Emily B-Fingerprint

This picture was taken in my room after it caught on fire; my sister was drawing on my walls where all the smoke damage is and her fingers were covered in black soot. I used a portable light to create a shadow on her finger. I boosted the contrast and bumped up the exposure. If i could change anything about this image, i would brighten up the front fingerprint more.HP

This really is a great picture. It is so powerful looking. It looks like it has emotion built into it which is really cool. Anyone can take a picture, but it takes talent to make someone feel something while they look at the image. I like how close it is, but I feel it is a little washed out with the extreme whites on the fingers.

Emily B.,
This is a really nice photo. I agree with everything she said above. There is emotion in the picture and I like how you edited it Black & White. It really makes the picture better.

This is a really cool picture and it caught my eye right away! I love how you edited the shadows and exposure, it really gives the image a cool effect. I also like how you only got one full finger in the picture and two more in the background. It maybe could have been better if you lightened the fingertip like you said and maybe made the lines of the fingerprint stand out more! Good job though!!

I like how you chose black and white! It looks dark and sorrowful. So sorry about your room! Way to make a beautiful image from destruction!

This is such a beautiful, sad photo! I love how the wall has so much texture to it. I also really like how you can see the ridges on the finger themselves. I agree that the only thing that should be changed was make the front of the fingers a little brighter.

I really like this picture. I agree with what was said above about the emotion in the picture. I really love the really dark blacks and the really pure whites. This is a great picture!

The balance of light and dark areas in this photograph is pretty good. I especially like how the lighter areas are focused in the middle of the pictures with the edges gradually getting darker because it focuses the attention to the fingers. The sharper focus of the picture works really well to capture the detail in the fingerprints, which adds a little more texture to the picture. Overall, I like this photo because of the higher contrast and drama of the picture.

Emily,

What a beautiful shot! I love the emotion that this photograph captures as it tells your story. The shadows, lighting, and texture work perfectly together! There isn't anything that I would really change about it. Maybe if you sharpened your sister's finger tip, but it looks great how it is right now!

Well done!

Amazing picture! I really like how you edited this picture so it could turn out so good. It has great focus and I like how it's black & white - it makes it stand out more. The lighting also looks great, I just think it could have been better if it didn't have to much lightning. Other than that, this picture looks awesome. Great job and this picture would totally be a keeper!

Emily,
This Picture is so amazing! I agree with everyone else. This is a wonderful image of the way you edited it, but also the angle. I also agree with Reed, from every destruction you have to see the light. With this you did. Im sorry about your room, but you made a beautiful picture out of destruction. Very wonderful!

This is cool because you can see her lines in her fingerprint. It is a photo with a lot of drama and emotion. You were very creative to think to take a picture of her hands. I also love how the left corner fades to black.

I really like this picture. There is so much detail and you can really see her fingerprints. The lighting is perfect so that you can really see her print. The picture almost seems to tell a story too and seems really powerful, like it should evoke some sort of emotion out of you. Great picture!

I love this picture! The detail is amazing! I love how you can see the detail of the rings on her fingers and on the table. The black and white edit makes it look even better.

Nice Picture! I love almost everything about it! The wrinkles on the finger to the right go really well with the black and white theme. I think you did a great job with the lighting; the way different parts of the table are light up is nice. The only thing I would have changed is trying to fill in the hole off to the top left. Maybe move the hand so the table fills it up.

This is a really cool picture. I think that the fact that it's in black and white makes it look so much better. The enhanced shadows around the edges really makes the fingerprint stand out. It's really close up and focused so the image is precise. The angle is great and overall i love this picture!

The subject matter is so unique, and I think that adds to the interest of the photo. My favorite part are the details in the fingerprints. I think since it's black and white it makes the composition interesting. Good work.

This is absolutely beautiful! I like how the fingerprints have so much detail, and I love the black and white coloring of it! The lighting also looks like it's perfect for the subject. I also think that the cropping could be smaller, but it actually gives more depth to the photo. I think once your room is fixed, you should frame this and put it on your wall :) great job!

This is a really great photo. I love the use of black and white, it brings out a lot of detail. The whites on the fingers do seem a bit washed out though. Other than that everything is great.

This is a great picture. I like how you made it black and white, it makes the photo look old and antique. I also like how you can see the detail in her finger tip.

Emily,
I think this picture is so cool. I like how you you placed the light on one side of her hand instead of using the light to light up her whole hand. I love all the detail you captured in her fingers and in the background.
