Samantha M - Rackigans
This picture, titled “Rackigans”, a play on the word “hooligans”, was taken at the Hoover Band’s first BOA performance this competitive season after the band had made finals and was waiting for their results. After being put in a single file line, the picture shows members of the percussion rack group very not in a line, acting goofy because it was 10:45pm and we were ready to go home since we had been going for 15 hours straight. It was taken from my iPhone and in a rush because the rack boys were moving around quickly (they are hard to capture because of their erratic sense of energy and spontaneous silly poses). It did not help that our environment was dark out so the phone had to work a little harder for a fuzzy picture. Taking this differently I would have kept my hand a little more still so movement would not have been a part of the thing the phone was working against. I edited this with crop and a bring down in warmth. To me, these three convey what band is supposed to be about - having fun and living life together.

i like the movement in this photo and the expression of everyone in it. although I do wish they were able to spread out a bit more and fill in the kind of awkward gap in the bottom left. over all i love the upbeat vibe the entire photo has
