Ellie B- Night at the Game

  The title of my image is “Night at the Game”. It was taken on August 20th, 2024 at the Met. It was taken with my phone. I retouched some of the spots and enhanced the color slightly. It could be better if I cropped it better. I took this picture of my friend at dusk.

Emily C- Silhouette

This photo is named “silhouette. This was taken at my neighborhood park in October. I took this photo on my Canon camera. When editing this all I did was lower the exposure so the tree and leaves would really pop. To make this image better i would increase the vibrance so the sunset could pop even more. 

 

Nora M- Bikes

The title of my image is Bikes. This photo was taken in Florida during the summer of 2023. I took this photo with an Iphone 13 pro. I edited this picture by increasing the exposure, vibrance, and saturation. I feel like this photo could be better if I took it at a better angle.

 

Daniel K- Capitol

 This image is called “Capitol” and I took it while we stopped in Tallahassee coming back from Sarasota sometime during this past summer (don’t remember the exact date, though). I used this image for an assignment a while back, so I don’t quite remember all the details of editing, but I know I adjusted lighting with saturation, brightness, luminance, etc as well as added slight color grading and some sharpening. The image could be better if I were to remove certain elements such as the building in the back or the sign out front but I hadn’t yet learned how to do so at the time of editing. Also, if I had visited at a different time, there wouldn’t be that ugly green-ish fence around the building; they were going through some construction when I took the picture. 

Lily D - Baseball Field Sunset

This image is called “Baseball Field Sunset.” It was taken at my brother's baseball tournament around May. It was taken with an iPhone 15 pro. I edited it by turning up the vibrance and exposure. It could be better if I took off the dust filter and made it look less edited. 

 

Kais C- Aspired Mirror

 Aspired mirror, I took it in my house upstairs of a mirror my parents put up. I took the picture all of them with my iphone 13 pro. I added multiple photos onto this that I’ve taken before with the phone i added them all blending them together.I would change how abrupt it changes and also how bright the colors are.

Irais B-C - Mystic Dreamscape

This image combines four photos taken in different locations on my iPhone 16. The main one, being the background is originally a picture of my bedroom with my lights on. The one on top is the shadow of my partner. The jellyfish inside the shadow are from a lamp I have, and the one on top is a picture of the sky. I edited them all by defining the colors and saturating them. I also used some filters from the filter gallery and smudged the background. I feel that I could’ve made it better by defying the shape of the shadow some more and making the jellyfish fit inside. And maybe I should've made the opacity lighter in the sky picture. Other than that I like the way the colors and picture in general turned out.

Mazzy C- Bridge

 This photo is titled Bridge. It is a picture I took while walking with my friend on a bridge in Homewood. It was taken on February 1st, 2025. I like this picture because of the colors and I think the lighting is cool. I did not edit this picture but I think it would be better if I did. I would have maybe brightened it up a little. 

Hayden C - Winkie Face!!

 The title of this image is “Winkie Face!!” It was taken on February 6 with my canon camera. It was taken at the barn I work at and it of a lesson pony named Buttercup. It was taken later in the day when the sun was starting to go down, giving everything that golden color that everyone loves. I was attempting to get her ears forward to take a cute photo, but I was struggling until this moment and didn’t find out until later that she had one eye closed. At first I didn’t like it and thought it’d ruined the photo but I quickly fell in love with the funny face. I edited the photo by deepening the shadows and bringing down the highlights, along with making everything warmer. Her eyes water a lot, making the corners of them look gunky and gross, so I edited out that too along with brightening the iris of her only visible eye.

Chloe C- Evil Kitty

This picture is titled, “Evil Kitty”. I took this picture while visiting a pet store and spotted this cat. I felt like he was judging me, so I decided to make that more evident in this picture. I took this picture with my phone camera. I mainly edited it by making the image all black and white (ish), but keeping and highlighting on its green eyes. I like the picture, but I probably should have made the yellow back wall black and white as well. Besides that, I like this picture a lot!

