The title of this image is “Masked Lover”. This was taken right outside of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens on July of 2017 on my Canon Powershot HX50. I edited it by adding the black and white filter to make the photo more eerie looking, and toning down the exposure. I wish I had positioned the flowers and mask better by balancing hem more in the center. Additionally, I think if the day were more cloudy, the picture would look more balanced as far as light goes.

Katherine P - Views

I titled this image Views. It was taken at Tip Top Grill on Shades Crest in November of 2017. It was taken with a Nikon CoolPix L120. I edited it by turning up the brightness ad adding black point to make the dark colors stand out more. I then added a vignette to make the outside of the image darker. I could be better if it was better quality and there was more to look at on the horizon.

Olivia N- Madyson

The photo is called Madyson and was taken in Hoover,Al on December 11,2017.I took this picture with an iPhone 7.I did not make any edits, since this is the original image. It could be better by adjusting the lighting and her position in front of the camera.

Arzoo Q- FLOWER

This image is called FLOWER. This picture was taken a couple of months ago on September 2. I took this picture with my Canon Power Shot SX530 HS Camera. I chose this picture because I love the nature and flowers inspire in a way. I used the app photo and photoshop to edit this image. When I used those app, I brightened a little and used a lot of the definition in this image which made the stem and the leave more detailed. This picture could be edited better in peoples perspective.

Teyshaun W. - Welcome to My House

The title of the selected image is Welcome to My House. It  was taken in Russet Woods on December 8th of 2017. It was taken with my KODAK Easyshare Touch CameraI used photoshop to edit it. The original photo was dark and I used photoshop to brighten it up. I also used a cooling filter. It could be better because it looks really white from all the snow and like I just drew with a white marker for the background. So, I probably could’ve taken it from a little higher on the hill so you could tell that I was snow on the ground. This photo was taken from the 2017 snow day in December.

Harrison K- Purple Eyes

This photo was taken during the snow of December. It’s an interesting photo to me because of the eyes on the rock. I feel like the eyes give the rock face a more human look to it. The look of the eyes on the rock face almost match that of the person being photographed.I edited this by lowering the lighting bring out the color and sharpness. I also softened the image just a bit to darken the edges.

Amari M - Why Here

This photo was taken on the road and I don’t exactly know where. On December 8, I took this picture with my iPhone 6s and used apple photos to edit it. The pictures main subject is the snowball siting on the hood of the car alone when the rest of the snow was in the woods and on the trees. I sat and wondered why that one snowball was just sitting on the roof when the rest of the car was snow free.

Zach F - Devil Kid

The name of this picture is “Devil Kid.” It is a composite of a previous picture on here titled “Wall.” I edited the picture by duplicating the layer, giving it a polar to rectangular distorted filter, and then giving it the difference filter. I then blacked out the surrounding area until only the wing like shapes remained. I think this picture could be better if the left wing wasn’t so much larger than the right wing.

Mollie E- "Home Away From Home"

This image is entitled “Home Away From Home” and was taken at my summer camp, Sumatanga. I took it with my Nikon 3400 camera. I edited this picture by decreasing the contrast and increasing the brightness slightly, as well as used the shadows and highlights too all in Photoshop. To make this image better I could have figured out a way to make the front right beam match the others better.

Jacob T- Kait Silver Efex Pro

This Picture Is called Kait Silver Efex Pro. This picture was taken at my house in early October. It was taken with my cannon T6 Rebel. I edited it by using Silver Effects Pro in the Nik Collection. I think that I could have chosen a better background that was balanced between black and white.

Anna Kate L- Best Friends

The title of this image is “Best Friends”. It was taken in Panama City Beach, Florida on November 11th, 2017. I took this photograph with a Nikon D3400 DLSR. I edited this picture by increasing the brilliance and exposure. I also turned down the brightness to try to give the picture a darker look. This image could be better if Madeline and Sophie were more in the center rather than to the side.

Katie C- Cold Snap Camaraderie

This picture is titled Cold Snap Camaraderie. It was taken behind the Bluff Park Creamery in late December of 2017 with my Sony ILCE- 6300. During the editing process, I removed a few minor blemishes from the model’s face, turned up the brightness a bit, sharpened the picture overall, added a more flattering filter, increased the color contrast in her eyes, blurred an awkward sliver of brick- where the wall was accidentally put into focus, and did some whitening here and there. Although I do enjoy this picture, it could potentially be better if the focus was more on her face rather than her sweater (as the majority of the photo is aimed towards her oversized winter attire), and if I took into account the rule of thirds a bit more cautiously. I do enjoy that the background isn’t stark white and is also “imperfect” with the blurred residue of trees in the background. It seems to complement the winter colors in her sweater.
Model: Britt Eichhorn

Braxton S- Deep Roots

The title of this image is Deep Roots. This was taken in Columbus, Georgia over Christmas break. I took it with my Canon EOS 50D. I edited this image by upping the brilliance, exposure, brightness contrast, black point, and cast. I lowered the highlights, shadows, and saturation. This image could be better by getting the sky in the picture instead of being just a white background.

