This image is titled “Rainbow Reach”. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on April 16th. I took this photo on myCanon EOS Rebel T7. I brightened up the bird to bring out the vibrant colors on the bird because it was a little darker before. Although, maybe I still could have brightened it a bit more. The zoo was so fun and I wish I could go again.

Kendal R- Rainbow Reach
This image is titled “Rainbow Reach”. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on April 16th. I took this photo on myCanon EOS Rebel T7. I brightened up the bird to bring out the vibrant colors on the bird because it was a little darker before. Although, maybe I still could have brightened it a bit more. The zoo was so fun and I wish I could go again.
Reginald L- Tunnel
The name of this photo isTunnel. It was taken with my phone. And the photo was taken on a walking path behind the school. How I edited was I first made the photo black and white adjusted the lighting and the effects of the photo and lastly I added a small blur to the photo. I think the photo would be better if I could get that tunnel to be more clear and brighter.
Lilly S- Morning Bush
This image is called morning bush. It was taken on April 22, 2026 in my front yard with my IPhone. I edited it by turning up the saturation and turning down the lighting. I also made some changes to the exposure and brilliance. I think it could have been better if the photo was slightly closer to the leaves emphasizing the morning dew a little more. I had fun with the nature assignment, and this was taken on such a beautiful morning!
Angel H- Dark Trees
The title of this image is called “Dark Trees”, it was taken on nature picture check day and it was taken in the Aldridge gardens. It was taken with a phone. I made the picture darker and increased the contrast along with adding some more green, changing the curves and hues. It could be better if I didn’t over exaggerate the darkness of the picture.
Aubrey M- Still as an Elephant
The title of this image is Still as an Elephant, It was taken during our 2026 Zoo field trip with my Nikon camera. I edited it in a camera raw filter, and turned down the exposure and turned up the contrast, de-haze, and clarity, as well as the sharpening tool. I'm not sure how it could be better but I’m happy with how it came out. So when I took this the elephant was spraying itself with muddy water and I tried to capture that in this image. Unfortunately it didnt show up very well in the photograph so I created a new layer and used the splatter brush and added the “Splatter of mud” myself. I'm happy it turned out the way it did. My best friend really liked Elephants so I migh have this printed out for her.
Sarah J - Home Away From Home
This photo is titled “Home Away From Home” and I took it on the evening of March 26th in Harrison Bay State Park. I titled it this because even though I don’t live there or near there, I found it to be a very comforting and peaceful place, and in a way it felt like a second home. It was taken with my iPhone XR and I edited it by upping the warmth, saturation, and vibrance just slightly. Although I think the warmth is nice, I wish I could have brought out the greens in the trees and grass a bit more, as currently the warmer colors over power it. Overall, though, I really like it.
Kavi H- Nap Time
The title of this image is Nap Time. It was taken at the zoo on the 16th of April, with my camera. I edited it by changing the lighting and coloring. It could be better if it was focused on the animal more.
Anna R - Spiderverse
The title of my photograph is, “Spiderverse”. It was taken on January 30th in Mr. Rigsby’s room, with my Eos 80D Canon. I edited “Spiderverse” by enhancing the lighting on the model’s hair, and then changing the colors to a pink/purple color. I also used the “Stroke” feature on Photoshop to create the colorful outlines. I believe my photograph could be better if I added more details towards the corners of the picture.
Tully S- Abstract Leaf
The name of my image is “Abstract leaf”. It was taken when we went out on our class walk on the golf cart trail. It was taken with my cannon EOS 2000D. I dabbled in everything I could to make it look as good as possible. The main way that I believe it could be better is if I took a better shot with my camera.
Trizah O- Flowcused
I named this picture ‘flowcused’ because it’s supposed to be a mixture of flower and focus, but because I made the shadows less harsh, so it appears kind of like a painting. I could’ve made the editing less blurry, since it doesn’t look as focused as it did before the edits. This image was taken during the nature walk on my iPhone camera.
Anastasiia O- Untitled
I took this picture with my canon camera, in the courtyard of Hoover High School, for an assignment, but didn’t really end up using it for anything. I cropped it a tiny bit, and added a filter. Overall, I think it's a pretty cool picture.
Henry H- Sunrise
The title of this image is “Sunrise”, I took it on my porch its a picture of a sunrise behind colorful flowers. I edited this picture by edited the contrast, saturation and clarity of the image. I think it would have been better if the flowers were a little brighter. But overall I enjoy this picture and its colors.