 

Kaitlyn W - God's Creation

 The title of the is God's Creation, I took from my backyard. This picture didn't take to much to edit it. I just concentrated the trees to make them look thicker. I also cropped out my neighbors house to just focus on the scenery.

Jaxson L- Correct Perspective

 I got the name from when I did the project. It was taken on July 4th in 2023 on my iPhone 14. I made it so the lights are more controlled but turn up the sharpness to make it so the fireworks pop more. I could have removed the car a little more.

Finley B- Look Up

 This artwork is titled “Look Up.” It merges three distinct photographs from my Composite Assignment. The primary image was captured in my neighborhood during the summer using my Nikon camera. I carefully edited it to ensure that each photo was visible while maintaining a sense of realism. There were opportunities to brighten certain areas to enhance the overall impact of the image.

Reagan M - Colorful Capture

The title of this photo is “Colorful Capture”. This picture was taken outside in my backyard. It was taken with an iPhone 11. I edited this image by taking three separate photos. I then combined them by erasing the edges to make the pieces fit together. It could be better if the pool of bubbles blended better with the background.

 

Calliope T- Sunset

 This picture is titled “Sunset” and it was taken on Orange Beach on December 29th, 2024. I took it with my phone. I did not edit this picture, but I could have made the colors more vibrant. I think the picture would be better if It was cropped a little more and did not have the dunes in the picture. 

Lamon J- Retail Worker

 Since I caught a retail worker in this photo, I named this portrait “Retail Worker.” (very creative I know). I was in Von Maur at the mall when I saw this guy. I thought his outfit was pretty cool so I got a candid shot. Unfortunately, I couldn’t work up the courage to get closer to sneak a shot of his whole outfit, so this is the best I could do. The edit here is a bit experimental of what I usually do, but I actually kinda like how it came out. Very artistic. 

Maddie B- Tinted Portrait

 This picture is called Tinted Portrait. It’s a picture of me in my backyard. I set up my camera with a tripod and used the timer on it to take the picture. I edited it by making the picture black and white and then re-coloring parts of it by hand, so it looks kind of faded and softer compared to the original. It could possibly be better if I added a little more color to some of the plants in the background.

 The photo I selected is called Melody. I took it in the photography shoot room on November 8, 2024, using my iPhone 14. The setup allowed for precise control over lighting, which contributed to the clean and professional appearance of the shot. During editing, I focused on lightening all the dark spots to enhance the image’s clarity and detail, ensuring that the subject stood out more prominently. If I were to improve this photo further, I might experiment with adjusting the contrast and saturation to bring out richer colors or add a subtle vignette to draw more attention to the subject. Additionally, considering different angles or adjusting the placement of the light source could have added more depth and dimension to the photo. Overall, this image reflects a thoughtful balance of technical precision and creative vision, and it was an enjoyable piece to work on.

Maggie P - Happy Birthday

 I took this photo for a birthday party gig back in November. I re-edited the photo just now to improve the values and color grading cause I wasn’t as good at editing as I am now. I used blending modes and masks to darken the background a little bit and make sure the subject popped. I also made sure to let the pinks stay nice and vibrant without fully washing over the photo.

Samantha M - Side Eye

 This image was dubbed “Side Eye” from someone sitting next to me and I think it really captures how much malice my cat conjures at his dinner time. He never is happy whether he is eating or sleeping, and is always on the wrong side of every door (like the rum tum tugger). I still love him all the same though. This picture was taken as he was waiting for the hole in his bowl to be filled. I got up in his face with my iPhone and it did a really good job of capturing how much he despises me. I removed my mother from the picture because it looked like his diaper was getting changed instead of his dinner getting poured into his bowl. His contempt look perfectly describes that no matter how tall I am, he will always be taller. What a goofy cat. His name is Blitz.

