Riley Y - Pictorialist

The name of this picture is “Pictorialist” because it was my first attempt at the exercise we did in class. I took this picture in my house for the night and day assignment. I took it with my Cannon PowerShot S5 IS. I edited the photo by using a mixture of the charcoal, stamp, and poster edges filters. It might be better if I had manipulated the filters better to not make the wall behind the violin disappear.

the picture appears to be focused well although i wish the strings were visible al the way up the violin.
The shot is centered and I think it works well with the way you framed it although I would have preferred if it was on the left side and angled to the right. I like the photo because its simple yet effective.

I love this photo! I actually like how the wall was faded out, I think it makes the contrast even cooler! Really really good job!

I really like this picture. The focus of the image is really sharp. I think that because the image is so sharp that when you put the pictorialist filter on the image it had a great outcome. I also like how the instrument is in the middle of the frame. The grainy effect looks really nice in the picture. Overall this is a really neat image. I would hang this on my wall.

I think this image is pretty cool. I like that it seems to be balanced, which I guess is because it was balanced in reality. I like the contrast between the effect on the instrument and the white background. The filter provides a cool effect, and the grain really does give detail to it. Overall, I think you did a good job.

This photo caught my eye because I didn’t realize it was a pictorialist image at first. The lines of the violin are nice to look at especially because of the while background. This image is simple and puts a lot of focus on the violin which I like. The positioning of the violin isn’t straight in the center, its a little off to the side. I would have liked to see the violin a little clearer, but the edit that is on it now is not bad either. good job!

I really like this photo!!! It looks like it could almost be a tattoo or maybe a stamp. When I first saw this picture I legit thought you found it off the internet but wow!!! 10/10 I would get it tattooed on me if i played violin.
