I took it outside of my dad’s lake house, looking out towards the water. It was taken with my iPhone 6 camera. Interestingly, I did not edit this picture in any way. I love this shot’s natural beauty and left it as it was.
One of my favorite aspects of the picture is the composition, which is balanced and interesting, at least to me. I like that, although the sign in the clear subject, you eye is naturally drawn to the rest of the shot. As well, the colors, though varied, complement each other well and aren’t gaudy, for example the red and yellow on the sign and the green and blue of the lawn/lake. Once more, the textures (mostly on the sign and trees but to a lesser extent the grass and leaves) are varied, interesting, and give the shot a sense of life.
As stated before I would not change anything about this picture, not because it’s flawless but because like its unedited beauty.

Samuel C - April 17th
It was taken outside my house on April 17th. I cropped out part of the surrounding image and used the Nik Collection plugin to enhance to the image under the HDRX enhancement. I could have been better if I had one singular subject or put more focus into the image.
Eric H- "Da Coast"
This was taken over Spring Break at my friends condo in Destin, Florida. I took this on my iPhone. I edited it by changing the contrast and brightness. I also saturated the photo and highlighted it. I think it could be better if it was a little clearer. Overall, I like this shot.
Ryan M - Zaria
The title of my selected image is “Zaria.” I took this photo of my best friend at Moss Rock Preserve during Spring Break. I took the photo with my EOS 1200D digital camera. I edited it by cropping the background a bit and I also increased the saturation to make the green colors pop more. It could be better if Zaria’s figure was totally against the green grass and not cut off at the neck. Overall, this was my favorite photo from Spring Break for the Spring Break Choice assignment.
Ifeanyi M. - "Green Beans"
The title of this image is “Green Beans.” It was taken at my house during Spring Break before I ate it for lunch. I edited the image by adding a filter and bringing out some colors. It could be better if the contrast wasn’t quite so high, so there would be more detail.
Mychael O- Macaroon
I took this photo about 3 weeks ago with my iPhone. I was impressed with the quality of the picture and i just added a filter and a little bit of vibrance. It could be better if I would have centered my friend in the picture a little better.
Tajane C- The Happiest Place on Earth
The title of this image is called “ The Happiest Place on Earth”. This photo was taken in Disney World during at the end of March. I took it on my Canon and edited it using a few photography apps on my phone. I feel like I could have made this picture better if it was not raining that day and the sky wouldn’t have been as cloudy.

Megan S- Seaside
This photo was taken over Spring Break in Seaside. I didn’t have my camera with me so I took it with my iPhone 6. I edited it by turning up the saturation, brightness, and concentration. It could be better if it had better quality.
Sydney G- Moss Rock
This was taken over spring break when I got back from the beach. I edited this picture by turning up the brightness. I like this Picture because moss rock is one of my favorite places. I think it could be better if it was more clear.
Tanner R- Fruit
The title of my image is Fruit. It was taken at Peach Park in Clanton, AL. I edited it by making the image sharper and brighter. I also put the black vignette around the image to make the image stand out a little more. This image could be better if I cropped out the other side of the fruit so the fruit would be the main center point of the image.
Katie R- Stairs
This was taken at the Baytowne Wharf over spring break. I took this picture with my iPhone 6s. I edited this picture by increasing the brightness and putting a filter on it from vsco. This picture could be better if the ground wasn’t so green.
Briley S- Plate
This picture was taken at my house for the close-up assignment. I took this picture with my Samsung SL720. To edit the picture I painted with black around the edges to act like a Vignette and painted with white in the center to brighten it up a little. This picture isn’t my favorite but I think it turned out ok.
Vanely C- Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse
I took this picture downtown Birmingham, about a month ago for my panorama project. I took several different pictures of the building and combined them together to come out as one. I took it with y Galaxy Samsung Camera 2. If the side of the car wasn’t showing i think it would be a better pano, but it there. Also, the lighting, I don’t really like how it’s very bright.
Gabi B - Big Cats
This picture is called “Big Cats”. I took this picture on the zoo field trip last week. It was taken with my Canon Rebel EOS SL1 and I edited it by straightening it and increasing the contrast and warmth. This picture could be better if there were more pictures on the right side of the wall and if there were more cool tones.
Chris C- Texas Capital Building
The title of my photo is Texas Capital Building. I took this picture over the spring break when I was in Austin,Texas. I didn’t edit this picture because I like how nature it looks and the lighting and how vibrant it look. When ever I try to edit the photo it would distort the sky color.
Rajiv P - Nike
The title of this image is “Nike”. It was taken at my house a couple months ago for the Close Up assignment. It was taken with a Canon Powershot 150. I edited it by turning up the brightness and contrast, and I also added the filter Plastic Wrap to the image. It could have been better if I got the whole shoe at a different angle.
MatthewW- Sky Art
This image was taken in Talledaga National Forrest over spring break at around 9:30. It was taken with a nikon D80. ISO 800 18mm f/3.5 for 5 minutes (so I could get a little bit of star trail) I edited it by changing the levels, less saturation, more vibrance and i used one of the Nix Collection filters to try to reduce noise. I like this image just because It takes forever to make haha (5 minutes for the picture to take then about 10 more minutes for my old camera to process it). I could have improved it by using a tripod instead of setting it on a rock, and if there was more stars that would have been nice. I’m happy with this image.

