Mariam T- Rose After it Rained (last post of this school year)

I took this picture of a rose after it rained. I didn’t do much editing to it except put a filter over it. This picture would be better if it was a little more sharp. The stems in the back are blurry.

Cami M- Magic City Sign

I took this picture for the architecture assignment. Its a picture of the magic city sign thats downtown. I took this picture sometime in March. Editing wise I turned the picture back and white then painted with red along the outside of the lettering to make it stand out more.

Caroline K- Car Sunset

This photo was taken one night after I went to eat with some of my friends. We were driving around and watching the sunset. I edited this using the Nik Collection but just a little bit. It could be better if there was not things in the way of the sunset. Other than that I like the way it looks.

Morgan G- Top of the world

I took this at the zoo. I took this with a Rebel T5 EOS camera. I like this one because the lizard thinks he is the top of the world. I did not change anything because I like it the way it is.

Yuliana Z.-Friends Under the Sea

I titled this photo “Friends under the sea”. I took this picture on the 10th of April at the Birmingham Zoo. The tank of fish typically went unnoticed by everyone. It was just a small space for small, boring fish. But I saw it as the perfect place to capture my favorite picture of the day. I used a PENTAX K200D as my camera for the day that was loaned to me. It helped me capture the beauty of this fish that was simply skipped over. I used the Nik Collections detail extractor and tonal contrast to edit the picture. It brought much more life in vibrance to the small fish. The detail extractor helped to enhance the scales. eyes, fins and lips tremendously. With the tonal contrast, it Brough more green shades to the body, and helped to see the small particles that surrounded the fish in the water. This picture made me proud that I notice the little things people ignore and that I can show the incredible beauty in places where others don’t even bother to look. I honestly loved the outcome of the picture, I don’t know how else I’d change it but I’d love to hear how you would.

Jahred T- Warm Embrace

This picture is named Warm Embrace. That’s all I got.

Jacob T- Strawberry Details

I called this picture Strawberry details. I took it at my house with my Canon Rebel T6. I edited it by increasing the color and sharpness. I think that is could be better if I had a macro lens so that I could get closer. I also think that I could have taken it from a better angle so I wouldn’t have to crop it in a weird way.

Mollie E- "Unwritten"

The title of this image is “Unwritten” because that is a song that I sing at camp which is where this photo was taken. I took this image on April 21st. To edit this picture I used the Color Efex tool from the Nik Collection and I edited the levels and curves. I think it could have been better if the leaves in focus didn’t look so similar to the leaves in the back.

Maura P- Washington Monument

I named the photo Washington Monument. I took this photo in DC while on the band trip in April. I took this photo on my iPhone 6 because I did not have my camera with me. I edited it by using the Auto Color and I like the way it turned out, so thats all I did. I really like this photo because of the reflection in the water. I wish the boat with the people was not there, that would have made it better.

Savy G- Snakey

This picture doesn’t really have a name. I took this at the Birmingham zoo in the reptile section. I edited this by darkening the picture a little bit. I also added a layer to make the eyes more red. I added detail on the scales to make them pop out more. I like this picture because the red eye really stands out and it looks like half of hoover high school. ;)

Zach F - Symmetry in the Church

This piece is titled “Symmetry in the Church”  I took it on April 13 in the church near UAB. I added a filter and cut out and object that stuck out, but otherwise I like this picture quite a bit. I think is a good expression of my growth over the year in terms of editing and shot composition, and I can only hope that my efforts will improve in college. Thanks for a good year.

Kam W- Hieroglyphic

The title of the photo is called Hieroglyphic. I took this photo last summer. I edited it by the Nik collection color effect pro.

Marshall H- Bird Tree

Bird Tree is my favorite image because I used the the lens blur to add some definition to the birds and the tree the birds are on from the background. I also really like the colors of the birds because they are very vibrant. It could have been edited better if I had brightened it up a little bit and reducing the whites to add more detail to the birds.

Hannah J- Greenhouse

This image is named Greenhouse. It was taken at Aldridge garden on the field trip with a Canon PowerShot. I edited it with a filter and by increasing the contrast and colors. It may be better if it were better quality.

Gabriel D- Meadow

This photo is called “Meadow” it was taken in late April on my property. It was taken with my iPhone 8 Plus. It is not edited, however I wish I had gotten a better lighting effect while shooting it.

Lauren B- Rosey

I call this photo Rosey and I edited it using a Nik filter, then a black and white layer. I painted the flower so it would still have color and then I overlaid a picture of some moss to create the splotches. I really like this photo because I think it looks artsy and the definition looks pretty good. I think the only thing I could have done was eliminate some of the shadow in the original moss picture so make the rose stand out a bit more.

Emily R- Play Time

The title of this picture is Play Time, Because the little monkey was rolling around in his bed. I took this at the Zoo with my Sony. I darkened the picture took a post out of the back and lightened his eyes. Overall, I like how this picture turned out.

Danielle M - Lookout

The title of this picture is “Lookout”. I took it in Eufaula, Alabama while taking pictures of local alligators. This bird was truly fearless of any people or other animals and I loved the way it looked out and acknowledged its surroundings. The picture was taken with my Nikon D5100. I edited by sharpening it and adding a color filter to increase the intensity of the picture.

Hayden H- Humpback

This photo is titled Humpback. This is a picture of a Camel that I took at the Birmingham Zoo.I took it with a Nikon D7100 and an 80-200mm 2.8 lens. I bumped up the saturation, brightness, and clarity. I would not do anything different to this photo

Carson R - The Long Road

This image is entitled “The Long Road” as it reminds me of the album by Nickelback. This was taken last summer in St. George Island with my Nikon d3400. I edited this by bringing up the contrast a lot and brightening the image. I also used the Color Efex Nik Collection and used a few filters there to increase the saturation and decrease the sharpness. I think it could be better if there wasn’t a bright orange/red spot above the horizon on the left side of the image.

Mia R- One With Nature

This is a composite I made like 5 minutes ago. It has three different photos in it and all were taken with a Canon. I edited it by making the picture with the trees darker and the one with my friend sophie lighter.

Grace B- Pathway

I named this image “Pathway.” I tool this picture in Hawaii about 2 weeks before Spring Break. This was taken with my iPhone because I had forgotten my camera in the hotel. I increased the saturation and added more color. I really love this picture and I think it turned out really well.

Will C- Summer Night Nostalgia

This picture is called Summer Night Nostalgia, because even though this picture was taken a couple weeks ago it was night with my friend that gave me the feeling of summer and makes me excited for school to be out. We got on top of the Galleria parking deck next to Von Maur where you aren’t supposed to go but I mean us, being the complete and total bad bois that we are, got up there anyways and watched the sun set. John is standing in a puddle of water that had formed after it rained and the water reflected the sunset and I think ended up looking pretty cool. To edit all I did was make the image a little brighter to make the colors pop more. I just like this picture because it reminds of good times with my buds that we’ve had and will have to come.

Will C- Flower Hill

This image is called Flower Hill. I took on flower hill with Ashley(who is pictured) and we were chilling just listening to music. To edit I just made it a little more vibrant and then cropped it so it was more focused on her. I wish the image was maybe just a bit sharper, but for me I really like how it turned out.

Presley G- Floating

I titled this image “Floating”. I took this picture on my iPhone 7 plus. I took this picture at a pond in Botanical gardens. To edit this image I darkened the perimeter. I also made the leaf a little more orange by decreasing the light. To make this photo better I would get it a little more focused.
