Bradley C - Out the Grape Vine
This was taken at Hoover in the photo room. This image was taken with a Pentax K-5 and a 18-55 F3.5 lens. I did not edit this picture, it is straight from the camera itself. The image could be better by adding more light to Eric’s hair but overall I’m proud of this picture. This was shot with little light so a dark picture was intended for. Overall this picture is by far one of my cleanest shots I’ve taken.
Daniel M-"Empty Lot"
I call this photo “Empty lot”. I took this photo over Thanksgiving break downtown. I took this with my Nikon D40 with a 50mm lens. To edit this photo i turned the brightness up and turned the offset down. To make this photo better I should’ve taken the photo straight on not from a angle.
Cain M- Glowing Guitar
This picture was taken a few weeks ago in my room. I shot this picture with a Nikon SLR. I used the photoshop glowing edges filter to outline the guitars edges. This picture would be better if every line was outlined instead of just some of them.
Sydney G- Hand
This photo is titled Hand. I took this photo for the Night & Day assignment. I edited this by turning up the brightness and the saturation. I think this could have been better if it was more centered.
Peyton R- Chalk
The title of this photo is, “Chalk”, because that is what it is. I took this with my Cannon Rebel a few weeks ago in my house. I did not edit this photo. I feel like if there was something written on the chalkboard, that would have been cool. I also would have liked a little more focus on the eraser.
Caroline N- Flowers
The title of this image is “Flowers” I took this picture the school during class one day. I took this picture with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel. I edited this picture by turning up the red saturation and sharpening the image a little bit. This picture could be better if I added a little bit of contrast to brighten up the white areas.
Zack C - Riding Shotgun
I took this picture when riding shotgun in my dad’s truck. We were on the way to the magical farm we used to live on before currently residing in Hoover. We never grew anything on it, it only had lots of space, so calling it a farm is somewhat disingenuous, isn’t it? Regardless of the semantics, it was a cool trip filled with daring action, mystery, romance, and lots of standing around in the rain bored. No lie, it was super boring up there. All we, the minors, did was stand around getting wet in the August rain while Dad and his friend tried to lift an old boat out of the mud. For three hours. Luckily, I had my trusty Fujifilm S5 Pro SLR with a macro Nikon lens (what a mouthful), unlike my brothers Cole and Bay, who resorted to banging their heads on various objects for amusement, likely resulting in several severe cranial concussions, which would be bad in any other cases, but considering they are both morons through and through (I am the Moe to their Curly’s if you catch my drift), it can only result in an improvement. Putting this awkward humor derailing the assignment aside, I edited this neat-o picture using the original gangster, iPhoto, at the beginning of the school ear. Wow, school ear. I’m gonna leave that typo in. Anyway, the writer increased the Big Three (exposure, contrast, and saturation thank you very much) all slightly and put both definition and highlights at about 50%. And, of course, he put the sharpness all the way up in this “ish” (word copyright of Zackary Carlisle). i also cooled the image and tinted it slightly green. So yeah. It’s a nice shot, not ground-breaking or innovating, but pretty solid none the less. I feel the picture is purty balanced and has a nice drab color palate, so frankly, there isn’t much to improve. So, once again, yeah. This picture is only finna get like two comments anyway, and they will just list things they liked about the picture, not criticize it, but if you do wanna give some advice or something, you are free to do so in the comments below, even if it would shatter my illusions of being a good artist. *cries*
Ryan M - The Rare Captain Phasma
The title of my selected image is “The Rare Captain Phasma.” This is a photo of my 6-inch Star Wars: The Force Awakens Black Series Captain Phasma action figure. She is the second-in-command of the First Order in the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens, coming out December 18th. Her action figure is rare though because about a month ago when she, Constable Zuvio, Poe Dameron, and a Guavian Enforcer all had their Black Series action figures released to the public, Captain Phasma was the highest in demand by collectors. I myself was able to track down the one GameStop all the way in Irondale that had ONE Black Series Captain Phasma left. Talk about a journey! I took the photo in my game room (one of two rooms filled to the brim with my Star Wars Collection) on October 25th, 2015. I took the photo with my EOS 1200D digital camera. I edited it by adjusting the saturation, exposure, contrast, sharpness, and definition. I also used the re-touch tool to mark out some of the product labeling on the toy’s box (I don’t think “CHOKING HAZARD” looks that good in a photo). It could be a better photo if the toy’s packaging didn’t have a image of Captain Phasma on it because it honestly feels a little redundant right next to her action figure. It also would have been a better photo if I took Captain Phasma out of her box, but as I leave all of my toys in their boxes, the photo of her in her package will have to suffice. I am confident that her silver armor does a good job of standing out from the red and black color of her packaging. Captain Phasma is definitely one of my most favorite pieces of my collection due to her sheer awesome appearance so that’s why I just had to take a photo of her.
Emily F- Ellie
I titled this photo “Ellie” because that is the name of the dog in the photo. This was taken in my house over Thanksgiving break. It was taken with a Sony cyber-shot DSC-h300. I edited it in photoshop. It could be better if it were a bit more clear.