Yara A - Georgetown Lake Park

I selected a picture that I took at Georgetown lake park. It was taken during the day and I edited it by adjusting the filters. The picture could have looked better if I would have chosen an angle that adds brightness to the image.

Alyson W.- Flowers

This photo was taken on the Ross Bridge golf course last year around September during homecoming 2016 with a Professional Camera. All I did to edit the photo was add some color in there, exposure, vignette, enhance, and brilliance. I believe this photo could be better if it had more quality and was shot from another angle.

Christian P - Simple Smiles

This picture is called Simple Smiles, I took it a couple of months ago at a cross-country meet when I was working on the portraits assignment.  I love how naturally it seems to portray the feeling of happiness at the time and I tried to reenforce that by editing it to increase the color with contrast, saturation, and highlights/shadows.  I think it could have been better if I had a better background  that didn’t distract from the subject as much.

Carson R - Gone Surfing

This image is entitled “Gone Surfing”. It was taken in Tybee Island, Georgia on January 13, 2018. I took this image with my Nikon d3400. I brought up the contrast and saturation on this image. I also increased the clarity slightly. I think this would be better is the surf board was more distinct against the ocean.

Dalton C. - Cricket

The title of this image is Cricket, it was taken at Ross Bridge when I saw a a cricket sitting on the railroad tracks. I took this picture with my Canon EOS Rebel T1i. I darkened the image and increased the contrast and shadows to keep the cricket as the main focus of the image. I wish I would have gotten a little closer to see more detail in the picture.

Teyshaun W- Tennessee Trip

The title of the selected image is called Tennessee Trip. Great Smokey Mountains National Park on March 30, 2017. It was taken with an Apple iPhone 6. I edited it using photos app. I took it over spring break when I went to Gatlinburg, TN. We went there to see the Great Smokey Mountains.

Omar T- Police Chase

Police chase. Montgomery Highway. Canon Rebel T6. Made the photo darker. More Focus image. The Photo looks like a cop chase which it wasn’t also was taken at night I had pulled out camera really quickly.

Morgan-G Festive Bunny

My picture is Festive Bunny. It was taken with my J7. I made it brighter, remove anything unnecessary, and made it a different tone. I think its good the way it is.

Kam W- My Family

The title of this photo is called My Family. It was taken at my uncles house at 2:30. I took this photo with my Lumix Panasonic camera. I edited it by increasing the definition and noise reduction. It could be better if I wasn’t moving a little

Zach F - Wall

The title of this picture is “Wall.” I took it in at the back of my local CVS on October 2. I edited the photo by increasing the contrast and shadows. While also increasing the intensity of the red color. The original photo was taken at night and I used my car’s taillights to highlight myself, which made editing the photo a cinch. I feel that this photo could have been a little bit better if the positioning and excess space in the picture was cropped out but otherwise I am really proud of this picture.

Ashley M- Happy

I titled this picture Happy. I took this at the stadium. It was taken with a canon rebel t6. I added more color to it. I think it would be better if I focused it more.

Carmen L. - Sweetheart

The title to this image is Sweetheart. This was taken at RailRoad Park on Friday, November 24, 2017. It was taken with an iPhone 6s. I edited it by adding contrast and a little brightness and enhancing the color of the sunset more. I think I could’ve done better by maybe taking a closer picture.

Jacob T- Orange Tractor

This Image is called Orange Tractor. I took this on November 10th at Myers Plants and Pottery. I took this with my Cannon T6 Rebel. I edited it By making the background black and white then raiding the opacity to about 50% to try and pull attention to the tractor. I didn’t like the background from any of the angles but this was the best out of what I shot.

Jahred T- Jacket Pride

I call this picture Jacket pride. I took this picture with an really old camera at my school. I only brighten the picture to make me more seeable. The picture was taken on our last game of the season and I was flexing on people in my class. Could have been better if I taken it in a better location and didn’t have to brighten it up

Mike H.- Wedding Photo

My picture is Wedding Photo. It was taken with an LG V20 on the stairs in my house on November 10, 2017. I changed it to black and white and removed the pimples on my face.

Arriana F-Wedding

This was my big sister’s Wedding Day. The picture was taken in Birmingham, Al on July 29, 2017.The picture was took with an iPhone 7 Plus in Portrait mode. The lighting in certain areas can be improved. I caught the bouquet at the wedding. That was pretty fun.

Carmen V- Su Bautismo

Its of one of my nieces and it was the day of her baptism and she was walking and well here she had stopped crying I edited it by making the background darker and make her brighter a little bit.

Grace B- Red White Blue

I named this photo Red White Blue. Im really proud of this picture. I took it with my Canon XSI and it was taken in the courtyard. It was taken during 6t period. I increased the brightness and contrast a little but that was it. I really like how I got the flag flying and how you can the sun glare. I really like the way it turned out so I don’t have any way it could be better.

