Matthew W.- Weekend Warrior

I named this photo “Weekend Warrior” because I took it on a weekend vacation with my friend up in Mentone Alabama. I took this photo about 2-3 hours before sunset with my Nikon D80, and I did not edit it. I could have made this picture better by focusing more on the first foot.

Really unique picture. Love the shallow depth of field really helps focus on the grass and feet. The lighting is a yellowish soft cast and brings out the foreground. I honestly really like the balance throughout the photo, it really gives off an appealing photo. Overall really nice picture.

Magical Picture! I like how the sharp depth of field makes the viewer focus on the overhang and the person on the left. The depth of field also blurs the background which adds to the effect of oblivion at the end of the cliff. The rule of thirds is used effectively by positioning the feet and legs on the left third of the screen. This gives the legs room to continue on the path. Diagonals are also used effectively with the use of the overhang crossing the screen with a diagonal line. This image captivates my attention with how magical and fairy tale like the setting is. The image appears to tell a story similar to Peter Pan and Tinker Bell.

This picture is really cool. I like how the picture isn't overexposed, but it also isn't underexposed either. I like the colors in the picture and how they aren't too bright or too dark. I like how some areas are darker and more in the shadows compared to areas that are brighter because those are the areas that bring out the picture. Overall, I like this picture and would definitely hang on my wall simply just because I like the way it looks and how you didn't have to edit it to make it look better.

Matthew, you did a fantastic job taking this photo! I’ve seen you use this photo as your desktop background in class, so I’ve always admired it. I like how the lighting from the sun enhances not only the ridges and dips of the moss, but also the hair of the person’s feet. The scene kind of gives me a The Hobbit/The Lord of the Rings vibe in my opinion. I would agree with what you said about how the picture could have been better by focusing more on the first foot in regard to framing. I feel the foot, despite how good it still looks, is a bit cut off and could look better if the feet were fully in the shot, but that could also detract from the appearance of the moss. I would certainly consider this photo a keeper due to how pretty it is. I feel it would serve greatly as a framed photo or, as I often see you use it, a desktop background. You did a great job!

I really like this image. I love how you took the image up high and the image is focused on the grass and the feet. I also like how the background is a little dark and the front of the image is bright. Alex D- HHS

Great Picture! I do agree with you that it would be better if you focused more on the first foot, but the picture has a lot of depth to it. The edge of the moss is a good leading line in the picture and it defines the areas and subject of the image. I really like this photo and it makes me want to go adventure.