Vanely C-Fall.jpg
I named this picture Fall because it was taken around November after school outside of a restaurant with a Samsung Galaxy 2 camera. I edit this with the Hue/Saturation tool and made the color red stand out more. I think my picture could of been better i i had not added so much hue and make the red look a little more natural, but than again the color is the main focus in this picture not the leafs.
Gabi B- SunsetJPG
The title of this image is “Sunset”. I took this picture over the summer in Destin, Fl. I took this picture with my iPhone 5C. I edited this picture by increasing the saturation and contrast and cropping it. I think this picture could better if it was a little clearer and the people weren’t standing there.
Kaley A- "Red Zone"
I names this picture “Red Zone”This is picture was taken here at Hoover High School. It was taken in the dark room in Mr. Simpson’s class room. I edited this picture by increasing the contrast. I don’t know how i could have made this picture better. I am happy with the outcome of this picture.

Chloe J- Girls on the Playground
I named this photo “Girls on the Playground” because I took this picture at a playground and her skirt says “Girls on the playground” It was taken last Saturday at Gwin elementary school on the playground. I edited it by turning up the contrast and turning the exposure up just a little bit. I don’t know how it could be better, I like the irony of everything in this image as well as the shadow you see on the ground and I really enjoy the whole vibe this image gives.
Dayne M- Rose
This image is titled “Rose” and it was taken a few weeks ago on my front porch. It was taken with my Nikon D5500. I edited the image by adding the Reticulation filter and then I adjusted the density of the filter. It could be better if the top of the image was not so focused on the wall.
Rebecca S- Twin Falls
This picture is called Twin Falls and it was taken last spring in Mentone, Alabama. I took this with my Nikon Coolpix L320. I adjusted the curves and increased the saturation slightly. It could be better if the background was a little more in focus.

Tanner R- Cross
The title of my image is Cross. It was taken at Shades Crest Baptist Church during the Bluff Park Art Show. It was taken with a Nikon D3300. I edited it by making the background dark and I added an effect to the cross. It could be better if there was not a glare on the top of the cross.
Molly B-Food Colors
The title of this picture is food colors. This picture was taken a couple weeks ago in my kitchen. It was taken with a COOLPIX L830. I edited it by enhancing the color and cropping off some of the edges. It could be better if the reflection of the flash wasn’t showing in the picture.
Megan S- Africa
This photo was taken in Uganda, Africa during Thanksgiving break. It was taken with my Nikon Coolpix camera. I edited it by turning up the saturation, cropping it, and turning up the vibrance. It could be better if I got a little closer to the little girl.
Caitlin G- Beach Sky
The title of my selected image is ‘Beach Sky’. It was taken on the board walk at Gulf Shores, Labor Day weekend. It was taken with my friends camera and I and not sure what kind. I edited this picture on an app on my phone called VSCO. It could be better if it was more focused and had more of the boats and boardwalk in it.
Ella P- Sunset Silhouette
This photo is entitled Sunset Silhouette because the sunset prevents you from seeing the figure in detail. I took it with my iPhone 6 at the beach in Destin over Thanksgiving break. In editing this photo I cropped it so the figure is to the right and I boosted the definition as well as the sharpness. I wish I was able to get a clearer image, but I like how you can only see the back of my sister and her silhouette. I really like this photo because it’s very warm and colorful.
Dejon F- New Faces
The title for this image is called “New Faces”.This was taken at the Brookwood hospital on November 15th, 2015. This photo was take with my Cannon PowerShot SXI 130 IS. I did not edit this photo because I think it looks good as it is. This photo would be better in two ways. the first way is if there wasn’t the hand and someone standing in the back ground. The second way it could be better was if I took the picture at a different angle. This photo is call ‘New Faces’ because John is seeing his brother for the first time and vice-versa.