This photo was taken on my iphone 14 pro I edited the sunset saturation and the vibrance on the rocks and used curves to add a darker look to it. I took this in Maplesville Alabama with my friends i went there for my friends birthday and we went on some train tracks

The name of the picture is snow bro because he is a snowman who is my bro man. It was taken in my backyard when it snowed around the morning. I took it on a pixel 7 and it was only cropped and I could have gotten a better angel

 This photo is called “Birds in a Tree.” this photo was taken at my house on December 5, 2023, this photo was taken with an iPhone 13. I did not edit it at all, i don't think it could be better I like the way is.

Mary Alex R- Thinking

 This is a picture of my little sister looking at something and “Thinking”. I took this picture in my room with my Nikon D5100 this past weekend. I did a lot of editing to this picture by lowering the saturation, adding vignette, reducing the noise, lowering the curves, lowering the contrast, and sharpening some parts of her hair. It could’ve definitely been better if the background was more visually appealing. 

Xenon S - Feminist Literature

The title of this image is Feminist Literature. It was taken on January 21, 2025 in the Hoover Public Library with my Canon EOS R100. When I edited the photo I increased the exposure, contrast, shadows, and blacks. I decreased the highlights, whites, and clarity. I also cropped it a bit and darkened the colorful books in the background on the left. I think that the position of the subject and the amount of the book that is shown could be changed to bring a different meaning to the photo. I also don’t love the placement of the colorful books in the background on the left, as they feel distracting. I really like this photo and the focus on the book in the foreground. The way that the subject in the background is blurred really makes this photo very enticing to me.

 

Victoria S- Black & White Record

This picture is called Black & White Record. It was taken at my house on October 23, 2024. It was taken with my iPhone. I edited it by decreasing the brilliance and increasing the exposure. As my final touch, I added a black and white filter over the photograph. I think it could have been better if I dusted off the record before taking a picture of it, but I also think it gives it a cool effect and almost resembles stars in the night sky.

The Title of this image is Cold and Nonchalant. It was taken at Florence UNA around early December. It was taken with a smartphone I edited this image by making the fog look more visible and adding more of a meek tone. It could be better if the angles were different but it’s fine.

The photo was taken with my phone which is an iphone 11.i edited in photoshop with the camera raw filer and ,oved around a couple of things like the temperature and tint and vibrance.it could be better if the lights on top wouldn't have been flashy.

 This image is called “Retro”. This photo was taken this past summer when I went to my Aunts house in florida. This photo was taken on my canon camera. With this photo I lowered the vibrance and made the photo look more like it was taken in the 2000s. To make this photo better I would try to take the picture more in focus. 

Kaitlyn W - No Cares

 This picture was taken in my backyard. It was a hot Sunday afternoon, my dog in the picture Teddy was very tired. I edited this picture using and manipulating the shadows to my liking. Manipulating the light source to make my dogs and the grass turn to be more vibrant. But I feel like I could have added back a bit more sun to the picture.

This is a picture of my cat that was taken in my living room over the long weekend. It was taken with a $30 digital camera that I got off amazon. I edited it by adjusting the saturation, tint, and vibrance. It would be better if it was taken on a camera that actually has good quality. 

 

Joshua N- Nahla

 This photo was taken of my dog, Nahla. I took it with a Nikon D5100 on my side porch in August. I only made the picture clearer, and sharpened it to try and see her head more. I didn’t do much else, only adding a slight cool filter. I wish that my camera had focused on her eyes instead of her ears, because her face is blurry. That is the only thing I would change, but I really like this picture.

 The title of this image is Atlanta. This image was taken at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on May 28, 2024. This photo was taken with an Iphone 13 pro. I edited this photo by using the dodge tool over any area where there is bright light to make it brighter. I think this photo could be better if I made the blue and red stand out more.

Jaxson L- Childhood Pond

This photo is named Childhood Pond because this was the pond I would go up to and play as a kid. This photo was taken in Layton Utah. I used my Iphone 14 to take this photo. I turned up the saturation so you could see the clouds better and have the snow pop out more. I also turned down the brightness so it pops out more. I could have made it a little brighter. I took this when I was visiting family in Utah in December.

