Grace A- Castle

The title of this image is Castle, and was taken in downtown Birmingham at St. Paul’s Cathedral on March 20, 2022. It was taken with a Nikon D50. I edited this by using the burn and sponge tools and lowering the contrast, along with the vibrance, highlights, and increased the shadows. A filter from the Nik collection was added, and so was a bokeh blur to the edges. It could be better if the frame was filled with more of the castle and there wasn’t so much empty space.

I really like your picture! I like how it is eerie and has a haunted look to it. I also am a big fan of architecture because I love all of the detail. However, I do wish that the overall building was brighter and more in focus. I also wish that the very top of the building was in focus and not blurred out. I do still like the picture and could see it hanging in a museum of some sort!

Firstly. I think what you did to the focus of the photo is a good idea. It's blurry on the edges and gets sharper when it gets closer to the center, which put emphasis on the cathedral. I also like the framing of the subject; nothing important is cut out. My favorite thing about what you did is the vignette. Overall, good job!

I love this picture! I enjoy the softer tone of it and how it gives off a bit of a nostalgic feeling. The framing is great as well, great use of rule of thirds. This also would have worked If there was a lot of color, but I really like this direction a lot better.

I love this image. I love all the neutral and gray tones. I love the shadowing and blur in the corners. I think less blur would have focused the attention more on the architecture itself. Overall, a really beautiful photo.

This is a really great image. The color and mode of this image fits very well with the castle theme. I fell as though the picture would look right if it was more colorful especially at the angle it was taken at. The softness of the focus and the darkness really draws your view to the center of the image. Actually leaving so much empty space helps the image breathe, and makes it not too busy to the viewers eye. The empty space gives your image a unique look.

I really like shadow filter from the Nik collection you applied to the image, also really liked the way you used the rule of thirds to crop the image. I think you could have added a little more vibrance to the tower and then leave the background grey (or visa versa) but overall great picture of the cathedral tower.

Wow this is a really great image, I love all the gray and neutral tones it goes with the theme really well, I also really love the angle in which you took the image and how soft the image looks and how it really draws you to the center of the image, really well done!