Matthew W- The Fall of Summer
I titled this image “The Fall of Summer”. It was taken at a little creek behind my house for the color assignment I found some red leaves and put them on the rock to give some color to the picture. It was taken with a d80. (iso: 320, f/16, 10sec exposure) I was going to edit it and make the picture brighter as a whole but when I did it I didn’t like how the red leaves didn’t stand out as much, so I left it unedited. It could have been better if there was more going on with the water.
Ashley W- Wild Flowers
I took this photo on October 24th on an abandoned tennis court with my Nikon D3200. I edited it by cropping it in quite a bit and adding two hue and saturation levels, one to turn the background and flowers purple, and another to make her hair whiter and the colors I added back into the flowers less intense, I also did routine blemish corrections to her skin and the background and messed with the vibrance and exposure. I really like the way this photo turned out, but I think it could have been better if I did more to the background.
Jacob H- Icicle
I named this picture Icicle because obviously it is a picture of an Icicle. I took it in Kampsville Illinois over Thanksgiving break. I took it with my Nikon D-90. I edited the tone, color, and sharpness of this picture. It could be better if it was a more balanced center of focus!
CJ G - Sunset
The title of this image is ‘Sunset’. It was taken on a mountain in Utah that me and my brother hiked up in the winter. It was taken with my phone and I edited it by sharpening and straightening. It could be better if I took it with my real camera.
Tajane C- Alex
The title of this picture is called Alex. It is named after the model. It was taken during the school day in the photo room in Mr. Rigsby room. I edited it a bit but I got assistance from Mr. Rigsby. It could have been better if I would have taken it from a better angel.
Wes S- Elephant Ear
It was taken in a dryer up creek. I took it September 30th. I took the picture with a cannon rebel I edited it by raising the saturation and adjusting the hue slightly on the elephant ear and covering the rest of the picture with a black and white filter that had the opacity turned down. It would probably look better if i cropped out the one in the bottom right.

Areez L- Red Leaves
The title of this picture is Red Leaves. This photo was taken outside of my house in the afternoon from school. It was taken with my Kodak camera. I edited this photo by copying and pasting a section of the background in order to cover up the cars in the background. I also used the clone tool to blend in the branches to the background. I think this photo could’ve been better if I tok it at a different angle.
Blakely W- Tuscaloosa
I took this picture in Tuscaloosa in the fall. I like the angle of this picture and the sky. I added color and contrast to this. It could be better if i got it at another angle, or more of the stadium. This picture is important to me because I love Tuscaloosa and I go down their every Saturday for game days.
Alena D- Gold
This is a picture of some gold candles that was on a table from dinner that my family and I had. It was taken over the summer at a place called “The Club” in Downtown Birmingham. I took this picture with my Canon EOS Rebel T5. I edited it by adding some saturation to it but I mostly kept the photo the same. It could have been better if I got in a better angle and if I didn’t get the drink in the shot but overall I think it is good.

Abby U- Rachel
The title of this image is Rachel. This picture was taken in Homewood, AL in October 2015. It was taken wish my Canon Rebel t5i camera. This picture could be better if it was more focused on her and not the background and if I would have cropped it differently.
Aania C- The Fall
The title of this image is “The Fall”. It was taken during the pick a color assignment on my neighbor’s car. To edit it i used a black and white adjustment layer and then used a brush to restore the color of the leaves, which I saturated a little more. I think it could be better if I had a better background.
Katie R- Carwash
This was taken at the carwash about to weeks ago. It was taken with my iPhone 5s.To edit this picture i increased the hue and saturation. This picture could be better if it was more focused.

Matthew R - James Bond
I title this image James Bond because I was inspired to make something like it after seeing the new Bond movie Spectre, and the Aston Martin that he drives. I took the photo of the car itself at a dealership in Nashville a month or two ago, and I took the photo of the background in downtown Birmingham a few months ago. I took the photos with my Canon T3i. I did a lot of editing. Firstly, I cut the car out of the first photo, being very precise and using masks to fill in the spots I missed, making it very clean. Then, I placed that image onto the background image to get a general idea of the fit. There was originally a mustang in the background photo, which I cloned out. The background photo was in broad daylight, so I lowered the exposure, added a blue tint, and did other things to make it appear like night time. I added lighting effects to the light poles, headlights, and ground to simulate the headlights being on. I added some fog to the background, darkened the car, posterized the bumper of the car to reduce reflection, cloned a tag out on the windshield, and added a few more effects to make it look realistic. It could be a little better, cleaner, and more realistic looking, but I’m pretty satisfied.
Maison R- Fall
The title of this image is “Fall” and I took it in the courtyard a couple weeks ago. it was taken with one of Mr. Rigsby’s cameras. To edit it, I increased the contrast and saturation in the leaves. I also increased the orange hue. I think it would be better if the sky was just a little bit darker.
Matt H- Thanksgiving berries
The tile of this image is Thanksgiving Berries. This image was captured in my grandparents backyard on 11/26/15. It was taken with Canon EOS REBEL T1i camera. To edit the image I increased the brightness, contrast, and vibrance. This image could be better if I could have removed the limbs that are cutting in front of some of the berries. I really like the shadow of the berries on the leaves.