 

Angel M- Ornament

 I took this picture in December before Christmas. It was taken with a Canon camera. I edited this picture by increasing the saturation because in the original the colors looked dull. This image would have been better if the background was a little bit darker so the viewer could focus more on the ornament and light.

The title of my image is just called valentines and it was taken in the trunk of a car at the mall deck parking lock. This picture was taken on January 16, 2025. This picture was taken on an iphone. It was taken on another phone by me. I edited the brightness and edited the brightness of the whole picture and of the cow stuffed animal and the flowers. It could be better if there was more light and if the poster had a light shinning to it.

 

Anna G- TV Girl Portrait

 The title of this image is “TV Girl Portrait”. This was taken at night in December in my backyard. This photo was taken with my Nikon D5100 camera. I edited this image by changing the color of the light shining behind me and on my face. I also used an analog filter to reflect the colors of the face in the corner. I think this photo could be better if the lights in the corner were more blurred and transparent because I wanted them to look more like northern lights and less like the face.

Ethan S - Negative

 This image is entitled ‘Negative’. I took this in my bedroom at my mother’s house about a year or so ago with my Sony Mavica. I did not edit it, surprisingly. The filter effect is an integral function of the camera. I think it could be better  if it was a little more focused on the shelf without need of cropping. Enjoy.

Sarah S - Eggy

 This image is titled “Eggy’. I took it in Mr. Rigsby’s studio somewhere in October 2024, with my IPhone 14. The editing process is very specific: First, I applied a static filter over the original image. After that, I used a filter that saturates the colors and makes everything look like little cut out shapes. This resulted in a lot of tiny, different colored shapes forming around the background of the image. Finally, I applied ANOTHER static filter over that, which amplified everything even more and defined the shadows. I don’t think I could’ve made this image any better, as I am proud of the colors and placement of the eggs.

Montana T- Faith

This photo is called “Faith”, I took this in my room with my bible and my cross necklace. I edited this photo by lowering the exposure and dodging some parts of the necklace. I like how this photo came out and I think it would’ve been better if I had a good background to go with it, but other than that I love it!

 I took this picture with my phone in Colorado, and I edited the brightness a little bit, and made the image a little clearer. I could’ve maybe darkened it a bit more.

Rachel S- Cat

 This picture is titled “Cat.” It was taken up in Springville over Christmas break. I dont love the murky colors of the sky and ground but I think the beautiful orange of the cat contrasts it. I edited this picture by cropping it so that the cat was more central. I am proud of this picture but compliments to the model because she really did all the work. 

Caroline S- Kiersten

The title of my image is “Kiersten” because that is who is in the picture and it was taken at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It was taken with my phone and I edited it by turning up the brightness and exposure which I probably did too much. To improve this photo, I would turn down the exposure.

 

Daniel K- Snowy Day

 I titled this image “snowy day”. It was taken through my window last week during Hoover’s snow day. It was taken with my phone and I edited it by dehazing along with increasing clarity as well as some color adjustments to give it a blue tone. I could’ve done better with the editing by removing the little light blotches from the window’s glass and I could’ve done better with the photo itself to make sure it wasn’t so incredibly grainy, which was what resulted in the editing outcome looking rather flat. I could have stuck with the grain to avoid this however in my mind it took away from the photo more than it added. 

Lily D- Sunset Road

This image is called “Sunset Road”. It was taken around the summer time on the road. It was taken with my iPhone 15 pro. I edited it by turing up the vibrance and turning down the exposure. It could be better if there was more focus on the sun and the sky and less on the cars and street. 

 

Rachel N - Way Home

 It was taken on 9, January 2025 when I was on the way home, thus the title of the photo. It was taken with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I played with the settings, most of it, I played with the hue. It could’ve been better if I cleaned the cars or zoomed it in since I’m focusing on the sunset.
