Stephanie P- London

I took this picture from the London Eye on my trip to London at the beginning of the year. I enhanced the color, because it was a cloudy day so the picture was kind of foggy. Enhancing the color made that go away. I also enhanced the red to make the buses stand out a little more.

Jay J- American Flag

This picture is of the American flag. I took it in my math class. This picture was for the color assignment. I enhanced the picture and used auto contrast. Also I used a filter from the artistic section which was dry brush.

Ryan T- Apple

I took this picture while eating lunch.  This has to be the best picture I ever shot; and edited for my color red project.  I desaturate the picture to make the only red apple stand alone in this picture.  When I showed this picture to my friends; the first thing that comes to their mind is the book "Twilight".  But that's not what comes to my mind about this picture.  Just a very cool red apple in the stand alone art picture.

Madhukar M - Formal Portrait

I took this picture as part of the portrait assignment, as a formal picture. I took it in the courtyard at our school early in the morning. There was plenty of sunlight, allowing a really nice background. I like the shadows and feel that they complement my subject well. However, I feel that parts of the picture were too dark, while others were too light. I may go back and take out some of the modifications I made.

Robert C- Matroshka

This is a picture of a Matroshka i took this in my back yard on some construction material. I took this picture for my about me assignment I really like how this picture turned out. I think it could have been better if I had less glare on the Mmatroshka This represents me because I lived in Russia for the past 10 years.

Arisha l-Blue Tree

This picture is called "Blue Tree' because it was taken for my color project. This tree was outside in the back of school. I really liked how it was colored because it was next to the art hall. I made the background black and white because I wanted the tree to stand out. This picture really inspires me.

Emily A. -Nanan & Papaw

This is a picture of my grandparents that I took on a trail near their house. I photographed them for the portraits assignment. They are such a blessing and this picture captures everything I love about them. I edited this picture by cropping it closer to them and taking a good bit of the wall out. I also enhanced the colors in the leaves and added contrast to the picture.

Danny J - Reflection in Car Window

This picture of a window reflection was taken by a dock on Mobile Bay after I was taking pictures for the reflection assignment. To edit it, I increased the contrast and darkened it to get a silhouette of my dad. I cropped out a pillow in the top-left corner to better center my dad and remove things in the car.  I like the sky in the background and the unnatural silhouette of my dad. I wish I could have avoided including the stuff inside the car.

Ashley P- Leaf Heart

I took this picture one night when my friends and I were trying to build a fire, but weren't being very successful. I was sent to pick up leaves and found one shaped as heart, so of course I took a picture! I took it using my iPhone and for editing it I sharped and deepened the color on the leaf; then turned everything but the leaf black and white and blurred it all.

Emily B- Pink Rose

This is a photo of one of the roses that my boyfriend got for me! I took this on my iPhone and edited in Adobe Photo Shop. I boosted the contrast, increased the saturation, and brightened the exposure a little bit! I really love the way it turned out!

Brian M- During School

I took this picture at school  during lunch. all  did was made the picture balck and white except for the tree and bushes

David M- Moss

The title of this photo is 'Moss'.  This photo is actually the roots of a tree that are protruding from the ground.  I took the photo around 5 o'clock at South Shades Crest Elementary one weekend.  I edited the photo by adjusting the saturation of the red in the roots and painting the moss green.  I also adjusted the levels of the photo and painted black around the pine straw to soften the contrast.  Overall, I am really happy with this photo and I like how focused everything is in the picture.

Dkota W-Christmas Day

This is a picture of the Christmas tree in my house. I chose this picture for the Photo Blog because I think it is a good picture and it has a good memory behind it. I named this picture "Christmas day" because it was taken on Christmas day of 2011. I simply took this picture on my phone. When edited i made the image sepia and sharpened it some.

Emily W- Flower Power

I took this picture at my Uncle David's during Thanksgiving. He has this huge garden with tons of plants. I got close and took pictures of his flowers. The flowers might be roses, but I'm not entirely sure.

Haley Y-Mountain Range

I took this picture in Organ, of a mountain range. I really like how you can see the contrast of the deep green and the white mountain tops. I did not do much to edit this image, I lightened the green and made the blues darker.

