Matthew H - Hit!

I took this image, titled “Hit!” (in reference to blackjack), in my dining room. I used my Canon Mark II camera to capture the shot and used a tripod to keep the card still while waving a lit match in front of the camera. I set it to a long exposure to blur the match and leave a fire trail behind. I edited the picture by increasing the vibrance, adding a vignette, and using the dodge tool on and around the card to make it look like it’s glowing. This is my favorite image I’ve taken all year and the thing I would want to change is having a cooler looking fire trail.

Great job with the picture! I like how you were able to make the card glowing and transparent while also being able keeping the card visible. The flame improves the photo even more by adding more color to the area behind the card. The background of the photo gives it a mysterious feeling like something supernatural is going on.

Cool shot! I really like the aura that the match created around the card. I also think the title is very creative. The only thing that could have made this shot better is playing around with different fire paths to see how they differed. Overall, amazing photo!

I love the picture! I think the fire is very fitting to the playing card aesthetic. I think that the jarring lines between the light and the dark pull the eyes away from the focus so maybe a smoother lighting situation could have benefited the photo. Overall, I love the magical feeling of the photo.

This is a really cool picture. I really like how the card is the main focus and the fire trail is a bit blurry. I think it would be a bit better if the areas around the card and fire trail were a bit darker. Overall I really like the picture and the vibe that it has

I really like this photo. I love how the photo is used with different speeds and has good contrast and brightness. The light brings the photo to life. I really like how the fire trail is all around the photo and around the edges of the photo it is glowing. Overall, I think they did a really good job at creating an image that is really cool and advanced.

This isa really cool picture. The focus is fully visible, and the color of the image is completely bright, which allowed the image to have good lighting and stand out perfectly

This picture is unique and beautiful.I loved the way you put the lighter that it looked like a shooting star. This is a nice aesthetic and has a pretty tone to it. I automatically stopped at this one because it caught my attention. Smart and good idea.

This is a really good eye-catching picture! I like how you caught the vibrant aura around the card. I like the balance of contrast and lighting in this photo. It makes it feel more alive. If the fire trail was slightly darker it would make it look less transparent which would bring more attention to it. Overall, I think this is an amazing photo that gives off this magical and mysterious feeling.

the long exposure helps the photograph be more dramatic and create this light over the car making it look like it floats if it weren't for the wood as the background and it were black it would've made the picture even better, love it overall

hey, I love this image this is a outstanding way to express the meaning of cards. I love how the vibrant aura around the cards. I really enjoy the lighting around the card but if I had to fix something I would make the image loo less transparent and more natural but still eye catching. but overall I enjoyed this image and it really caught me eye.

Love this picture, the stream of light gives it a great aesthetic. I do think, however, that the brightness could have been a little bit lower and it'd still give off the same great effect. I also think you may have been able crop it out a little bit more so more of the light stream would show.

Hey Mat I love the picture man I like how you took this picture in reference to blackjack, but i believe that you could of lowered the brightness a bit and cropped in a little more but other than that what a great picture I also like what you did with the lit match which I think is fire.