Rebecca S- Mother Nature
I titled this image Mother Nature and I took this on the Botanical Gardens field trip. I took this with my Nikon Coolpix L320. I added a white neutralizer filter and added some overlay and boosted the saturation a little bit. It might be better if the background was a little more neutral so the leaf stood out a little more.
Jacob C- Far from the City
I entitled this photo “Far From the City” because you can’t get a view like that from the city. It was taken during spring break at Laguna Beach. It was taken with my iPhone 6 and I didn’t edit it that much. I increased the contrast and messed with the level and curve adjustments. I think it could have been a little better if I was close to the ocean but other than that I like how it turned out.
Matthew R - Adventuring
The title of this image is ‘Adventuring’. I took it in 2013 in the Grand Teton National Park, when we were driving through. It was taken on an iPhone 4. I edited it using Lightroom, boosting vibrance, clarity, pulling down highlights, and a few more adjustments. It’s obviously very grainy because of the fact it was taken on an iPhone, but I think that adds to the effect of it. I really love this photo, because it really captures the exact moment, something that I’ll always be able to look back upon and remember.

Nicole T- Rose
This picture is called Rose. It was taken at the Botanical Gardens during the Photography field trip. It was taken with my Canon Powershot SX 150 IS. I edited it by making it black and white then restoring the color back on the flower and added color back onto the background then I turned up the vibrance and contrast. I also decreased the brightness a little bit. It could be better if the middle was a little sharper.
BRIGGS A-Jungle
This image is titled “Jungle”. I took it while at Disney World over the Spring Break. This is one of my favorite images because it is of on of my favorite rides in the Magic Kingdom. I edited this image using the new Nik collection in photoshop and I am really happy about the final product. I love how it looks almost like it could have been hand drawn and all of the detail. Overall I don’t know if I could have made this image any better.
Ryan F- What's on 2nd
The title of this image is “What’s on 2nd?” because that is the name of the small antique store in downtown Birmingham that I took it in. I took it on April 1st on Spring Break with my Kodak Z990 while I was exploring more of downtown. I edited it by adding an HDR effect to it, adjusting the lighting, and messing with the colors. I don’t really see a way that it could be better because I’m surprised it looked this good but I’m glad to hear any ideas.
CJ G - Purple Flowers
The title of this image is “Purple Flowers”. I took this in my back yard over spring break. I took it with my canon rebel. I edited it by Increasing the contrast so the background was completely black. I also messed with the shadows/highlights and the coloring of this as well as sharpening and cropping. It could be better if There was a little more light and it was brighter
Isaac N- Magic
This photo is titled “Magic” because the experience at disney is just so magical. I took this photo over spring break and I had done a ton of editing to it!! The main editing I did was ad all of the fireworks into the image. I had taken a bunch of pictures during the firework show but none were focused on the castle and the fireworks, so I took fireworks from my good pics and added them into this one. I love the way it turned out and wouldn’t change a thing!
Rere H- Beauty
The title of my photo is “Beauty”. I took this picture Monday at the botanical gardens. I took this photo with an Fujifilm FinePix S8600. I used photoshop to make the background black and white,. I brightened up the flower making it yellower. This photo could have been better if i did’nt make the background so dark.

Christine G - Best Friends
The title of this photo is Best Friends. This photo was taken at a nail salon after i got my nails done. I took this photo with my samsung note 5 and I edited this by adjusting the lighting and cropping the image. This photo would be better is we tried a different pose and asked someone to take the photo for us. This photo is precious to me because it will be a good photo to look back to.
Matt H- Waiting for Action
The title of this image is “Waiting for Action”. The image was taken at Hoover Central Field during a JV lacrosse game on April 13th. I took the image with a Nikon D3300. I did not edit this image because I liked the way it is framed with some of the blurred background still in the image and I liked the colors and exposure. To make this image better I would have captured more area to the right of the player on the right so that the image would be more balanced.
Gage W.- Flora
The title of this image is Flora. The photo was taken Monday at the Botanical Gardens. I took the photo with my Nikon D3300. I sharpened the image and turned down the saturation in the green leaves to make the white of the flowers pop out more. The image could be better if the flowers in the background were not so soft, but I kind of like the depth it gives the photo. I’m really proud of this photo, probably one of the best I took on the whole trip.
Caroline N- Flower
The title of this image is “Flower”. I took this picture at Botanical Gardens earlier this week on the class field trip. It was taken with my Canon EOS Rebel. To edit this picture i turned up the sharpness, saturation, and brightness. I think this picture could be better if some of the leaves were more in focus.
Emily F- Tree Tops
The title of this picture is Tree tops. It was taken at Botanical gardens on the photography field trip. It was taken with a Sony DSC-H300. I edited it in photoshop by lightening some places and darkening others. It could be better if it wasn’t as bright outside.
Oryieon M- Orange
This Picture is called “ orange”. I took it at the field trip to botanical gardens. It was taken on my iPhone 5. I didn’t edit it this is the original picture. I took it just to see how close i could get to an object and i was trying to capture the water droplets.