Isabelle G - Swan Lake
This image is titled ‘Isabelle Gray - Swan Lake.JPG’. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on April 16, 2026. I shot it with my Canon 40D. I edited it by increasing the color, decreasing the lighting, increasing the hue, increasing the saturation, and increasing the luminance. It could be better if I had tried focusing more on the swan. I love this photo because it feels very whimsical to me and makes me think of the artist Monet.
Susan D - Otter
The title of this picture is Otter, my favorite animal is an otter so I had taken lots of photos with my Fujifilm XS-20 during my trip to the Georgia Aquarium during spring break. I edited all the people out from the picture which was fairly easy with photoshop, I was going to change the lighting and coloring but after experimenting I decided the original was better as it captured lots of details and various colors I liked. I really like this photo and I hope other otter lovers do too.
Angel B - Nature's Beauty
The name of this photo is named, ‘Nature’s beauty.’ This was taken at the courtyard at Hoover highschool. It was taken with a Canon camera given to us by Mr. Rigsby. (I don’t remember the exact model.) I didn’t necessarily edit it, but I should have. I should have lowered the exposure, and increased the black point for a more cinematic look. I even believe that I should’ve added a vignette
Marvin M- Fish
The title of this image is “Fish.” I took it while I was at my local pet shop. I edited it by removing some shadows and making it a little brighter. I think it could be better if I added more contrast. I really like this image because the fish look cool.
Chase M- Plant Life
The name of the photo is called Plant Life. This picture was taken on April 7th on the golf cart trail. It was taken on my iphone 17. I edited this photo by going into camera raw and playing with the different setting and playing with everything until i found something that i liked. I think that this photo could of been better if moved just a little from the plant.
Addison G- Predator
This image is titled “Predator”. I took it on the field trip to the Birmingham Zoo. I took it with a Canon EOS REBEL T3. I edited the lighting heavily because the exhibit for the wolfs had a dull lighting. I think the photograph turned out well and I honestly wouldn’t fix a thing. I do just wish I could’ve zoomed in better.
Josiah G- Abstract
I took this photo outside near the big forest behind the baseball field. Took this photo 5 weeks ago. Took phot on my Samsung. I had edited this photo by bumping up the saturation by 4 levels, giving a little bit of some dark and light, and tunned up shadows a little bit more. Could have zoomed into the photo a little bit more to refine some of the details that are presented into the photo.

Hazel A- First Edition
The following image is called First Edition it was taken here in hoover high school in the auditorium on November 6 in the noon with my Iphone 15 pro max as I had forgotten my camera and edited the image by color and vibrance, levels , curves, color balance, selective color, crop and cleaning up some spots, something I could've done better is get a different angle and change the backgrounds color that could match better to the photo and taken a picture of the moves they did during and ending of their jazz performance.
Wrilen W - Chicken
This photo was taken at the Birmingham Zoo during a field trip and was taken with a Kodak AZ528 Camera. I edited it by cropping the photo and giving it a low key effect and with the Viveza effect in photoshop by giving it low contrast and highlights. I do not have any opinion on how it could have been better and I think it looks good overall.
Maddie M - Abstract 2
This image is titled Abstract 2 because it was the second abstract photo I took for the nature assignment. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on April 16th. I used my Canon EOS and edited it by overlaying another photo that was taken in the same spot then adding a filter on top. It could be better if when I took both photos I made sure they were in focus better since parts of the image look a little blurry.
Ava J - Future Meets Past
I call this picture “Future Meets the Past”. I took this picture of my younger brother in the Birmingham Museum of Art. I really liked his silhouette up against the paintings on the wall. Also I think the juxtaposition of new and old was really interesting. To edit this picture I cropped it, lowered the exposure, and increased the highlights. I like the way it turned out!

