Anna G- Shrouded
The title of this image is Shrouded. This image is a composite so it is made up of multiple images. The portrait was taken at my house a few weeks ago for the portrait project and the pictures of the hands were both taken in my backyard towards the beginning of the school year. All photos were taken with my Nikon D5100 camera. I edited this photo by making the portrait grayscale and overlaying the first picture of the hand over my face, creating a kind of shadow/silhouette of the hand over my face. I duplicated the layer with the original portrait and overlaid the second hand so the hand had the same colors and image as the portrait below it. Then, I duplicated the colored hand and moved it to a new layer and positioned it so it looked like part of the original image and lined up with the grayscale portrait. I think this photo could be better if the colored hand didn’t have such a sharp edge and if the photo was overall brighter because it ended up looking a lot darker in the final version than it did while I was working on it on the desktop.

I like the focus on the hand and how it's the only thing that's in color. Everything else being in black and white is a creative touch. I would definitely hang this photo on my wall.
I love the choice in keeping the hand and whats behind it in color! Great job!
This is a really good photo and a creative way of editing. I like the way you colored the hand so that you could see the background through it. Having only one hand in color makes it stand out and adds interest to the picture. MB- HHS
I love the creativity put into this photo. The hands contrasting, the eye in color, and the detail in this photo are spot on! It kinda feels like the photo has a message.
I really like this photo. it shows you knew what you were doing when you edited it and I would like to give you a digital handshake. good job and keep up the good work.

I would give this project 4.5 out of 5 stars. I really liked the concept behind “Shrouded” and thought the execution was strong overall. The combination of grayscale and color to create a layered, emotional effect worked really well and matched the mysterious vibe of the title. The way the hand overlays the face adds a haunting, symbolic element that made the image more interesting to look at. It’s clear that a lot of thought and technical skill went into making this, especially with how the layers were duplicated, aligned, and blended.
What impressed me most was how the colored hand was positioned to feel like a natural part of the portrait. That said, I agree with the artist’s reflection—the edge of the hand could’ve been a bit softer to make the transition smoother, and the image might’ve been more effective if it were a little brighter. It ended up darker than expected, which made some details harder to see. Still, it’s a powerful piece with a lot of depth, and I think it shows both creativity and strong editing ability.
