This is a photo of some bones that my girlfriend gave me as a birthday gift; they are from a baby deer that she found dead in the woods by her house. The quote is lyrics from a song called “Skeleton Appreciation Day in Vestal, NY (Bones)” by Will Wood and the Tapeworms. I chose these specific lyrics due to their obvious relevance to the subject of the photo as well as their meaning. To me, it is saying something like “show me the ugly parts of you”—represented by bones—“and I will love you anyway.” I love this; I find it very beautiful and romantic while also being somewhat macabre.