Maura P- Blue Door

The photo was taken about 2 weeks ago of a front door. It was taken with my camera, a Nikon COOLPIX L130. I edited it by adding saturation to the door color and making the background duller the the door. The photo is fuzzy at the top of the door because of the shadow, if I took the photo at a different time there might not be a shadow.

Jacob T- Old Car

I called This picture Bel Air. This was taken at Myers Plants and Pottery in Pelham on the Friday we had off for Veterans Day. I took this picture with my Cannon T6 Rebel. I edited it by increasing the light and putting a filter on it using Analog effects in the Nik Collection. I think that the light on the pumpkins is really harsh lighting and would look better if it had some softer light. I looked up what kind of car this might be and I think that it is a 1952 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door. A lot of the Chevy cars from the 50s have the same style but the Bel Air matched the pictures the most. I also noticed a hole in the passengers side window. I wanted to find out the history behind the car so I emailed Nancy Myers, the daughter of the original owners. She told me that it was Chuck Myers car. Chuck Myers and his wife Ruby where the people who first bought and opened the store. The man who Mr. Myers sold the car to contacted the Nancy and her husband to sell the car back to the them in the late 90s. They drove the car back to the shop which is surprising since the store opened in 1971 and Mr. Myer’s probably owned the car before that. The car was parked in the back of the property for a while and in the time it was there someone threw a rock at the window. The car was brought back down and put in front of the shop to use as a prop. Many people have asked to buy the car, but because of the sentimental value the owners will only sell the car if you buy 4 acres of property that Myer’s Plants and Pottery is on.

Danielle M - Sparkle

The title of this image is “Sparkle”. It was taken at a clothing shop in Bluff Park at nighttime with my Nikon D5100. I edited by increasing the overall saturation/vibrance in the image, messed with the brightness some, and then added a grain filter in Photoshop. It could be better in a number of ways, but I wish it was a tad brighter, even though it’s supposed to be a nighttime image. The way the lights shows up was completely accidental, but I ended up liking it a lot.

Taylor C- In My Room

It was taken in my room. I turned it black and white to give it a cool look then went back and edit some of the faces like zits and stuff to clear it up and shaded the corners. I don think it could bee any better

Emma B - Fall

Not statement provided.

Harrison K- TY

This image was taken in the photography classroom. To capture this image I use a standard iPhone 6s. To start the editing process for this picture I moved the Light adjustment setting to the right one notch.I then moved the color setting to the right 2 notches where I had the full amount of color.Next I used the sharpen tool with intensity at 0.67, edges at 0.22, and Falloff at 0.69.The Definition is at 0.70 and the noise reduction is at 1.40.Next I used the vignette tool with strength at -0.54, radius at 0.88, and softness at 0.57.To  finish this photo I used the warmth setting to the max setting and I pushed the levels tool inward as far as I could.

Noah M- Holy Bible

I chose this image because I really love how the final product turned out. I took this for the Pick a Color assignment. I made the image black and white first before restoring the color just to the Bible so it could pop a little bit more. This is definitely one of my favorite photos I’ve taken in a while.

Emily R- Morning Flowers

The title of this photo is simply morning flowers. This was taken about a month ago. I Took this with my iPhone 7+ with portrait mode. I bumped up the color and saturation. I made it a little darker and a little more defined. I wish that there was a little more happening in this picture, but overall I like this picture!

Lauren B- Duchess

This image is called Duchess because that’s the name of this sweet dog that my old neighbor owns. I took this over Thanksgiving break because her owner (Amy) brought her to the hunting camp we belong to, which is one of the places I went on break. I took this with a borrowed Canon Rebel T5 and I bumped up the saturation on just Duchess and the light of the entire photo. It could be better if she stood out a little more from the couch and her paws weren’t as blurry. But Duchess is precious and I want a dog like her someday.

Yara A.- Sunsets

This is a picture of the sunset that I took around August at Tip Top Grill, using my phone camera. I edited the picture by adding more contrast using the photo editing options on the Mac computer. The picture, however, would look better if I had taken the pic from a different angle. Other than that, the final result of the picture ended up looking nice.

Yovani T -Stephanie

The place where I took the photos was the lunchroom at HHS about 2 weeks ago. I took the picture with an IPhone 8 plus. I Lightened the picture a little bit. Also Removed some of the wrinkles and hairs. In my opinion I feel like the picture could be better if it had more color.

Savy G- Blood Sun

This picture doesn’t have a title, but if it were to have one it would be “red sun”. This was taken at the hoover soccer fields. I was taking pictures of my friends playing soccer and the sun was going down with a pretty sunset. This was taken with a canon rebel T6. I edited it by making it a little more orange. it could be better if there wasn’t that much clouds. I also like this picture because of the birds in the top left corner.