Aimee A- Home Away From Home
I named this photo “ Home Away From Home” and I took this photo at the Alabama theater in uptown on March 3rd at 7:35 pm. I took this photo with my Canon and the way I edited it was by cropping the photo a bit, making the lighting a little darker but making the lights from the signs pop more. I think this could be better if I had cropped it from the sides a little bit more. I named this photo “ home away from home” because I love being in theaters and one of my dream jobs is to work in Broadway.
Sophie A - Golden Kitty
This photo is titled “Golden Kitty” because the matter of reducing a predator to the title of “kitty” is really funny to me. Also, a jaguar is just a big kitty when you think about it. It was taken April 16th with my Nikon D50 on the zoo trip. I edited it by making it more professional looking- increasing the sharpness, shadows, and highlights. I personally don’t see anything else I would change about this photo. I submitted this to the art show so hopefully it gets an award!
Tucker C- Tiles
This photo I took just for fun and wasn't for an assignment. The image is a basket shadow taken at my house. The main editing changes I made to the photo was one removing color and increasing the contrast and dimming. Maybe I would have taken different angles to present the shadow better but overall its the vibrance. I believe this photo turned out okay but could be better.
Carter C - Tennessee Mountains
I titled this image Tennessee Mountains of course because I took it in the gatlinburg area around October 2025. I took it with my iPhone 15 and only slightly edited the lighting making the image brighter. I think this image could be better if it was a sunrise or sunset picture causing the natural lighting to be much better.

Denver C- Til Death Shall We Part
The name of this photo is “‘Til Death Shall We Part.” I took it with my nikon d3000. I took it at a random building at midday. I blurred out everything outside of the focus point. And changed the color and light settings. It would’ve been better with a smaller aperture.
Reese J - Baritone manipulated
The title of this picture is Baritone Manipulated, It was taken for the still life project earlier this year. It was taken in my bedroom with my baritone on the floor with some music under it. It was taken on November 2, 2025 at 12:22 pm in the early afternoon. I edited it by bringing out the yellows of the instrument and i made the usually white sheet music blue with a rough filter. I brought out the greens. To be honest i don’t really think it could be any better. There is no other information i would like to share at this time.

Braden K - Bloom
The title is “Bloom” for the blooming flowers. It was taken in my front yard after I got home from school. It was taken with my Nikon D70. I edited it by increasing the vibrance, shadows, and texture. I think it could be better if I got closer for more detail.
Reagan H- Flower Shrub
Jayda S- Pinky
The title of this image is “Pinky”. It was taken at the Birmingham Zoo on April 16th. It was taken with an iPhone 17. I edited by sharpening the legs of the flamingo and pond and using the filters to make it more lively. Also I upped the exposure and saturation. I think it could be better if I got a closer shot. This zoo trip was so much fun!
Cassidy D- Down The Rabbit Hole
The name of this image is “Down The Rabbit Hole”. For this, I upped the brightness and contrast. Then, I removed little blemishes without disturbing the overall subject

Jack S- Mountain Sepia
This image is titled “Mountain Sepia”. It was taken in Late October of 2025 when me and my buddies went up to Camp near Pigeon Forge,TN. It was taken with my SonyA6000. I edited it by adding the framing and the sepia filter ontop of it. I think it could be better by having a more focused subject.
Renea M- 2016 Flower
The title for this image is 2016 Flower. Taken April 9th or 10th during our class nature walk, I absolutely forgot what exact day that was but it had to be one of those days. It was taken with my camera but not my phone camera. I edited by using the Nik Verez effect on photoshop and increased the clarity and dehaze a bit, brightness decreased some, and contrast increased just a little to give it the vibes I want it to be. It could have been better with the camera staying still and not having that blurriness to it.