Jenna O - Powdered Sugar Goodness

I took this picture on Thanksgiving. It's my mothers homemade pumpkin roll. I love the composure and the detail of the powdered sugar on the plate that you can see. I only boosted the contrast. I could have gotten a straighter picture of the roll.

Brianna B- Tree

This is a picture of a tree in my yard that I took. I edited this picture in Photoshop and made different pieces of the bark on the tree different colors to make them darker so they could stand out. At first the picture was very dull and the tree was very boring. I enhanced the grass and bark separately and not together. The background of the house behind the tree was left in Black & White to keep the picture different.

Catherine S- Jennifer

I took this picture of Jennifer for the portrait assignment. I like the way her hair looks in this picture due to the sun and the wind.

Daniel L- Pocketwatch

This is a picture of my grandfathers pocket watch. It was taken at my house. I rotated and faded the image.

Ashley V- Red Leaves

I love this picture because its pretty, the color and descriptive detail is cool. It was the first leaf to change colors on my tree in my back yard and I thought it was intriguing to see this because the rest of the tree turned out to change colors to a orange yellow color. I blurred the background and cropped it. I didn't really enhance it much because the leaf was already bright. I didn't crop all the background because if I did it wouldn't look realistic and living so I showed the blurred tree and branch.

Jessica P- Sophie

This is a picture that I took over Thanksgiving break of my dog, Sophie.  I wish I had not cut her tail out when I took it, but still think she's cute.  I edited it by increasing the brightness a little and lowering the level of cyan.

Jennifer L- Shipwrecked

This picture was taken when I was in Savannah Georgia. I took this picture through the inside of a window. I like how the window likes up with the pole of the ship. I changed the saturation and boosted the contrast.

Anissa L- Life of a Tree

This tree is a tree from inside the Hoover courtyard. I tried really hard to not make it obvious that it was from the courtyard, which is why it has the angle that it has. I've always enjoyed how the trees look in the courtyard in October/November, and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to document it. I increased the hue and saturation in this picture and I also tried to make the limbs in focus, but I realized that my main subject was the leaves. I also used the selective color feature in photoshop to make the reds come out more.

Alex D - Leaf

I took this picture in my back yard on a sunny day. I made it a little darker and applied a curve layer.

Andie C - Twins

I took this picture at Moss Rock Preserve with some twins, over thanksgiving break. I titled it twins because thats who they are and it's really hard to tell the two of them apart, typically. I edited the colors and made them stand out more, and to make the background fade some.

Ashley C- Don't Worry Be Happy

I took this picture of my glass of water at Flip Burger from over the summer.  I really like how positive effect it gives off.  I edited it on Photoshop by adjusting the curves, levels, and sharpening it.

Amelia S- Roommates

This is a photo of my sister Eleanor and her roommate Lauren. I like this picture because it really shows both of their personalities. I edited this picture by turning it black and white and painting the color back in the photo where it was red. If I could change one thing, I would change the location of the picture so it would not have the bikes and trashcan in the background.

Danae A - Sarasota Sunset

I took this picture over Thanksgiving Break in Sarasota, FL for the Reflections project.
I increased the contrast and darkened the picture slightly.

Alyssa Y-Jones Soda Anonymous

I am oddly addicted to Jones Soda! For the pick a color assignment I happened to have some green soda in my fridge so I used that. I love how you can see the little piece of ferret hair on one of the bottles because every time I would try and take a picture  he would run up and knock down the bottles.

Alex E- Coke Bottles

I took this picture at Target when we had to take pictures for the color assignment. I ended up not using this because I decided to change more color. I like this because of the angle that I took the picture. I sharpened the picture, desaturated the picture a little, and added color to the caps of the coke bottles.

Abbey W- Ice, Ice Baby

This photo is called "ice ice baby". I took this photo last winter when it snowed. my friends and I were playing in the snow and a car was parked so i took the picture. The subject in this photo are the icicles. I really love the colors in this photo! I bumped up the saturation and messed with the layers some. I think this photo could be better if the icicles stood out more.

Amber A- Neglect

I took this picture of a neglected basketball in my backyard. I edited this image my adjusting the brightness. Additionally, I enhanced the color of the plant growing underneath the basketball. I like this picture because of the contrast of the light and dark areas of the image.

Andrew L - Soap

I used this for an "r" in my "Name with Pictures" assignment.  I took this photo on a sunny Sunday indoors, and I found good lighting, so I took the shot.  I really liked how it turned out.  With the lighting, paint, and photoshop color enhancements, the picture turned out really bright, sharp, and appealing for just a simple soap pump.  The contrast of the green and the orange makes the foreground and background stand separate which makes the picture stand out.

Hemin N.- Wooden House

This is a picture of the wooden block that is suppose to represent homes that are built in 3rd world country. I took the photo at Railroad Park in downtown Birmingham. I edited the image by cropping the background. Also, I changed the curve to make the picture darker. I used the sun as my natural light source. I think that this picture could have been better if my picture did not include my friend in the background. Also, I wish I had taken an ariel shot of the subject.

Zach C- Ready To Strike

I took this picture of my pet snake as she was moving around. I like how it looks like she's about to strike.

Matt A- NASCAR Race

This is a picture that I took at Talladega last month. It is a picture of the racetrack during driver introductions. I did not edit this picture, I did not really need to crop it and I thought the lighting was okay. I took this on my phone, so the focus is not perfect.

Ryan T- MPH gauge

This picture is the MPH/ gas gauges in my 2005 Toyota Celica car.  It was taken during the day early in the morning, plus this was part of my Night & Day project.  I enhanced and lighten the picture; and darken the picture a little.  I really like this picture; and the effects I did on this project.

Josh V- The Face of Halloween

This is a picture of an artificial pumpkin that I zoomed in on the mouth. I titled it "The Face of Halloween". This was a picture for the "Names with Pictures" assignment and it was my letter U. I consider it be my best image because I used my experience with the last assignment "Night and Day" to take this picture. I took this image from the top of my stairs just looking for letters of my name. I edited the image by getting rid of shadows with the stamp tool and by giving some layers to the image.

Victoria D- If I could go back in time I would

I took this picture in Lafayette Alabama where i was basically raised and spent most of my childhood years.  My family built this town back in like the 1800s.  I really like this picture just because when i look at it it takes me back.  I named in "if i could go back i would."  if i could change nothing about this photo i wish that it was more like focused and you could read the street signs.  I edited this picture by booting the contrast and boosting the highlights with more of a warmer feel then faded the color a little.

Ken C- Dusk

I took this last week  before i went to the game , i added a focal glim and darken the sides.

Emily W-My Little Cross

This a picture of the cross on top of this little wooden church we have outside our house. I loved this picture because of the beautiful color in the bushes. And I adjusted the contrast, levels, and the selective colors tool to bring out the bushes. It might be a bit better if there was a little more detail in the leaves.

Reginald K- Foggy And Cloudy Day

I took this picture one morning out side my house right before i went to school. it was really foggy as you can see and cloudy. For some reason, i really like this picture a lot. I think it looks pretty cool.

Nick E- The University of the South

I took this photo on my visit to Sewanee University. It's of the bell tower and dining hall. I edited it by saturating it and adjusting the shadows and highlights. I like the way the colors look as well as the bell tower in the background.

Tim H- House

I like this photo becouse it was my first edit in Photoshop ever.

Jordan M- Bird Bath

For this picture I took a picture of an old bird bath in my back yard. I liked the age and the character of it. I didn't do much to edit this, just increased the saturation a bit to bring out the greens and I slightly increased the contrast to show the lighting change at the bottom of the bird bath.

Mary L- Candle Reflection

This is a picture of a candle in a mirrors reflection. I took this picture for the night and day assignment. I really like how you can see the reflection and believe it turned out pretty.

Joerdan K- Burnout

This was originally taken as a apart of my Night & Day project one morning before school. The candle is actually lavender but after adjusting the brightness, contrast & saturation I messed around with the color and liked it best in this somewhat golden color. I really like how it turned out in the end.

Maia S- Molly

This is a photo of my cat molly she was sitting in the driveway and she hate cameras in her face so i was really happy when she let me get this close enough to take the photo. it could be better id=f the chair wasn't in the back ground.

Lakeshia.B - Light of the Land

Light of the Land was taken in a garden park. I just changed the levels , boosted the colors and used the cropped tool. I changed the contrast and played with the color levels to make some of yellows and greens.

Jennifer L- Pink Flower

I really like this picture. I took this one day in my front yard after school. I like how the pink in the photo stands out from everything else. But I think I could have focused in more on the flower itself. But overall I think this picture is good.
